Ive always felt like trolling was akin to trapping and making your set. Its the technical aspect that makes it fun for me. To keep things fun I'll tell a buddy to run his side of the boat or make sure the kids are picking the spoons etc. I probably get more pleasure landing a walleye or steelhead on an outside board effectively without tangles than getting the bite itself if that makes sense. Same concenpt for a tipup 'set' v being in the shanty jigging. Theres a reason more people hunt than trap and if the fishery keeps supporting good results for King jiggers I expect more people to give it a try because its a thrill-but it'll never satisfy those guys that want to perfect their set.

I wish all these bass guys fishing smallies in Jeff County right now would switch over to salmon. Up here the parking lots are stuffed a week before bass are even legally targetable. Goes to the point of promotion-ever since ESPN deemed Jeff County the best smallie fishing in the world its been jammed packed.

Another outdoor decision by Washington

The rails are being greased in many ways for technologies nobody asked for and a lot of folks don't want. The raw materials are being fought over between countries and corps. The govt is buying stakes in private mining companies, particularly rare earths. https://www.tradingview.com/news/reuters.com,2026:newsml_L4N3Z01XF:0-trump-administration-pivots-to-buying-stakes-in-critical-sectors/ https://www.foxbusiness.com/technology/amazon-digs-deep-ai-gold-copper-mine-partnership-fuels-massive-data-center-expansion https://www.hindustantimes.com/world-news/signing-of-long-term-deal-for-supply-of-uranium-for-india-s-n-power-generation-expected-during-canada-pm-s-visit-101771997765309.html If you are a Micron (bought wetlands cheap, filled over 250 ac), solar company/grid infrastructure (NYSDEC General Permits speedup permitting/review), data centers, or mining the raw materials to build this industry up you'll have greased rails and the public comment is just a formality. -
Three Way rig for spring browns?
Kingfisher06 replied to SusanJames's topic in Tackle and Techniques
In shallow, it seems like too much. Ive run deep diver stick on bottom and lite spoon (stinger) above rig for walleyes many times and its decent, but I think in shallow for browns you are running shallow sticks that dont dive hard enough for good seperation from spoon. Maybe after the early bite and you slide out to 20' of water and can run a deep diver it may be worth it. just my two cents... -
Ice Fishing for trout, Henderson Harbor General Area
Kingfisher06 replied to Joey33's topic in Ice fishing
Ive caught steelhead near sacketts. but just by luck. I think if i had to catch Lake O trout maybe the best bet would be on Stony creek in the channel. IDK about safety so it could be very dicey, but it is generally a slow moving creek that Id imagine locks up. Maybe if the lake locks up the mouth of Stony could produce browns/steel. Otherwise, the inland lakes around Theresa have some atlantics and lakers. -
I live in the Cape area and normally the boat goes into hibernation once the eyes migrate to Quinte and hunting season ramps up, BUT for some reason all the sudden I want to a top-tier challenge. I know the area very well and its just silly I haven't chased them yet. I'm really not expecting any huge results as a rookie here, but would at least like to have this rig running true for one of my presentations. I plan on using a 8" Believer to a C90 Williams spoon. Is a jointed believer better or a one-piece? Do you remove the back hook or leave it in place? How long is the leader to the spoon and what material do people prefer? I plan on running two riggers, two boards, and possibly long lines. Where in the spread is this rig best placed? What surface speed is best? Any info is very much appreciated and I do have all the proper gear for proper catch n release.

Henderson area
Kingfisher06 replied to Fishmedic's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Fished the shipping channel wall a few days ago out near main duck. Just shakers and lakers for us. Wasnt seeing the screen I normally see out there, but that doesnt mean they are not there. Quite a few boats out there and henderson charters were there and I didnt see any big silvers getting netted. Now that this cooldown is here and some north winds happening, wouldnt be surprised to see some fish are moving into the waters off calf as they start thinking about getting into the trench. -
So, after pulling my hair out for a few weeks and going through all ya'lls suggestions, I finally realized my power trim has a very slow leak. The little bit of sheen on the water after launching each time was power trim fluid. I must have a bad seal. Maybe I over filled the reservoir this spring and/or the seal has just gone bad. Anyhow, thanks for the suggestions, and I thought important to update ya'll in case you were wondering.

And Kevin, you’re right, maybe the best start to a year river fishing I can remember. -

Correct me if I am wrong-the large flush of Quinte eyes that we fish in the spring have not been replenished in large part due to the Canadians ceasing their stocking program-is that true? -

Wish I could have attended but had to coach little league. I am wondering if they talked about how much we rely on Bay of Quinte fish migrating to Chaumont in the spring. I think, if my memory serves me right these post spawn Quinte fish nearly B-line to Chaumont to intercept the spawning alewives-backed up by Queens University GPS studies. If these Quinte fish are bypassing Chaumont for areas with better bait (this year) maybe it seems like our native #s are lower when they might not be? -
Friday I am going to have some time to go through all these suggestions, much appreciated. I'm not the best mechanic, hoping the problem is staring me right in the eyes lol.

Good to know. I'll do that experiment. Also, I am gassing it pretty hard to get onto trailer each time I take it out-wonder if that big push can leave excess gas somewhere that finds its way out on the next launch. Thank you, much appreciated.

Will do, thanks for the tips!

Have a 2005 90hp 4stroke Merc on my Lund. Recently, last 5-6 times I've launched the boat, as soon as the engine hits the water there is a little gas sheen around the engine. It's really not much, maybe 3-4 sq ft that doesnt grow in size, just instantly appears after dunking it in. I think this is really the first time I've seen this after a decade of use. Motor runs great, nothing has changed on that front. Is it just excess gas from the exhaust from the previous time out? Any thoughts? Appreciate it.

Something to ponder...these solar farm people are offering land owners long term land leases for what seems like lucrative paydays. Long term leases up to 50 years. In 50 years the US dollar will be toilet paper. Don’t be fooled. Tricks like these were used during the oil boom too.

New nuke tech with small footprints should be considered first. These solar/wind farms are scabs on the land.

Up at the mouth of the Larry water levels are low, but not so low that it’s out of the range of previous years in last decade. Getting a good three days of rain beginning today that ought to replenish most opening day duck spots. Remember when the IJC jackals told us to just wait for the deluge coming from upstream lakes that will substantiate this new norm of high water caused by global warming? LOL
