After having Toyota Tundras since 2000 I was ready for a change of pace.[No complaints at all about Toyota]I bought a Honda ridgeline. I wanted to stay with a smaller sized truck. Sunday I finally got a chance to tow the boat. Its a 21ft fiberglass boat fully loaded with equipment My guess of weight is 3000 to 4000lbs. The ridgeline is a V6 . and it did a super job handleing the boat. The ridgeline is front wheel drive and when you put it in 4wheel drive the rear tires lock in. Never went past 60mph. But I could have easily . No sway or chucking. Im getting 5 more MPG with the ridgeline than I got with the Toyota. So far Im impressed with this "truck" Fished Cayuga Sunday caught 5 or 6 dinks..

Ray we have been known to catch a occasional buckeye and salmon. browns are there but they dont know how to catch em. Im thinking this trip could be the start of another addiction. Now that Im unemployed I can concentrate on important things. Anyone have better driving directions then "head south till you cant stand the smell ,then turn east"? -

big fish question
Fishstix replied to wolfman's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
I probably should just throw em back, because someone always has one bigger. But it would probably work best to put them in a plastic bag then put them on ice. It would keep everything all together. Cabelas has fish thingy kits . You have to call they are not in the catalog. ot Abes tackle in Sodus had a few kits last year ,call him. -
My first Tundra V8 had 160,000 miles on it when I traded it in I now have 110,000 on my second Tundra . With the miles I drive if I can pick up a few MPG. It wouldnt take long to add up to serious cash. I test drove a Ridgeline. Rides as nice as a car. I will probably only tow the boat 5 or 6 times a year.My guess on the boat weight is probably around 4,000lbs. My boat trailer has brakes. Im used to towing,I drive truck. Thanks for all the replies. Keep em comming.

Im looking at a ridgeline. Anyone got any comments? Ive got a Tundra now but I dont like the new ones. Ive had Toyota 8yrs now . Ive had no issues with Toyota but its time for something different.

Anyone know anyone that works for Citgo or Sunoco? I would like to try their gas. Ill tell you my spin on LO fishing its a little off topic but it affects us all. I have a close contact with the DEC. Licence sales are down. The state is putting more money in bike trails, canoe launches, hiking trails stuff like that.less into fishing ,stocking etc. So people come to lake o they must catch fish. If they dont they wont come back. Hey you got a hot spoon goin? What is it? You going to say it on the radio? Im not anti tourny or derby but I do notice how quiet the radio is when one is on. Other people are listening also. People that need to catch a fish or they wont be back. Im just as bad. If someone askes me directly I tell em. Im not 100% reveling in my posts either. [i used to be] But my posts are honest. Bottom line is everyone that fishes LO must catch fish. We all stand to gain if they do. Ive probaby got two years worth of untried spoons ,dodger, flies in the boat now.Three boxes as of last count. Still buying more.

If you can get one to sweat enough to kick the bilge pump on"Your The Man"

You should go ,you never know what you might catch.

Thanks for the comments guys. The pro am thing should be a fun deal. I Have to start looking for a crew. Most of the guys I fish with are independent.Dont like to be tied to a schedule. As for me back when I had the time I didnt have the money, now that I have the money I dont have the time.. Team Hughes doesnt have a bad ring to it either..

I did what I set out to do this year. Put fish in the Spring , summer and fall derbys. Fished only weekends. Next goal is pro ams.[amature division] I hope I have time next year to fish all four. Team Fishstix has a nice ring to it.Just add Tarter sause.

I would like to get my boat professionaly buffed and waxed. Its not that bad but I would like to keep it looking new. Its 21ft . Fiberglass. Anyone around central NYS. do this? Perfer Binghamton area or Ithaca area. Owego area. CASH paid....

My other boat had one of those type brackets on it.It was a constant battle.I let a buddy of mine use my boat one day . He almost cut his finger off trying to reliece the trip mechcinism[sp]. Trip to hospital, stiches etc. My best advice is a solid bracket and then buy a kicker motor with power tilt. Problem solved before you fall off the boat and get more than wet feet. You can transport motor easily on a solid bracket. You can lock motor to a solid bracket. I know this doesnt really answer your question but it does solve your problem. Just tell your wife its a safety thing. You dont want to get caught in a storm without a good safe backup motor.

Friends don't let friends...fish Lake Ontario
Fishstix replied to Gator's topic in Open Lake Discussion
It has been a really tough year. Wind ,currents have really been off.Nothing has been consistant. Then you get a day like today.Bait and fish all over. Most everything you put down catches a fish. Yesterday I know of a guy that caught a 10lb walleye in 700fow 50 down. Yesterday we rotted in the water. 1 fish. They simply were not where they should have been .Then came back with a vengence today. I guess Im not ready to give up on ole LO yet. Last year was the best year for me ever. This year has been the worst . Im thinking everything goes on cycles and Ill be at it again next year.Hopefully all the little detail stuff I learned this year trying to put a fish in the box will pay off next year and the fish will be back. -
If you check their site go to super glows and check out the "see it glow" option. I am not a salesman for warrior spoons. But if in these tough fishing times they put a fish in the box . They should be real good when the bite starts.

http://www.warriorlures.com/ I think they bought fishlander, not sure though, Their purple frog has been a great king spoon.Brns came on their glow chicken wing. Lots of eye candy on this site. I ordered the blue dolphin, green dolphin and tiger shark. They are supposed to be in by this weekend.
