  1. I’ve waded out there many times over the past years wearing chest wader armed with an ice spud to break it up enough so not to harm the transducers. You’re right about the depth Fishstix, probably less than 2 ft, was tight this past weekend launching there. Lake level has no where to go but up. 1st picture shows current level, 2nd picture was 2020’s levels. Usually starts to rise around 2nd week of March, with the snowpack still in the hills south of lake and warm weather this week it might be coming up sooner than later. 2. With the water level low and most marinas iced up launch out of Taughannock. There is a bubbler system that keeps it from freezing up, for the most part anyway. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  5. Went 17/23. 1 laker, 3 browns biggest in picture was probably 9-10, safely released, others were 4&5lb. rest were salmon, which were a nice class of fish 4-5lb average, only a couple that didn’t hit the 18” mark. Skinny water, lines on inside board took 80% of hits. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. Quarantine, day 7: Days 1-4 knocked me on my a**, felt a bit better the last couple. My order from Purple Taco came in and Dad’s endless supply of buck tails stocked me up so I banged out a bunch of flasher flies and trolling streamers. It’s been a couple weeks since I’ve been on the water and after seeing Reel Doc’s post I’m ready to get back out there and put the streamers to work. 9. Would love if they made it deeper, but that 30 minute ride over to Taughannock to launch is better than not being able to launch at all in the winter. Hopefully the state won’t cut funds to keep the bubbler going. Kudos to the crew at Taughannock park for keeping it going and having that ramp plowed and salted! Thanks! 10. Scratched the itch today and trolled with the MB 1. After boating a few casting a few weeks back we put the big boards in the water today and set a 9 rod spread. Okay day finishing 7/11 but did squeak out the slam, which was pretty cool and a fatty pike, did have a bite off, probably another pike. Salmon were all dinks none being over 16”. Shallow divers, spoons with weight and flies all took hits. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  12. This is the base of mine. #4 Owner or Gamakatsu snelled with 17lb floro to the streamer hook. Atlantics in the winter seem to short hit so they’re caught on the stinger 90% of the time. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  22. Day off and decided to give the perch a break today. I have zero ready for winter trolling, about a week behind with that, so I grabbed some jigs that I recently tied up and to casting the shoreline Dad and I went. Wind was on the calmer side to start and we were able to use the preferred set up with 4lb test and 1/8oz jigs. Had to bump up to 6lb and 3/8oz as the morning progressed and SE winds pickup up pushing us along. The salmon were definitely schooled up and only in certain areas, when we caught 1 another 1-2 were sure to follow. One brown, the rest were salmon, zero lakers. The grill is heating up for the few we kept. Tomorrow will be spent prepping planer boarding rods and gear. Fun day but Sunday we troll!

  24. One Cannon Marlin HP electric downrigger. 36” fixed boom. Works great. Never any issues. Swivel base. Had to put tape over the ‘up’ button from so much use but it has never given me any problems other than it just wore through. All wiring is included. $200 I will ship if you’re willing to pay otherwise I would prefer to meet up. I live in Lansing. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
