  1. How's that look Bob
  2. Matt - I found the information below on the some reasoning behind the changes to "Read Tracking" from phpBB2 to phpBB3. While I am not myself sure whether or not I agree the following yet, it does offer more insight. I (like yourself) was accustomed to having all the topics be marked as "read" after I logged out each time. Let me think about this more and I will be interested to hear your (and other's) opinion on the issue. ========
  3. There should be one there at the bottom (right under the quick reply). Go to page Previous 1, 2 (or however many other pages are associated with the current topic. Do you see that Matt on your computer? If not, what browser and OS are you running? Thanks buddy - Chad
  4. Hey Matt - How many posts per page doesn't seem to be a setting that the members can control on their end. I can control that setting on the admin side. For the time issue - I am seeing the correct time on my end. Maybe its a daylight savings issue you are having with yours. There is also a way to customize your time display (and location I think) under your profile > board preferences section. Check that out - it might fix your issue. Thanks again! Chad
  5. Hey guys - Thanks for all the great feedback! Stan and Ray - I am looking into both those issues. We did our best in the Alpha and Beta testing to find all the issues but I expected a couple more things would come once you let the masses in. Thanks for bringing this to my attention as I am can not by myself catch 100% of everything. I'll look into both those issues and get back to you with what I find. Thanks again! Chad
  6. Try it now Bob - Good Catch!
  7. Take some time to get use to some of the new features and enjoy your stay You should notice a HUGE speed increase for the site as well. Post any questions or comments you may have reguarding the upgraded forum here and I will be more than happy to help. Enjoy your weekend and enjoy the new LOU! Thanks again to the Pro Members and moderators who made this possible. Kind regards - Chad
  8. Hahah - that is GREAT Mick!
  9. Welcome to the site Dennis! We have a great Finger Lakes section and lots of guys from that region on this site. Enjoy! Chad
  10. Hey LOU members! Sorry to bug you again but I just wanted to give each of you a fair warning that this Saturday (November 1st, 2008) will be the official launch of the new LOU backend software. We have struggled through months of the Alpha testing and this week will be dedicated to Beta testing with the help of our great moderator staff. They have already found one BIG "opps" on the beta site........ leave it to Bob to test out all the "word censoring" filters and letting me know that I missed a couple catch phrases if you will Anyways, the main LOU site will need to be temporarily shutdown on Saturday morning as we attempt the massive database conversion. Typically in this kind of situation you don't want people writing to the DB while it is trying to transfer everything as it runs the risk of corrupting the data. Everything as you see it on the live site up until Friday night will be preserved (posts, usernames, passwords, etc.). I will keep this message short as to not bore you. Just know that this coming Saturday the site will be shut down in the morning hours as we begin the conversion to phpBB 3.0.2 (the latest and greatest). Everything on the new site will still look and feel the exact same except there will be several new features and we will be running a much more powerful board that should help us stay stable and secure for years to come. If you are interested in seeing the new upgrades that available please click on the image below. I think you will be rather impressed at how big this upgrade really is........ Enjoy the final week on the OLD....... and get ready for the NEW..... Upgrades Included in phpBB 3.0.2 More Info on the Upgrade Coming State of the LOU - Oct. 2008
  11. Sorry about your loss Bob. God Speed.
  12. Welcome to the site floorboy! I am sure you will find plenty of useful information on LOU that you can apply to your adventures on Mich & Superior. Enjoy your stay
  13. Ryan - Welcome to the site! Glad to see you are posting now instead of just watching from the sidelines Sit back, relax and welcome to the community! Chad
  14. Rick - The best that I can tell you from our stats is that the average visitor to LOU stays for 33 minutes PER VISIT! So I would have to guess these poll results so far seem to be pretty honest from what I have seen on the server side Hahaha - Chad
  15. Just out of curiosity..... how much of your "paid working hours" are spent checking up on LOU?
  16. Welcome to the site Colin! Enjoy your stay.
  17. You think loosing your fish to a Kill Whale is painful.... imagine one jumping on you!
  18. Thanks fellas! Only the LOU Pro members will get the "salmon" version of the header. The rest of the LOU members will get the "rainbow trout" version. See the about us page for an example or just wait a bit while I get the rest of the header stuff in place across the rest of the site. The KEY to any good website is easy navigation and that is basically what we were trying to accomplish here. Straight-forward simple nav... Thanks again for the kind words everyone! Cheers - Chad
  19. Thanks Rick! The new header for basic members will be out soon.
  20. All Pro members should see the new header now. If you don't simply hit refresh. Let me know if anyone is having issues or if things looks a little strange. I have done my best to test the new header across several different browsers and operating systems. Thanks! Chad
  21. Hi LOU Members - This is simply an FYI as to what I have been working on lately: The problem: Site Navigation (unless your a Pro member) Description: There are several areas on the site that can be used for navigation. This includes the header, tabs at the top of the site, links in the top right corner of the site, more links down the left column of the site and finally links in the footer and within the forum itself. While this is usually not a problem, it can confuse new users to the board who simply want a straight-forward navigational schema in place. We want to move towards a more standard means of navigation - something much simpler like a text based (for quick load times) navigation menu across the top of the site in place of the 4 current HUGE tabs that take up too much real estate at the top. Professional members will get to see and test out the new header first and once all looks good we will go post it for the rest of the LOU masses. The header will not be much different from what you see right now, just a little bit quicker on the load time and easier to navigate. We are excited about it and we hope you will like it also.... I expect the new header to be ready within the new few days. Thanks! Chad
