  2. Ran two boats with 4 guys total up to fish Otisco and Owasco on Thursday the 31st we planned to fish Owasco the first day, Cayuga the second day, and then go to Otisco. Thursday high winds forced us to fished otisco. Ran into the browns to make the day interesting. Friday was better weather so we went to Owasco. Landed a number of good size lakers, a couple rainbows and a nice 11 lb northern. Fished the afternoon on Friday at Otisco with a slow bite only managing 1 walleye which is the only one of the trip. Saturday fished otisco to no avail. Managed two small mouths between the two boats but ran into Justin who was kind enough to pass along some info. Thanks again Justin. Sunday ran a redemption trip to Owasco for a quick trip and battled high winds but managed a number of good sized lakers and a brown. Ran a down rigger, deep diver, leadcore and copper lines. Mostly a spoon and stick bait program with various depths. Ran a gambler rig with cowbells on the copper In Owasco which got a lot of hits but was tough to keep them on to land them. Overall good trip will be back very soon. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  5. Does anyone run leadcore when fleas are bad? I sort of remember having trouble with fleas last year on my leadcore in Cayuga. Anything you do to get rid of them or just don't run them all together? I have sea flee for leaders but that is only part of the problem.
  6. I don’t recommend spinning by any means, but if you are going that way, the Okuma avenger with bait feeder feature would be better. You put the bait feeder on when letting down your rigger and it won’t free spool. I have one and tried one day just for fun and it didn’t cause problems. Like my levelwinds better, but below is a link to types of reels I’m talking about. Line is your choice. I like braid and mono. Pretty much braid on everything now because it lasts longer. https://www.fishusa.com/product/Okuma-Avenger-ABF-B-Series-Baitfeeder-Spinning-Reels Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  11. Thanks guys. This was my first time ever fishing otisco so was happy to get something. It was crazy in the beginning, I just got my second downrigger set (2 poles out of 7) and it immediately went off within 4 minutes of having a rod out. It was a walleye and thought I was going to be in for the time of my life but then went a few hours without a bite. Still fun and good learning experience no matter what! 16. We were getting a good mix of bows Saturday. Fishing mostly 100-125 fow with lead varying between 175-225' out and stickbaits/spoons. Sounds like some nice sized lakers. Good job. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  17. Made the trip up from Northeast PA yesterday and Headed out of long point at 5:30 AM, jumped over to west side of lake trolling north. Very slow start picking up only 1 landlocked on lead. Decided to jump over and try the east side and turned things around quickly. Boxed 8 fish with about 6 throwbacks with a good mix of bows, land locks, and lakers. We got a slammer rainbow, measuring 30" and weighing 7 pounds. Funny story when he hit the planer board, the leadcore snapped off above the planer (obviously at the end of its life). We turned around the boat to get it but caused a few lines to tangle. Finally got the board with the lead still attached and my buddy started bringing it in by hand but it got caught in the downrigger and had to wait for me to untangle it while I was already untangling another line. He starts pulling it up again after being untangled and sure enough the big fish that broke the lead was still on there, it was that big rainbow. You can see how big it is with my buddy who is 6'5" holding it. Overall good day. Leadcore mixed between 175' and 225' with blue/silver storm thunderstick was the hot item as it picked up the majority of bows and LL. Downriggers set at 100/110' with cowbells and gamblers worked well for the lakers along with black/purple/silver stinger spoon set at 95'. Tadpole diver out about 150' back with krokidile spoon worked well too. Can't ever get a dipsy to fire, even with varying depths and presentations all day. Couldn't seem to find that brown for the slam though! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  21. Hello All! Been a lurker for some time but finally made an account. I have a 16' Starcraft patriot nicknamed the "the Death Star" that I have owned for some time. Have taken that boat all over and has been very good to me. Have fished the finger lakes, Hudson River, and many other locations with it. I recently got a 20' sea pro that I plan on using in the finger lakes, as well as the big O. Still looking for this girl to make a name for herself. I'm from northeast Pennsylvania, and fish for a large variety of game fish. At home, fish for walleyes, stripers, Browns and any other big game fish. I fish the finger lakes frequently targeting all species of trout. Have fished Ontario with guides for salmon, as well as the pulaski and Oswego rivers during the runs. Look forward to learning as well as contributing to this great community. Hopefully I can post some helpful information in the upcoming weeks with some of my currently planned trips [emoji41][emoji41].
