  1. Yup, caught a good number of fish on MC rockets. I put herring scent in the resealable bags they come in and just leave them soaking in it. Fat Nancys website had best prices i could find on them.
  2. I guess I’m confused? Why would you need to reset the counter every time? If you’re counter is reading 65 and you really have 80ft our according to the probe than it seems like you have too much cable on the riggers. Keep in mind the counter is based off of spool roatations. Too much cable (aka larger diameter spool) means more is coming off the spool than the counter is set for. Simple fix... remove cable from the spool until the spool diameter is correct(aka factory amount of cable). Measure 100ft out with a tape measure, pull the cable out to that 100ft mark. If your counter reads under 100 that means too much cable. Remove some until your counter reads 100 at the 100ft measured mark. Problem solved
  3. I suppose you could always "tune" your riggers same way you "tune" a linecounter reel. Measure off 100' on your driveway/yard and then pull the cable to that 100' mark and see what the counter says. If your counter is saying 65 when you have 80' out then like everyone said there is too much cable. Which is easy to fix... just remove it in small increments until the 100 on the counter is at your 100' mark in the yard.
  4. I looked at the Amish one too, they have a tube file version as well. It was a little cheaper than the dreamweaver box but I think the Amish one only held like 17 tubes. The dreamweaver one holds 34 tubes and they will fit a rigged fly if you coil up the leader.
  5. I decided I want to add another 300 copper reel to my arsenal... Before I buy everything and make one myself I figured I would check if someone had one they wanted to get rid of.
  6. I looked into packaging options (specifically plastic tubes) and found a few options but most needed to be bought in bulk to make the price worth it. So I bought one of these and it works great, you can store 2 unrigged flies or 1 rigged in each tube and it comes with 34 tubes. Can't beat it for the price imo https://www.fishusa.com/product/Dreamweaver-Tube-File-Tackle-Box
  7. I need two 6” sections of track if anyone has a couple laying around, before I buy new. I could always use longer sections if someone has them too but 2 6” will work. PM me
  8. I went ahead and ordered some SST Pros, I have had very good luck with Offshore's walleye boards so we will see how these work.
  9. Anyone have any experience with either of these boards? I have used the standard size Offshore boards for years and they have always worked great for me. I am looking to get a larger set for longer coppers, the church boards are like $15 cheaper each which is nice but I have 0 experience running any church boards.
  10. You should probably say where you're looking to fish as the reports differ all along the south shore.
  11. Got my doubles yesterday... they look pretty good. My only issue was the packaging, they just put the 2 trees in a big box and shipped them. No bubble wrap or packaging of any kind, now there are marks all over the trees from where they rubbed on each other during shipping. They are just bare aluminum, so they mark up pretty easy. Needless to say I'm disappointed in what I got for the $40 in shipping costs I paid.
  12. I'm pretty new to using a probe myself, but this time of year I look for where the temp levels out. Two weeks ago I had 48 surface and 43 down 70 over 150 fow and deeper than that was all pretty much 42-43. So I set my gear up in the top 70ft. Not sure if that was the right thing to do but we caught fish so I'd say it worked well that day. We started out to 200 fow and I had 47 surface and 43 down 30ft, I didn't think that was good so we moved in to 150 and found what I thought was better water with the temps I mentioned earlier.
  13. Two weeks ago we did well in 120-160 fow straight out of mexico... 5 Kings, 2 lakers, 1 brown. Caught one of the lakers on a 3 color in 150 fow. We were getting the kings down like 50-60ft.
  14. Depends on what your running... FF usually short leads ~25ft, for spoons I use longer leads ~75ft
  15. Any of you guys have their 90* swivel base? Kind of curious what that is? I see no benefit in being able to rotate them in 90* increments if that is what they do. I don't usually run more than 2 boards plus riggers (usually only me +1 fishing), even for walleye so I'm leaning towards the doubles.
  16. I got a price on a pair of doubles with caps and fixed bases... $181 shipped just fyi
  17. I'm assuming you guys are talking about the mainline for big planers correct? I run inline boards so that shouldn't be an issue for me.
  18. Just an FYI, I got more info on pricing of the triples. $65 without caps or swivel base $97 with caps and swivel bases $205.64 pair with caps, swivel bases and tax $39 shipping charge $244.64 for a pair with caps and bases with shipping and tax. Still half the price of Berts, but slightly more than I initially thought.
  19. Just ran across these the other day, they look identical to Bert's triple trees and are 1/3 the price! I called them and they are still in business making them. From what they said the tubing is scrap from the docks they make and that is why they can sell them so cheap. Anyone have any experience with them? http://www.madsdocks.com/shop/Item/pmpoletree
  20. Not sure what you're saying in that first sentence? What kind of retrieve problems are you having?
  21. Anyone out there running a CHIRP Helix unit? I had my settings dialed in last year but decided to use my helix on the ice this winter. Needless to say I changed all the settings and can't remember or figure out what I had them at last year. I have it set decent right now but I feel like it worked much better last year. Anyone willing to share their settings just so I can compare?
  22. I wired mine to my fuse panel (5 amp) and used the supplied 1 amp in-line fuse and my works fine. Wish I saw Sk8tman's picture of his transducer install before I did mine though... I was concerned about the fish hawk being so close and interfering with the SI capabilities of my Helix transducer so I installed another board on the opposite side and mounted it over there. It works fine but like most others I hate drilling holes my boat!
