  1. Silverbullet NEVER WANT TO THROW THOSE BACK  IT'S JUST ONE MORE THAT MIGHT STUMBLE ONTO MY LINE  :x AND RUIN MY DAY :!: THEN AGAIN IT WOULD MAKE GAMBLERS DAY
  2. Pat, I have seen that especially with talking to "Buffy" ray as he has had that 1pm bite working. I unfortunately have to leave to go to work by then :x, where as ray doesn't work much  I've been a happy guy this year with the exception of that probe issue Pat I will be working Wednesday evening
  3. Nice Hijinks That's what it's all about. Fighting them is fun especially with a person that's never done it. Keep at it!!
  4. Scott it was a guy named "Robinhood?) and he was talking to "Ontario?" What boat were you in? I didn't have any mag Dipseys on the boat. I was OK once I got the speed going OK, but the riggers up higher weren't going either the 2 we had were down around the dipsey depth.
  5. Ditto on what Jax said about the Big Jons. I used them on that nut case Ray's boat they are freakin nice. I'm just saying if he can't take them back he can just screw............ Them
  6. Took another newbie out today and managed to keep all my equipment this time . Did a 4 for 5 on kings all mid teens and one 20#. The green Mtn Dew spin Doc on the wire out 210-225 with that Siggs green apple fly that has landed 7 fish in two trips in the water . Took 1 on a rigger and lost a leaper on the rigger down 72' back 35' both with the purple/silver/glow R&R. Fished from 90' - 200' (later in the morning) took the fish in 92', 120' 148' and 151'. Heard over the radio and talked with another gentleman I met at the dock that they were getting them 100-150 FOW running their wire back 140-160. I ran one back there without a touch all morning  But they both did well with 10 and 7 fish they said. Noticed yesterday on the Oak site and in talking with Jax that the fishing slowed way down around 10-10:30am and it stopped again for us and the other boat I talked to. Fish disappeared from the screen except for a single fish hear or there. Need to get my speed and temp probe back soon. Speed may have been my problem today but 3.2 on gps seemed to do ok. Noticed fleas were not that bad today at all until we got to the deeper depths. Some times there wasn't more than an inch or 2 on the lines  :?:
  7. Absolutely catch and release only on this guys boat I even put the lakers (when one wonders onto my line :x back to "fight" another day unless it goes belly up or is a nasty gushing bleeder like I got today! What causes that anybody know? Had the same thing happen during the Pro Am. Looked like Nicole Brown Simpson's front steps  Only fish kept, are if it's going on someones wall.
  8. Bob thanks for worrying about me but I'll be fine. you hit those bumbs every now and again. Brian the salmon stuff isn't that hard, but I would sell everything  before I ever went for lakers :x We'll catch up sometime. My bosses wife took the fish to your friend and said he was very very nice and that he has mounted a dozen lakers for you  thanks again.
  9. BP, I bought the Scotty's last year and had the same problem (Jax's remembers me tying them in place :x ) with the teeth slipping. This winter I took them out, put them together and then drilled a hole right through the post area where they go together. I put them back in then put a screw right through the hole. I have run wire off them all year and haven't had one problem. They have worked fine. If your not sure what I mean, you can stop out and see mine. I live in Chili just give me a shout. 354-7700
  10. Henrietta store is getting weak too :x . No wire, no coated cable and the spoons are half empty on the pegs. I asked the guy working there for wire for dipseys and he handed me lead core  :x Seems like they stock the trolling stuff just before the season starts and then they let it run down to nothin.
  11. Brian funny you should say that as I just picked up some wire for another rod  Wish I knew it was you, I would have liked to have talked with ya. What channel do you monitor out there :?: I have been staying on 72.
