  1. Along with incredible restrictions in & around the areas of the power generators, What about the reduction on Home values along the shore lines of the lake. I personally would not spend a premium for a water front property that all you will see is windmills for miles. What I don't understand is if these generators are so great, then why are the wind generators placed near Elmira, N.Y not generaly in operation. I would also assume the cost to maintain these out in the lake would be astronomical. Green is great, but most of these projects turn out to be unsucsessful & costly. We as Sportsmen, Fishermen & Captains need to voice our opinions & hopefully we can be heard! A project like this is not temporary & like any other development there is always a negative impact to the enviroment. Capt. Randy Orbach / Hit or Miss Charters
  2. Also , Remember minimum size on Atlantics in Lake Ontario are 26 inches .
  3. There is to many Fish in the Lake we Need to Catch More!
  4. Great Job Glen!!! See you at the dock ! Capt. Randy
  5. Fished the 70-120 line off the rocks on thursday with Blue smelt & Bubble stingers firing on the riggers 85 back & down 16'- 40'. Sliders in chartruse Shad patterns were also being taken. we managed 4 for 6 on steelheads, 2Atlantics (one being 12lbs) 2 small browns & 2 15lb Kings. Friday was tougher the temp dropped due to the wind (47deg) on top. We did have a fair day on Small steelies & a couple of Browns. Saturday decided to make a run up north & did Ok on browns 6 for 9. It seemed not one lure took 2 fish Goby patterns & Smithwicks off the boards worked best. On sunday fished off the river & took again 6 browns & jack king. Jessica's Goby , Smokey smithwick, & Electric Shad fired until we called it at 11am. Monday was Barbque & Day, The fish will have to wait until this weekend! Capt. Randy
  6. Congrats!!!!! Looks Like There's a Snoopy Rod in the Future!
  7. After the rain Friday nite, we decided to head of the Salmon river on Saturday Mourning. The browns were Super active & were taking a host of different offerings. The best were Glow Chicken wing, R&R Frog , Green Hornet, & Smithwicks in Black / Silver , Bleeding Shad, & Fire tiger. We made one pass beyond the river & called it a day. All the fish were 3-4lbs. We boated over 25 . Sunday the water cleared & we managed to find 47-49 deg water in tight taking only 5 for 9. The weather both days was fantastic! It's nice to see the fishing on the East side of the lake doing this well! Remember to stop & see Jon at the LSR tackle shop for the lastest info & toys, He now stocks Dave's Kaboom Lures!! & His wall of Black (Stinger Spoons)is GROWING!! Capt Randy / Hit or Miss Charters
  8. Rod, Ive been doing something similar for years, cut a piece of surgical tubing & slide it(over the eye) down the shank of the hook . It keeps the line from fouling in the gaps of the treeble hook. The nice thing is it does'nt change the weight of the hook so the action of the fly is still the same. The tubing I use is the same that you use for bobber stops. This is really effective on cut bait rigs with the long leaders. I havn't lost a fish to fouling since I started using this trick! the tubing comes in colors or clear. No glue needed! I also have to throw a plug in for Gary at BIG WEENIE, his Flies are Super along with Quality Flourocarbon Leaders & 3X Strong Owner Hooks!! Check them out at! http://www.bigweeniebrand.com Capt. Randy Orbach -- Hit or Miss Charters
  9. I forgot some important items like Conch Fritters , Key Lime pie & most of all The Margaritas to help finish off a hard day of fishing. It almost like WORK---- Almost!
