Cross cut planer boards?

A guy I work with gave me some "Cross Cut" planer boards. Any one ever used or heard of them? They are plastic and appear to be able to be run on either side. He also gave me 5lb rigger weights thay attach to the bottoms so they run deeper in the water? Any one got any experience with these?