  12. Ray nicely said :!: That's why I luv ya man :!: Have fun and it makes your winnings that much sweeter :!: I had a blast at the Pro-Am even though I was sick because even though we could have done better, we did well and had a blast doing it
  13. Looking for a little help/advise on getting a guy in a wheel chair into and out of a boat and securing him in there too. He's about 250 lbs of basically dead weight. I am interested in knowing if any of you guys might be interested in maybe helping me out. He is a good friend of mine that I haven't seen in years but have kept in touch with that is driving up from Jersey in maybe a month with a friend of his because he can't drive all that way by himself. He is paralyzed from the waist down after a drunken a-hole ran into him from behind and put him into a center divider about 12 years ago Halloween night:x  He absolutely loves to fish and had gone fishing on my boat way back when I had just gotten it. A bigger boat than my 19.5' would be a HUGE help in having enough room for him and his wheel chair (?) Gas $ and what ever would be put into the mix obviously. Any help would be GREAT
  14. Brian that must have been you that came in right after me. Brown/tan boat? I was just walking back to the trailer when you went by. I almost put that packer fly on too (I have had good luck with it) :x It was hard for me to pull off that Siggs Green apple Working on getting another wire rod together, one isn't cutting it for me. Probe :x or wire :? :?:
  15. FD32, all you need is Eagle Claw or Heartlands in the 8.6' length they will do for you. If you are interested I might have some used Eagle claws that you could start out with at a reasonable price. I need to look them over. Give me a shout if you are interested @ 354-7700
  16. I was going with the wind on my east troll with my top/umbrella up and would get up to 3.5gps and 2.6 on what "WAS" my sub troll which seemed to be the right speed for the few we did hook up with (had 2 other knockoffs with nothing there but I don't "count" those) but it didn't seem to matter. The blow back seemed top be pretty good on the cables. Fosterm22, I too have noticed the crazy currents out there. Blows the rigger balls right behind the motor . Mike by the way no such thing as a nice laker unless it's in a tournament or derby!
  17. Mike and GTN, I was out as you guys might know by seeing Ray's report on my mishap :x  in the AM on Wednesday and found the temp kinda all over the place too. Found 55 - 57 degrees down around 70ft over 145. Didn't mark a lot of fish either. Went 2 for 4 both teen kings. 3 of the fish on the wire w/green MTN dew spin doc and my new green Siggs Riggs fly (name escapes me) out 220 on #2, the other was on the white MNT dew spin doc with a green hypnotist fly on the rigger that just hammered it and went left right to the other rigger before I could say watch out and got tangled in the cable :x All the fish were fought by a real newbie on the boat. First fish was in 110ft of water the 2nd in 175ft and the other 2 were in 145-150foot range. ALL HEADING IN A WEST TROLL, NOT A TOUCH ON THE EAST TROLL  Some guys came in after me while I was getting my car and told my guy that they had 11 :?:
  18. Ray I hear that guy "FISHERMAN" :?: :?: is gonna hunt you down and kill you As the story goes I was out in my boat with a guy I work with and after clearing rods and actually bringing up my riggers  I secured the one side and brought in the wire rod (you know how that is leave it out until the last second ) turned to make sure the guy was driving the boat toward shore (had problems with his driving in circles all day :x ) forgot to bring the ball into the boat and it was hanging just into the water. He asked if he could speed up and I said sure. Helped him get the boat on plane and pointed out a few things to him but by then I think it was to late. Got back to Sandy (yes I found it ) and noticed the ball was not in the holder. Damn! So the new sub troll probe 1st time in use is gone with everything else :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x Ray thanks for pointing out all the problems I have had this year, seeing hows this stuff seldom happened to me in the 14 years I've had my boat. 1st damn ball I've lost ever! Already got a new ball today. I will go get the coated cable today at B-E. Gander was out of that, plus wire for reels, plus blacks releases, and there spoons are getting slim for the picking. Great store :!:
  19. Billy tell him thank you and I will be ordering some off those Siggs Riggs flies. I have been a Howie/Atomic guy (which I will continue to use ) but loved the way those Siggs held up. Fantastic :!: :!:
  20. I too will be out at Sandy tomorrow maybe even a day night double header . Give me a shout on 72 if your out there. Tank nice job and great report.
