  1. yup, the conservation license has lower take/posession limits than the full sportfishing license. Tim
  2. Not to worry, rumor has it they are burning the beds and fumigating the room as we speak Tim
  3. Thanks for the recap and nice words Ray. It was nice to finally meet you as well. Thanks to you and everyone else that joined this weekend. Dan and Dave seemed pleased with the weekend and there was already some preliminary talks of doing it again next year. I know I walked out of the expo this afternoon with not a single dollar left in my pocket. The A-Tom-Mik display seemed to be 3 deep the entire day. Now I can't wait to get out and play with all my new toys. Tim
  4. stan, that is a perfect place to use a slide diver lite bite, it has release arms both front and back and you can set to back one to release so light that any shaker big enough to take your bait will trip it, yet set the front release tight enough that it isn't always false releasing from boat pull www.slidediver.com Tim
  5. Howie, pretty much what I said above. Figure a 3:1 ratio with a large dipsy on a 2 setting with a flasher, so, for instance, 180 back will be down approx 60 feet. large dipsy with a spoon on a 2 setting, not quite 2:1, so 120 back would probably be down 50-55 feet. Tim
  6. I agree. If that were me, I'd be, as they say, "making whitewater" in the other direction Tim
  7. lead core approx 4-5 feet per color at 2.5 mph steel, not sure what you're looking for. Wire diver with a flasher/fly figure approx 3:1 on a 2 setting 45 lb copper (.037 diam) approx 22 feet per 100 feet of copper at 2.5 YMMV Tim
  8. The good news is, the closest ATM machine is just 1/4 mile up the road at the gas station/minimart Tim
  9. same here, it just wouldn't feel right without those riggers singing. Tim
  10. Brian, the problem is they've alreayd lost me and won't get me back. I had a FH for years and had my fill of the numbers jumping around and eating batteries, so after I lost yet another probe, I took the FH off and bought a Depth Raider and have since sold the remaining components of the FH. I couldn't be happier with the DR. I don't have any problem with the coated cable, so that's not really a negative and I use 1 probe battery a season. If they wouldn't have waited until everyone on the planet procuced a better product to improve theirs up to the same level as the competition, they might not have lost the market share they did. Just my thoughts on the matter. I'm sure the X4 will be a fine unit, but I'll never know firsthand (unless I happen to be on someone elses boat that owns one). Tim
  11. Hey guys, The tables have all been assigned and the Exhibitor Layout is posted in the Expo section on the LOTSA website www.lotsa.org Thanks and we'll see you next weekend. Tim
  12. Fished the SBH this afternoon. Ice is still 10-12 inches of good clear solid ice. Tons of dinks, which is ok because we wanted to get some of those for pike bait on the tip ups. Got the tip up's set and killed time catching dinks and the occasional bigger one waiting for the pike action to start around dusk. We had 5 flags fly with 3 no shows and 2 swing and misses, so nothing on the tip ups, but right at dusk they started slamming the jigging rapalas. I ended up 3/4 on the jigging raps in a 30 minute period. Largest was 24", the other two landed were 20-21". John went 2/4 on the jigging raps, both undersize. I ended the day with the 24" pike, 4 perch and 2 nice sunfish on the ice. Nice day to be on the harbor, not a lot of company in the afternoon. We were there from 1:00 till a little after 6:30. Tim

  14. Fishlander is out of business as far as I know Try Warrior Lures: http://www.warriorlures.com/ that is Mike Steffes (sp?) who used to be with Fishlander and I believe his spoons are pretty much what Fishlanders were. I haven't been able to find a website for Pro-King either, just online tackle shops that sell them. Tim
  15. I agree, I've got 2 Heartland wire diver rods 6 seasons old and going strong with no guide wear. Tim
  16. Transportation Worker Identification Card (I think) Tim
  17. Jekyll, yes, you said it right. That pic was just a really funny bit of work about a ragboat cutting too close behind a trolling rig. Tim
  18. Hank, that's a different company, here's the link to Lenco's site: http://www.lencomarine.com/ I've had lenco's on my boat for 3 seasons now without issue, mainly because I didn't want to deal with any hassles with hydraulics with the bennets, hopefully they hold up. I believe Lenco's are standard equipment on a number of manufacturers such as Albermarle and Steigercraft. Tim
  19. No Ray, I think arrogance is the right word. Ragboaters ALWAYS think they have the right of way, even when they don't (such as when under power and not under sail). That's arrogance, because they are unapologetic about it, even when called out. I will always love skeiners photoshop brilliance in regards to this topic, still cracks me up every time I see it Tim
  20. I see Yvan mentioned it above, You will be able to register for the King of the Lake Tournaments at the Scotty Booth at the LOTSA Expo on the 22nd. From what I understand, you will also be able to book your slip for the Wilson Tournament at the EXPO. Tim
  21. Just as an FYI. The Keating/Mull Lockport Salmon Clinic is sold out and Dan Keating is taking names on a waiting list. Tim
  22. John, they do still catch plenty of Lake O browns and steelies though Tim
