  1. Thanks for the N shore report. I ve got a couple questions. First is about the blue spoons. silver blue? all blue? I didnt run much blue till last yr and Im working on my blue spoon setup. We have the same ,bait piles all over , but the salmon are almost nonexistant . Im in the SE central part of the lake.
  2. Billie V only advice Ive got is leave your temp probe in the cuddy and throw out the boards and go spring time brn trout fishing.Run 2 splitshot instead of one. Run a little faster say 2.7 or so sog. No Promises we started slow Sunday. After listening on the radio we left fish to go find fish.Worked our way back but the big bite was already over. We did 7 or so rainbows and brns.I think no promises can varify the above info. Did you guys catch any lakers on top this weekend?
  3. 81 hits and I finally get a reply ...ME... Well Holy mackerel can take his frozen fish out of the freezer and put Willie fishes fish in .Top two brns as of now are out of Hughes... Those retired guys are hard to beat .My brns are dropping fast.
  4. Truth is most of the time they dont hit.I fished part of the water you are talking about this weekend the area between ginna and pville and those fish 20 ft and down would not wiggle a rod.All board and high rigger action. My advise would be [after this weekend anyway] shorten you leads run smaller snap swivels , I also switched up to 30lb test line this weekend. My buddies picked up a slob laker off the top in that 67 degree water Sunday. I did a couple last weekend. My best advise is run stuff you know catches fish at the moment the best spoon in that area for me has been 42 second spoon or yellow and white optimisers.I have not had much of a fly bite. Im not getting down on speed and temp units. Ive got one. I just catch most of my fish out of temp.I would say he probably has a speed problem. Hedges to Pville is probably a all day troll.Pick a point of land and work the water off it. Stay in one area. In all directions shallow and deep.I used to troll in a straight line I dont anymore . I aim for 2.1 SOG.Also look for that mossey green stuff floating in the water . Try and fish around it and not in it. Look for humps and bumps on the bottom. If your marking a lot of bait piles ,pick another line unless its first thing in the morning.Keep changing direction. Get away from the packs of boats. Look for swallows swopping on the water. I could go on and on.
  5. Chaos, my kids a DEC officer. In the real world now. I probably should not put this in print but.... But the state needs money. The big push is for pollution fines, emissions etc. They bring in the bucks. Thats why I report on these boards. When people go fishing they need to catch fish.Or they will find something else to do. Fishing is dieing out. license sales are down. fewer people are fishing. So less and less attention is being given to fishing. Spill a little motor oil down a drain somewhere or burn a pile of junk and you will find a DEC officer, fish all summer and you will probably never see one.
  6. Some guys slaughtered em some did OK. Its still Brn town around here. My neighbor weighed in the big brn Fri. He said he had to show me what a big one looked like. It was almost frozen waiting for the end of the derby.Theres still a few big ones around I hope to knock him down a peg. Heard of a few salmon caught but I didnt see any. I caught a few steelhead but mostly worked on the brn bite. I now have two fish on the board. No lure or color has been consistant. The fish I weighed in today came on a yellow and white optimiser. 20 down over 35FOW.
  7. http://www.coastwatch.msu.edu/ontario/o21.html For a little mini poll. Is it worth running out to the 35 bar 77-10? It is almost straight out from my home port. I have hit these small pockets of warm water way out in years past and slaughtered the fish. But with gas like it is . Is it worth it?
  8. I talked to "Willie Fish" . He fished this week. Had a steady bite all week. In close on a N&S troll. Salmondbound and Abes report on the above site confirm it. It looks like its still not time to put the boards away.Ive been wanting to get into some kings but if the conditions are right for brns and steelies "thats what Im fishing for".I see there is a cloud cover this Morn but the cold water is still in close. I used to check the LO surface temp map regularly in yrs past. But I found it to be very unrelyable or inaccurate is probably a better word.I know it changes fast . But it seemed to way off. I started checking it this yr. and they seem to be better at it. That cold water in tight should set up for some excellent weekend fishing. Just another piece of the puzzle that is LO. A hard puzzle to put together when all the pieces are blue..
  9. http://www.abes-tackle-box.com/ Must not be fog.I hope it holds till this weekend . Another site I check regular.
  10. http://www.coastwatch.msu.edu/ontario/o21.html If so let me know how you did. It looks like a smoker.I almost cant believe its right.Fog maybe?
  11. Just a little reply to my own post. I just checked the loc leader board. Its kinda nice to see all the Stingers on there. Ott ! whats that doin on top? Now I really hope that fish makes it to the end. Ive got a couple Stinger guys I fish with and I run them also. Im loyal to whats working and usually have a mix down. It will make for some great radio chatter next weekend.I will probably never get a Stinger hat now. BTW Sunday morn I found the exact lure that caught the BRN hanging in my boat with the hook tips and barbs filed off. I wonder who did this? Hmmmm.I dont think it was one of the stinger guys .It was Probably Postman. Its all in fun. If I would have thought of it I would have done the same thing.I have a great group of guys I fish with out of Hughes and every yr . it seems to get better. Now what can I do to get even? I found a banana stuffed down a rodholder last year.
