  1. Maybe a walleye? They will look silver/white at night on the bottom.
  2. Ray your wife said you can go fishing now  so quit looking at the pictures of the lake on your computer and get in the boat. That dear is staring at you still, shoot it will ya :!:
  3. Tried the same area as last 2 times out and it has changed :x . No color in the water and no scum line to be found. Ended up boating 3 fish (2 coho's and 1 small king) all in the 225-245 depth and all 3 heading north. Surface temp that was 57-59 on Wednesday was 60-62 today. Trolled out to 325ft and found cooler water 57 degrees but no fish to be found . Only 2 poles this time as opposed to the 4 we ran Wednesday. Marked VERY FEW FISH, the few I did mark were tight to the bottom except for the lone fish at 65ft :?: . Did manage to get 1 fish on something with no yellow or red on it and that was a R&R that was silver on half and purple on the other half with glow/crushed ice tape. 2 of the 3 fish came on the sliders and all again were in the top 50 ft. Lake was as flat as one of Jax's pancakes and the flies were everywhere :x P.S glad to see that the weather men were right on with the prediction of thunderstorms    THEY SUCK :!:
  4. RM, here's a link with step by step photos for connecting the wire to a swivel complements of our own Tom Bromund http://www.lotsa.org/Wire%20Line%20Knot.htm
  5. Bob it didn't take that long really, They were on a pole that had 30# test on it  from last summer. They weren't that big either :!: Listen hear heating and cooling guy I saw that LOSER EEEEEEEERRRRRR BILLS sweat shirt you had on looked like that had been thriough the ringer a few times, it was hot and exusting out there maybe if you put some freakin AC in my boat I wouldn't be so sweaty/messy looking. That would be sunshine reflection off of my handsome dome too  Hey listen here, this picture isn't exactly of Brad Pitt, more like Ned Beatty in the woods from Deliverance  http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t26/ ... C04823.jpg
  6. Billy it was/is awesome . I've been waiting for a day like that again haven't had one in awhile but alot of the the credit goes to guys like you, Rick and the many others (RAY K the yellow man) that help by putting up ALOT of info on this site for us "rec" guys to use in helping put us on fish. The lake has changed alot from the mid 80's and if not for me meeting Steve and Mark back a few years ago and them putting up this site I wouldn't have known about alot of the things I do know about out on the Big O now. Hey Billy I might be coming down to Fairhaven for a few days to do some R&R with the family and am looking for a cottage, any ideas? YT he did mention something to me about pulling in wire and copper ALOT but didn't mention to me that he was a waitress too (which might be a good career move for him ). One thing I hope he did learn was not to wear powder blue Crocs . He came to my house at like 11pm last night so that I could loan him some of the yellow R&R spoons I've been using. As far as the derby goes I fish alot by myself and didn't get into the derby I will however enter it now :!: My friend was out of work for a long while and is really broke and trying to get his finances in order so the trip was on me.
  7. Here's a couple of pictures from Wednesdays trip My friends big fella My double trouble Me with the big boy and his little buddy
  8. Hit the water at 7am and went right to the same spot as on Monday. Didn't get the second pole in the water and fish on. Trolled over that same area and it was fish after fish  . Found a some nice scum lines out there and worked them in 220-260 foot depth getting a few small kings, cohos and a couple of small steel. Sandwiched in there was a big fella at #25  that we doubled up over the 20 minute fight. Kept the poles going for the next few hours with only a couple of 30 to 45 minute lulls. Headed back over the HOT SPOT and not only did I get another fish but make it a double on 1 pole   . A king in the 10# range and a coho on the cheater that was nuts 2 on one pole. I've been fishing this lake for 23years and that was a first. Well ended up getting those in and straightening out our mess and we start back at the "HONEY HOLE" and sure enough it happens AGAIN :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x . 2 MORE COHO TWINS. Called it a day :!: Ended up 12 for 13 with another teenager (#15) everything on the riggers from 60ft and up to 20ft. Probably 50/50 riggers and sliders. Couldn't get the wire to go at all. Saw fish porusing and spalshing on the surface when the lake got really flat, alot of bugs out there but couldn't get anything on top to go. Direction didn't seem to matter but yellow, yellow and more yellow again was the hot color. Blueberry muffin got a few too. The finishing touch to a great day was NO TACKLE LOST and RUNNING OUT OF GAS AT THE DOCK  :? Hope to be out on Thursday Pm or Friday AM again. Pics are posted in the PICTURE SECTION.
  9. I think the comedian part comes first and as far as knowing what part of the rod goes in first, I think that's before he gets the beer starts flowing  Ray is a fun/knowedgeable guy to have on the boat with ya if you need a guy to get "2 more rods" in the water.
  10. Got out on the water way later than usual (9am) the Mrs and I need some sleep headed out to 140 and dropped lines. Nothin doing on the screen until the 200ft mark. Marked a nice bunch of fish at 220 and marked it. Got the wire to fly on a White Mnt Dew/Glow Crush with a Howie packer fly 210 feet out on 3 1/2. I had just put out a couple of new yellow  (Ray K) R&R spoons and bam. Got into 2 coho 1 small king (a crazy dancer that covered every part of the water behind the boat) and 1 nice steelie in about hr going back and forth over my mark. Then I was heading in and had the wire fly big time and it backlashed on me  :x. While trying to get the line to either go in or out (found out later that the wire had gotten caught in the edge of the spool and the housing :x ) I had the wire break at the spool and before I could get ahold of the wire it went zipping out of my hand . So if anybody gets a king with the above mentioned spin doc and fly combo along with 280ft of wire please return it to me . Had the rigger go again about 3 minutes later and another shaker this time on a Stinger mixed veggie. Ended up 5 for 6 (1 other release too). 70ft down seemed to be the ticket with 46 degree temp. Lake went from great chop to almost flat to a white cap wavy mess in what seemed like no time. New top came in handy on the way in as I would have been soaked . Half the rigger fish were on sliders.
