  1. Nice video. Can't wait to get back out there. The Expo this weekend isn't going to help the itch I have to get back on the lake. Just out of curiosity, how did u do in the pro/am ? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. I guess the first thing that has to be asked is what is a boat that big doing going that fast that close to shore. I just don't get why some people with big boat feel the need to drive like that. I hope that they all win there lawsuits. This past summer I came across the same situation. I was coming back into the small boat harbor south gap. This old guy was driving probably 20 mph inside the breakwall. He had almost hit 3 other boats before he turned right at us. I laid on the horn and lucky he turned at the last second. The side of his bow caught the side of my boat. I came out ok. I guess no harm no foul in this case. I'm normally pretty aware of my surroundings but I can tell you that I'm definitely more aware now even when I'm putting lines in. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  6. Ok Pap. I appreciate the help. Not a problem waiting til spring. I will be running the lower Niagara til then anyway. I just needed some feedback on what track the best. I would have thought that the pancake weights would track better than they do with less resistance. But that appears not to be the case. Do you know if he will be at the show in Niagara falls? Thanks Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Ok. I'm going to get a hold of him and order a couple weights Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  9. I'm going to be looking to buy a couple weights. When I first started trolling a few years ago it was for walleye on lake Erie. I have 10lb cannon round weights which was fine for what I bought them for. But now going into my 2nd full year on Lake Ontario. Most of the time the 10lb weight are ok. Problem I had was in July when fishing deep. Would 12lb weights be ok to fish around the 100' range ? Is there one style of weights that track better than another ? From what I have heard is that the pancake weights don't track as good. If it matters I fish from the bar to Olcott. Thanks for any help Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  15. Hello guys. I'm going to be going into my 2nd full year of trolling for trout and salmon on Lake Ontario. I'm want to put together an order of flies. From what I have learned and you guys have posted what works this is what I have a list of possibilities. 42nd fly, Big Fin, Crinkle Green, Green Hammer, Mirage, NBK, Pro/am and Stud. I do have a hand full of flies. I have the Stud, Pro/am, Crinkle Green, Big Fin. I may have a couple more but not sure on color. I would like everyone opinion on what works on the west end. I fish from the bar to the Oak. I do have a few more questions. Is it a good Idea to have some uv and glow flies and at what times of day should they be used ? For flashers what are the best colors ? Right now I do run 11" pro troll and some spin doctors. For the most part I try to run 6 lines. 2 riggers, 2 dipsy and two boards. I have read that most newer fishermen tend not to run enough flies. A lot of the time I will run and 2 flies and 4 spoons. Is that too many spoons ? We have done pretty good over the last year. But still in search of that great day some of your have had. We will get a couple a d it seems to go cold. Our best day we went 6 for 10. 5 steelhead and a shaker king. Wasn't what we were looking for but is was a lot of fun. Sorry if this got long winded. I appreciate the input. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  20. I'm going to be looking for a kicker motor in the spring. I had picked up a motor last year from a guy the I rent a cabin from and it ended up being pretty crappy. So I ended up having to use the big motor. We did pretty good with it. I have a '95 18' spectrum Sport. It runs good but just don't like low rpms. We are looking to spend about $800. First of all will I be able to pick up something that runs good at that price ? Second would I be better of with a short shaft or long ? Don't really have a preference in a 2 or 4 stroke at this point. Just want it to make it easier trolling. At some point I would like to upgrade to a nice 4 stroke. Thanks for any help Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. Cool video. Got to be awesome on a fly Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. There are 3 places that I know of in Clayton. Clayton Marina Pier 65 Northern Marina I think Pier 65 is the one they are taking about. But I think that the one at Northern Marina is the best one. It is a nice launch and it's free. The only thing is they just ask that u stay out of the way of the workers. If u Google them they are all near Round Island Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. Does anyone know what the Lower Niagara River looks like after the rain that we have had. Thanks Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. Thanks Rob. I have a 18' Spectrum with a 120 and a bow trolling motor. I'm one of the guys that runs the lower river. That it why I had bought the outboard last year. I have a couple people that I fish with that are uncomfortable with the fast moving water. I wasn't sure with the steelhead if it would be an offshore thing or a shallow thing. After I caught my first king and did a charter I have a new obsession lol. With a handful of charter captains and you guys on this site have helped my learning curve a lot. I appreciate any of the help you guys have given me. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