  12. Nothing special on the tips. We had that Westerly blow Fri nite . Kicked up some colored water in close. Worked that in and out. No color Sunday so we rainbow fished. Kings have not really shown up yet. I see A&M caught a nice one. Depending on conditions we will probably rainbow fish next weekend.
  13. Wow nice fish! your right probably 20 something. Biggest Ive seen this year. Are you not in the summer LOC derby?
  14. Bobs Boy . I answered your radio call Sat . But must be you could not hear me. As far as pictures go I didnt take any pictures. Probably should have.I had the camera in the boat. Fish is in the freezer. The derby runs for a month and Im hopeing for something bigger. Everyone is king crazy, leaving the browns and bows alone. Except up at my camp they are all chompin at the bit to beat me.I caught another brn. today weighed 9.5 . Probably should have weighd a couple steelhead today. But once you put them on the hook and they get thrashing around you pretty much have to keep them. I killed a 9.5 steelhead Sat afternoon that I didnt really want to keep by trying to weigh him. I dont know where all the steelhead came from this year. But they are there week in and week out. Also they have been cooperating all day long. The brn. bite has been tough unless you can find some stained water. Like after the storm we had last Fri. nite.I didnt brn. fish at all Sunday....
  15. Had a pretty good bite going all weekend. Never went over 100FOW. Strange weekend, a good weekend to leave your temp probe home. blue sky ,mid day 57degree water and a laker bite on top? I guess Ive gotta say I catch more fish out of temp than in. Ive already forgotten the fish numbers from sAT, But I remember weighing in the 1st place brn trout in the LOC 13lb 12 oz.. Today was a mega bite day . Had all rods working {except the wires} boated 21 fish this morn. probably 8 or 10 bows in the 9 to 10lb class. also picked up a 9.5 brn. various lakers, kings , cohos. No derby fish . Green spoons was the hot ticket. Only had one fly bite and that was a laker off the top of a baitpile.80 down. Most all fish came off the top or down around 20 feet. Fished less than 100fow all weekend. Long weekend Im beat. If you twist their arm at the weigh station they will put your amature boat name on the LOC leaderboard.
  16. The first place brn was caught on my boat yeasterday by my neighbor. I hope it holds out till the end. My neighbos is now my boat driver. Now its my turn. Did 21 fish today{Sunday} ,no derby fish though.
  17. Interesting looking dodgers. Ive been thinking I should paint up some "black majic" dodgers. Havent had to mess with the dodger stuff yet this yr. Most all our action has been on top. That will change soon though.
  18. Chinook That rig sounds interesting. Are you talking a 1lb weight like a small downrigger ball?Or something like a weight off a threeway swivel? At our port we call em Dodgers if they go side to side. Anything that spins is called a rotator . Saves a lot of confusion.
  19. The steelhead bite has just been amazing this yr.I know Im kinda rough in my posts but thats one of those long skinny steelies. [ what I call em]The big big steelhead will be right along behind them shortly.I would get right back out there.
  20. What a beautiful little baby. Nice pictures. You must be a proud father. I guess I can say this here,Hell Ray would." Your luckey it was a boy you only have 2 rods to worry about". Take a lot of pictures . Not the digital camera type but prints that you hold in your hands.Ive got three kids in there 20s . I didnt take enough pictures.I didnt take them fishing much when they were younger I could not afford it.
  21. Ray you are probably right I havent ran to many honeybees this year.Ive ran the real small ones for cheaters.I ve ran that red /white with black spots I think that colors done already. Im guessing something along the lines of brass and silver w/green glow and bubbletape. Or the good ole purple thunder.Or 42 second spoon. Or NK halogram w/ orange halfback. Or NK vampires. Or stinger tuxedo.Or black majic. Ive cranked them in the past on silver raspberry,Blue and white. Jezz I could go on and on here.
  22. You are better off letting them bite. Because if you kill one 10 more show up for the funeral. Off spray works good . I just try and keep it off my hands. Its tuff when you are in the back of the boat fighting a fish and they are tearing up your anckles, right thru your socks. There were a lot of little flys last Sunday flying around the boat amd they seemed to grow as the day progressed. I would imagine by this weekend they will be anckle nipper size.
  23. If it wasnt its photoshopped now.....
  24. Yep that was me. you were headed NW . I was headed SW.I usually work the skinny water in the morn. Looking for a good brown. Tere has just been to much bait around lately to get the browns to turn on. The fish are there but I havent found a good brn. spoon yet.
  25. Finding a dependable observer is tough. What about a Pro Am patrol? Out on the water? They could run around count rods etc.
