  1. Pierless, I fished Saturday also and did not do so hot either. We stayed between 125 and 200 fow for the entire morning. Had a nice King early in about 135 fow that shook the hook out. After that it was slow. Went 3 for 4 in the morning with all being relatively small. Did catch a nice domeestic stealhead which was cool to see.
  2. The purpose of the knot is so you do not have to mess around with crimping and additional terminal tackle along wih it being very easy and quick to tie. Went to the knot last year and it saves time and money
  3. Did mine the other day. Put the tip above a candle and it came right off in 20 seconds. I am sure both ways are effective
  4. I went from the the Fish hawk to depth raider like the depth raider a lot more. Very steady speed and temp does not bounce around like the fish hawk. Replacement probe like said above is cheaper to replace.
  5. Bought a new dipsy rod and have to put a twill tip on. Looking for the easiest way to remove the tip on the dipsy. Directions say heat up the glue to take it off but I have heard of just cutting it off. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated
  6. Got on the water about 3:00 fished until 7 ish, went 3 for 6, 1 15 lb king and 2 nice stealhead both over 10 lbs. salmon came on the wire out 275, 1st stealhead came on the rigger down 90 ft over 175, 2nd stealhead came on the wire out 125. The 3 lost fish were all on the riggers down 120-130 ft.
  7. Headed out around 6:30 tonight found some good marks down 120 in 175 fow . dropped the downrigger down 140 and the wire out 325, wire fires right away, felt like a nice fish snapped the 30 lb leader on the dipsey. 10 minutes later the downrigger releases, at first I did not think it was big but ITstarted to peel line off. Gave the rod to my niece's boyfriend who has never fished before and he lands this nice 24 lb king. Not bad for his 1st salmon. Fish came on a mag 42nd spoon.
  8. black or chrome whatever 15 lb i can find
  9. YT, you run your copper right off the back downrigger rod holder? I have the pursuit rod holders and track system. Came with the boat when i boat it. Have to say i like them a lot better
  10. got caught in the storm yesterday out in front of fairhaven, the weather changed real quick. I have never seen 3 guys bring in 2 wires, leadcore, 4 downriggers and a planer board so fast in my life. Well I got to see how good the new penn yan did opened up. Used about 10 gallons of gas on the way back. Fishtails, thanks for the info good to know
  11. In the morning we worked 90 to 225 ft of water a little west of port bay. went 3 for 4. 2 kings and a stealhead. all fish came on our wires 300 ft out for the kings and 180 out for the stealhead All fish were Nothing of any good size. all fish were caught in 150-175 fow. After lunch attempted to fish east but the weather turned so we called it a day. Will be out again next weekend.
  12. Finders keepers, thanks for the report i am heading out tomorrow out of port bay to give it a shot. I will let you know how we are doing. What channel are your on? name of my boat is hideout.
  13. Going to start out of port bay and if nothing was going on i was going to go totwards Sodus.
  14. The survey will give you a estimated value of the boat which you then can negotiate from there. You should have a idea prior to having a surveyor come out the estiamted value. You would want a compression check done also. My boat is 26 ft and i can trailer it. I sacrificed cabin space for more room in the back, it is a i/o but the motor is underneath. There is boats out there that are suitable you just have to keep looking. I started out with a small boat and then worked my way up to the 26 ft. If you are not familiar with driving/docking a boat a smaller boat to start out might be better.
  15. I used this coated cable for my depth raider. pretty sure it can be used for sub troll as well. If you give him a call I am sure he can let you know. http://www.captgarys.com/catalog/index. ... th/111_105
  16. heading out this weekend looking to see if anyone has any reports for the area.
  17. I am on my second Penn Yan and have to say they are solid all around. You won't be disappointed. I bought mine in Michigan and had a marine survey done. With the amount of money you are looking to spend I would not buy one without. It is worth the money.
  18. looking for 15 lb shark weights if anyone is selling any
  19. Anyone have them? Something I was thinking about looking into but wanted some opinions first.
  20. We had a rip on the copper last weekend and it took him 15 minutes to realize the fish was off and another 10 minutes to reel the rest in. I thought he was going to pass out.
  21. guys, much appreciated. The way the lake is now it only makes sense to get the lures as far away as possible from the boat.
  22. thanks. What I did was run the copper down he chute for the first time and the last time.
  23. ok somebody tell me how you run 2 wires on 1 side along with the copper and not get a absolute mess of a tangle. Lost my copper in the pro am last week. I know it produces more fish would love to hear from the experts.
  24. Nice report boatino I am going to have to jump on your boat my boat is in port bay. Did you run the copper yet? Rob
