  1. thanks for the input. I replaced the fuel lines when I got the rig about 3 years ago. I do need to replace the fuel filter separator can though. new 3 years ago, and never did anything with it. I'll keep the conversion as an option. The VRO has worked well......until the other day, if that was it. Those VRO pumps are $450 for the OEM. I just ordered a brand new lower unit. I was told some slivers on the magnets are normal. I think mine has a little more than normal, and the oil has water in it. Rather than try a seal kit, and tear down/inspection, I opted for a new unit for $895 and 3 year warranty from Mariners Warehouse, florida.
  2. Ok, my lower unit is making metal. Oil is milky. Can anyone recommend a good Marine Engine Mechanic that can get me back in service ASAP? I don't think I want to tackle this myself unless I have to. Site won't allow me to post pictures. Evinrude 1992 model EX175ENC. HELP!. I will tow boat to your facility, or you can come here, but it has to stay on the transom. Garry. 716 481 9875. Please Call me. Sent from my moto z3 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. UPDATE: Motor started and ran flawlessly down the Niagara River and back for 16 miles round trip. So, I have no idea what was causing the starting/rich issue. But, I may have other problems. Motor was making clacking sound I've never heard before (or am I being paranoid now?) . Concerned because when I changed the lower gear oil a few trips ago, there were metal slivers on the magnets, and the oil was milky. So, I'll drain it and check this today. Not what I need. Looks complicated. Nothing coming from prop area, so if its leaking its an internal seal driveshaft maybe...UGH!
  4. I want to know what Broke off finds out too. Sent from my moto z3 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. Went to Buffalo Harbor Saturday. I got gas that morning. Motor started but would only run a few minutes and quit. It would only start when choked. I did this about 6 to 10 times then gave up and brought it home. Pulled plugs, all six looked good, but all were wet. Reinstalled, and tried it, and Motor started and ran very rough with lots of smoke, more than I've ever seen. Eventually the smoke cleared. Retried a few times and it starts right up now. Any ideas on what would cause this? Evinrude E175ENC. has the VRO with oil mix tank. This is a 1992 Motor. Bought this boat 4 years ago and this Motor has started and ran flawlessly every time. I always use REC 90 gas. I'm taking it out on lake this morning to try it again. Sent from my moto z3 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. I'll be trying this for sure. Sent from my moto z3 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Thanks, I was wondering about that wind shift. Maybe if the shift to the west occurs later, a morning trip will be ok. If I launch at Fort Niagara I guess if it gets too bad I can go into the river and fish for something. Never fished the river. Sent from my moto z3 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Looks like they are saying 1 to 3 feet from Niagara River to Hamlin Beach. This means actual 2 to 6 footers which is probably too rough to fish. But I'm wondering if you think it may be calmer out of Fort Niagara, as opposed to Olcott? Your thoughts are welcomed. Thanks in advance. Trying to get out Sunday if possible. 9. Thanks I didn't have any spro swivels so I twisted them together and covered them with heat shrink. Sent from my moto z3 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. Had a huge tangle July 4 with my 300 copper and a wire dipsey. Had to cut out 30 feet section of Copper in the middle. Can it be spliced back together so I have. 270 copper? I just twisted it together to get it back on the reel and retrieve my gear. Sent from my moto z3 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  16. Jeremy, what do you to get Lakers? Ice never caught one in 3:years of fishing LO. This would be good plan B when Salmon can't be found. Thanks. Sent from my moto z3 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. Went out from 530 to 8pm. Stopped at 250 FOW. Water Temp at surface everywhere was 63. Cold water moved in I guess. The last time I was out it was 74. Trolled out to 300 then back to 190. Caught one steelhead in 220. Saw some bait there where I got the steelhead. That's all folks. Another slow one. Sent from my moto z3 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. I post Every trip because I find it helpful when others do so. Sent from my moto z3 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. Thanks so much for posting the report. I went on the 9th and it was slow. I was hoping someone would give an Olcott update from the weekend. Sent from my moto z3 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. Went west about 2 or 3 Miles. Fished from 130 to 200 fow. 74 degrees surface, and down 45 feet had about 53 degrees. Lots of bait and saw a few fish down 35 to 40 on the screen. Caught two small Cohos and lost two. One on spoon on the downrigger, one on flasher fly with diver lost one on a 100 copper. Slow afternoon, but beautiful. At one spot I found 48 degrees down 50. That was in about 170 FOW. Some guys at ramp pulling out at same time went east. They also had slow afternoon with only a steelhead and Laker as I recall. Hopefully the Kings will return from wherever they are. Sent from my moto z3 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. Thanks I'm going 6/9 hopefully we will find something. Sent from my moto z3 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. I realize you already bought the 15 hp and you got hot great price. But for those who might use this thread as a reference in the future: there will be no difference in the speed generated from a 9.8 versus a 15 ho motor. There is s formula that is used to determine this. If you can't get on plane you will kit be able to achieve anymore speed with the bigger motor. I know this is hard to believe but I guess this is true. Based on drag. So for those who are making this decision in the future, do some research. 23. I bought the lowrance outboard autopilot and HDS 7. They work perfectly. But, I would not buy again for the fact you cannot get the units repaired, as I understand it. Sent from my moto z3 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. Yeah I did my own after watching Danger Marines video. I made my own puller. Sent from my moto z3 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. Could this be used to change lower unit oil in an outboard? I cannot get the drain screw out, but I can remove the vent screw. 9.8 tohatsu. Sent from my moto z3 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
