  1. Here is a good place to start looking to see what they cost new. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templ ... d=cat21276
  2. Thanks for the report. It's nice to hear that the boats are starting to come out. I'm planning on a shake down this weekend. Was waiting for some rain forecasts so I can use my rain suit.
  3. Try this out `rock. This is how I got started. I never tried to figure out what the difference was between buying vs making flies. For me, makeing my own flies adds a little more satifaction to the fishing experience. http://www.lakemichiganangler.com/tips/ ... ctions.htm http://www.lakemichiganangler.com/store ... r_Kits.htm
  4. Beautiful setup. May the fish gods be with you.
  5. Congratulations. She looks like she'll catch fish. Good luck with her and hope to see you out on the water.
  6. This is what is legal in New York State. Page 14 under definitions> http://www.dec.ny.gov/docs/fish_marine_pdf/nyfg0809.pdf "Angling means taking fish by hook and line. This includes bait and fly fishing, casting, trolling and the use of landing nets to complete the catch. Anglers must be in immediate attendance when their lines are in the water. An angler may operate no more than two lines with or without a rod, and each line is limited to not more than five lures or baits or a combination of both, and in addition, each line shall not exceed fifteen hook points in any combination of single, double or treble hooks. Snatching, lifting, hooking and use of tip-ups are not angling."
  7. Seems that it is legal. It's like a fixed slider. Would it be ok to use if he were fishing for salmon or trout?
  8. Goat, adding a image is a snap. Scroll down below and just below the message body box in the lower left corner in blue letters is "Add image to post". Click that and it will take you to a browser feature in your computers directory. Go to were you have your pictures stored, select the picture you want to show and upload it. That simple. Good luck. BTW, nice fish.
  9. RR is giving you good info . We ran that combo last Sat. and we really didn't do much on the surface but did connect better down deeper. That can change daily so follow RR's advice and tweak it from there. Surface temps were 34-35 on our temp readings but should start to warm a bit around creek mouths with all the runoff this week. Watch out for debris in the lake as the water level goes up.
  10. Thanks Chris for the update. I will be replacing my 18 year old autopilot soon and I have been interested in the X5. Please keep us informed on how the install goes and how the unit works. The big thing is will it troll. I've bought several items from Hodges Marine and they have been great to deal with so I would expect that you'll be satisfied with them also. Good luck with it.
  11. The picture and report ^ is all straight stuff from today. The caption is,....well you decide
  12. Went out today on a buddies boat out of T-Falls. The water is as low as I've ever seen it and the bubbler hose is floating in a couple spots near the ramp. Use a little caution and you'll be OK. May as well give a report while I'm at it. We fished mostly down the lake below Crowbar. It was reaaal slow for us. Blew a couple hours running surface stuff with no results. Popped a northern down on the flats and decided to try something different. Moved to deep water and sent out the wire dipsey & ran the riggers down. All but one salmonoid was caught 50' to 80' down over the 200' - 350' bottom. Surface temp was from 34.4 to 35 where we were. Brought home these 3 rainbows and 2 browns for our days effort.
  13. Worth checking out. Compare specs vs $ vs support. http://www.hodgesmarine.com/FURUNO-FCV6 ... fcv620.htm
  14. Will the spoons need a little tune-up because of the extra drag the skirts add?
  15. Thanks Chris for the reply. I also got one of those emails saying that they were in stock. I logged on the the site and it was listed as "IN Stock" so I put it in my shopping cart and stopped there. That is when I made the post about the unit being available. As bad as I would like to have one of those units I wouldn't buy one without it being on the market for awhile. My back is not against the wall for a autopilot so right now time is on my side,...`till mine breaks
  16. Well, the Raymarine Smartpilot X5 is finally in stock. First come, first served. http://www.hodgesmarine.com/ProductDeta ... =RAYE12206 Who wants to be the guinea pig?
  17. What J F says and also if you don't want to hand carry a renewal just mail it to your local county run DMV and save the leg work.
  18. You just got to love to eat those river `eyes . .... .> http://www.pressconnects.com/article/20 ... GECAROUSEL
  19. Click on 69's & 40's screen name and check out all the fish reports they give. Then you will know what your dealing with here.
  20. I'd be buying all my stuff online if I lived in wester NY.
  21. I've run my FF's with my boat on the trailor in the driveway many times. Worked with my Eagle, Garmin & Furuno. It seems to read about twice the distance that it is above the blacktop/concrete. Put your scale on 10' or 20' range. Works even better if the humidity is high. If someone passes something between the `ducer & floor you'll see the mark on the screen. If your going to take the `ducer off to get it tested you might as well put a new one on. Won't be much difference in cost by the time you pay for shipping & testing. http://www.hodgesmarine.com/FURUNO-525S ... st-pwd.htm Anyway, good luck with your new setup. A few more weeks and it's hammer time.
  22. Ditto what Shawn said. Tops on customer service. Usually same day response.
  23. Nice going sluggo, .......boy do I remember those days. It's amazing how you forget the cold for a few minutes when you feel that bump. Isn't adrenalin a wonderful thing?
  24. Im using this. Works fine for me. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templ ... hasJS=true
  25. Try this calculator out. It will give up a better idea of what each transducer will show. http://www.furunousa.com/Furuno/Rooms/D ... 4D5E%5D%5D In the lower left cornor of the page is a link to a .pdf file on transducers. Good stuff. It should help you understand how each type of `ducer works .