  11. Nice pic's. Jax don't look so happy :? and rick I love the powder blue Croc  they do match your shirts well though
  12. Let me be the first to congratulate one of our very own, Team Yankee Troller on his/their Pro Am victory Rick, Jeremy(Jax) and the others on board way to go, nice job :!:
  13. No Ray, you stopped to have a beverage  have you tried the "beer scented" lures you made up
  14. Reelmagic I saw a Penn Yan for sale on RT31 heading east (on the right side) I believe it was somewhere between Macadon and Port Gibson. Not sure what size it was. I just noticed it because it looked like Yankees old boat. Might be worth the ride out that way if you have time. I do a friend that fishes out that way and will see if he can stop and take a look and get me the info for ya.
  15. Ray thanks but I think I found one from a friend that's gonna "GIVE" it to me and help me mount it. 55Lb thrust too  i've been spending alittle more than I should with gas at $3+++++++ a gallon need to save a little here and there.
  16. Put down the beer/beers and look up at the screen
  17. I took the boat out today for the first time since I got it back and had the Jax man with me. and Ray k on the phone too (so you really were out with me ) Well few words are needed to describe it: WATER WAS COLD, CLEAR AND SLOW . We threw everything at them from every angle, depth and speed. No takers, well we did have 1 rigger pop and had 1 pop on the board (YT keep Jax away from all types of boards this weekend   ) It was nice to get out on my boat on a beautiful day and fish though. We talked with 2 other guys that went and came right when we did and they also got zip :!: Did have 1 problem with this dumb you know what that decided that the ENTIRE BOATLESS LAKE wasn't enough room for him so he decided that he would come straight at us and within about 150ft of my boards at about 20mph in a 38 foot cruiser, cut across the front of us and throw a nice wave at us even though I was waving him away for awhile :x :x :x :x :x :x Ray thanks for the help too
  18. Here are a couple of the pics of the floor repair now that I have the boat back. As you can see I used some carpet/floor molding along the edge so that it won't tear away like before.
  19. Here are the pics of the finished boat top before  and after  Here are some of the things he did to it, He used hard wood that he stained and screwed down and put the snaps on the sides so that the top doesn't have to bend at a 90 degree angle and get a crease in it and the snaps won't pull out of the sheet metal. He put new stainless steel metal brackets for the tubeing instead of the plastic ones that were there. He also raised the top 6 inches so that I can stand dtraight up in it which I wasn't able to do before. Locking zippers and I had him make me a little canvas piece to close off the walk through area below the window (JD for $35 more it was worth the time and headache he saved me) IMG]http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a295/FISHINMAN/boat011.jpg[/img] A couple little tips he gave me for cleaning the vinal windows and storing them was to use soap and water rinse in well, dry it, then use dust polish  He said the worse thing you can use is windex because it has harsh chemicals. He said to put up snaps in your garage on the wall then snap the curtains up so they don't get creases. This may have taken longer because of his illness but it was well worth the wait. So air tight I almost sufficated in it
  20. Ray, Ray, Ray!! Excuse me Mr. heating and air conditioning man quit snorting the freon, but the battery is NOT DEAD and actually read 12 volts in the boat and on his meter  it's just dropping the amps to quickly when it gets cranked to "POP" the starter up and engage every time. You see Mr. engine tuner/put the gas in the wrong tank boy, the starter in an out board stands straight up and needs that exra push to pop it up and crank it over (which I might add it did last night before I went to bed)  Since I have used these guys before, I knew they would check it out for me so that I didn't get stuck at the dock or worse yet out in the lake. The next raccoon I hit I'm gonna name it RAY  I like to take the boat out by myself the first trip to make sure that everything is in order including things like the engine (REMEMBER OLCOTT TRIP WITH TOM WITH THE WATER IN THE GAS AND ENGINE HAVING TO BE TUNED FOR SPEED FROM UNDER THE COVER  ) Just kidding with ya call me if you want to get out some time I don't know your schedule. You do work don't you? I am going out of Sandy creek.
  21. Muskybob, good idea but I also think they should spend the $$ and advertise on the site to help support the site in return for the business, unless we throw them out there at times (like I did).
  22. Had a problem with my starter and took it to Pro Rebuilders and they not only checked it out by taking it all apart for me but they did it in an hour or so because I told them I was going out on Wednesday and at no charge . Ended up being that my battery wasn't putting out enough amps (they checked that too) even though it was charged it would drop way down when the starter was turning over and keeping it from engaging. These guys are great guys over there and really helped me out. Little tid bit they passed along to me was that they can make altenators that will push out alot of amps for you when you are trolling at low speeds with your bigger motors to help keep your battery in good shape especially with all your electronics, downriggers ect. going. Aparently they have done this for Sam on the Advocate. Sorry shopuld have put this in the This Old Boat catagory :? :x