  10. I'll be hanging out in Islamorada for most of the time, Might have to sneak a day trip down to Key West . Remember what happens in Key West ---????? OH' Yea Stays in Key West!!! Looks like the weather should be OK. Mid 60's to mid 70s. Looks like it might be good weather for fishing & Coronas. I'll try to get some pics down loaded when I'm Back-- Capt. Randy
  11. I'm Leaving for the Keys on Thursday & fishing till next tuesday. Will post a report when I get back. Plan on fishing for Sails & kings , might throw a day in casting for Tarpon. Capt. Randy
  12. Looking for some input on Auto pilots. I'm planning on up grading the Raytheon unit on my 265 Pro Hunter. I was thinking on installing a Garmin unit. They seem like a nice unit with a lot of standard features. The boat is a straight inboard. Suggestions & info appreceiated. Capt. Randy
  13. I'm not opposed to more lines in the water, But in my oppinion then there should also be a rule to a maximum amount . If you have Charter boats with a party of 6 plus the captain & mate now would translate into 24 rods. Again , this is only my oppinion . I understand when fishing with a limmited crew it is a benifit to having more rods out. I also realize that this would be extreme & I hope most anglers would fish with sense. Capt. Randy
  14. Thanks Hank, You were exactly right. I've done alot of Merc IOs. This is the first Suzuki I pulled apart. It went well after unbolting the throttle linkage arm..... Thanks again! Capt. Randy Orbach -- Hit or Miss Charters
  15. Looking for a little help, I'm working on a 83' Dt 75 Suzuki outboard 2 stroke & I'm in the process of changing out the water pump impeller, but I don't see where to disconnect the shift linkage to drop the lower unit. Whats the Trick? Thanks for any info. Capt. Randy
  16. Dick, I have an older furuno 620 on board along with a Sitex with a triducer and a Lowrance unit. The Sitex is a tru hull triducer & works ok while on plane , the lowrance unit is ok for shallow fishing, but the Furuno definitly marks fish well. I did up grade the transducer & the Tech from Furuno told me how to splice it into the existing harness. This is a transom mount transducer which allows me to see the riggers along with it marking my wire dipsey out 175 ft? I think it reflects off the wire & shows the dipsey diver off that side. On bottom lock you can see the kings comming off to attack! I can run both the Sitex & the Furuno simultainiously, being the Sitex was special ordered with a 135kz freq. I seen the Furuno 585 unit at work & must say If I were to up -grade it would definitly be on my List! Hope this helps. Capt. Randy
  17. This would definitly be an Economic impact....... The blow up doll company will loose Sales!! Capt. Randy --- Hit or Miss Charters
  18. I personally Don't have a problem with more rods per person. I've fished with people from the Great Lake of Michigan & they have a Nack on how to run 16 or more rods out the back of their boats! The only problem is , on the Big "O" when the fish are cocentrated to a small area there will be boats trying to run a mass of rods & boards in a Battle Zone sreaming at other fishermen that they are not capable of navigating their Vessel due to their Disability! We all have run into this situation a time or two. I understand that we like to run the program that works to catch fish & we all like having the upper hand on our prey, but common sense should also fall into the equation! Capt. Randy -- Hit or Miss Charters
  19. Glen, Yep. The impeller may have been frozen to the pump housing, and when you started the engine it tore some of the impeller sections off. At higher RPMs it would pump enough water to keep it cool especially with the cold outside temperatures. But at idle it could not pump fast enough. The pieces of impeller could also restrict flow. I'd check it for sure! Capt. Randy -- Hit or Miss Charters
  20. Hey Guy's Check out Big Weenies Site .... Gary has all types of tapes & ladders including the straight Ladders used on Pro Kings. His U.V ladder tapes are killers!!! www,bigweeniebrand.com Gary is great to deal with!! Super fast service! Capt. Randy
  21. Here in Pa............ $1.97 !!!
  22. Tjozz, The guy's are right! The west is best in the spring, But if you're looking for Big Matures, head to Mexico the 2nd. week in August & sneek out to 150 ft of water.Drop a couple Cut Bait rigs where you see the Little Rascals plus some Flippers with Flies off the wires , Oh don't forget the Big ugly glow Mag spoons mixed in between. We had a short but very sucsessful Fall this past season on Big Fish. We also have nice People, Places & Things! Capt. Randy -- Hit or Miss Charters
  23. Hey Guys, I recieved the X-4 probe this past season & the new probe works Great. The x-4 logic is slower than the old units so the speed is much more stable, it performs much like the Moor sub troll . The temperature is normally right on! The down speed appears to be about 2-3 tenths per mph slower than actual. You'll find that 1.8-1.9 down speed will be suitable for that fall salmon trolling speed. Running my older probe (which performed well) would calcuate a 2.0-2.2 down speed for the same conditions. Also the battery life is super(with quality batteries). Of course not being sure, but the flashing LED light may be fish attractor!! Next , how about an E Chip Probe??? Capt Randy --- Hit or Miss Charters
  24. Hold on everyone,First we as fisherman should all be come members.. just think how much it would cost these Tree huggers to check all new members as to which are For or against?? Also the Ice cream idea will help put retired Hooters babes back to work!!! Nice!! Capt Randy