  21. Ray my friend I see you have gotten smarter or is it just your way of remembering a certain observer
  22. I've used both this year with virtually the same results.
  23. Bob my body may not have been working but the mind was going the whole time, just wish I could have kept an eye on the rods while sleeping on Sunday because we know what "buffy" Ray K. was keeping his eye on  Pat, I will try to do the Pro Am again if it fits my schedule that's for sure and I'm sure that we will see/talk down at Sandy more often. I may have found out part of my sickness problem too. Come to find out there seems to be some sort of a bug going around as 2 people at work were sick this weekend and my wife woke this morning with stomach problems too and missed work. Though all of HER problems could be do to the pictures of Ray I showed her, trying to explain how we ended up with 1 of the only 2 female observers out of 65 boats and me talking to her about this whole weekend made her sick   P.S ditto on what Ray said about the Siggs flys (my first time using them) and the R&R spoons which I have come to love too.
  24. Well we (Ray K, Muskybob and myself) teamed up for our first pro-am tourny and managed a very respectable 6th place finish out of 28 boats Myself having only met and fished with Ray 1 time and Ray and I had never met Muskybob so we really were a new amateur team. We started out the first day boating a king early and letting a 10# king go because we felt good about the day. Well it took us a double on a rigger and a wire screamer in the last hour to box out  and stop kicking ourselves for not keeping the small king early. Well we ended up with a nice first day total of 170pts and in 3rd place only 12pts out of first  . Needless to say we were confident and cocky about day 2  Day 2 starts out good for us, we go to our way point from day 1 and get a teen king in the first 30 minutes in the boat. 15 minutes later we get a good knock off (if there is such a thing?) but that's gone. Then it got UGLY UGLY UGLY for 1 member of this team :!: ME  :x  To make a long story short I was absolutely exhausted from a lot of travel the day before and about 4 or 5 hrs sleep total over the two days and the lake was rougher than I have ever fished in my 25 years on the lake. I took a Bonine before leaving which has helped me in the past but not today. I was so tired I couldn't stand and needed to sit down and rest. Well close your eyes and that's it. I woke to help get a wire rod out of the way and that's all it took LOOK AWAY>>>>>>>>> PUKE TIME FOR TOM So I was pretty much useless to help poor Ray (who worked his tail off back there both days but really extra hard on Sunday) and Bob the man on the wheel in those waves. Did manage to get up enough strength to land our biggest king 21# I am truly grateful to Ray and Bob for putting in the effort today to keep us in the hunt. Well back to our day, we couldn't mark a fish to save our lives(at least that's what they told me, I was asleep ) until about noon when we got 3 fish going into the the ocean like waves, including a very small but tourney legal king (after Ray had turned around back into the waves much to this guys dislike). That last little king put us in 6th place 1pt ahead of 7th place. Ended up with 4 kings, a 92pt day and a first time total of 262pts Here's a few photos (click on them to make larger) Our 1st days fish Our team with the observer the lovely JOY that was assigned to us  The final amateur board (sorry forgot the pro board) and your L.O.U.S.E.R.S team excepting our prizes from left to right (or east to west) Muskybob, myself and the mighty Coors light drinking midget that captained this clan Ray K who also placed a king in 18th place on the LOC board on Thursday I would encourage anybody out there that has never done this to sign up and do it at least one time. It was a great experience for the three of us and to meet fellow members from L.O.U. (Rick aka Bad Habit the observer that helped us out by volunteering, Capt. Rick aka Yankee Troller,L&M, Capt. Jerry from Rebel Charters who I think placed in the top 10 for the Pro division and won the biggest brown of the day and with that fish came in second I believe(?) for the summer LOC Brownie division, Fishstix (who was not in the tourney because of a sign up error ) Captain Pat aka Persistence, Mark aka Reel Jerks and any others I may have forgotten (Billy V, I looked for you on Sunday but you had left already ) and last but not least Chad aka Blue eye that helps keep this site going! I am sure there will be more from Ray (about my lovely Sunday  ) and Bob about their experience too. Congrats to everyone that was in the Pro- am . There are 3 things I would change or improve on, 1st, give out the rule book to everyone to follow along with while they read them, so we can ask any questions afterwards not during and we can follow along better while all the rude people talked during the reading  :x 2nd, put a orange or yellow vest on the person standing amongst the other 50 people on the pier that you need to show your team number to on the way in :!: 3rd,maybe do the LOC winners presentation AFTER the Pro - am awards  But it was run great from what I saw. P.S YT 1st and 3rd with Jax on your boat and what places WITHOUT him on board? hmmmmm  , and who won YT vs Billy V i know it was close :?:
