Love my 19.5 ft Starcraft Fishmaster with a 115 hp started out with a 16 ft. sea nymph 50 hp and that was definitely not enough boat put in north of union springs one time with it and a storm came up I was south of long point luckily I was able to limp my way up to long point and wait out the storm . The fishmaster has plenty of room is made for downrigging off the back and bass fishing off the front with trolling motor is good too . I think the extra length helps to bridge the waves when there is a good chop I can't believe how nice you can run along at a good speed and not be bothered by the waves , the 17 ft will work but the 19.5 is alot more comfortable and if you want to run up to the big lake in the fall and catch some salmon its doable as long as you don't go out to far .There around used a buddy of mine just got one that was being used on Oneida lake .

Is the unit worth 400.00 bucks does the new software upgrades fix the problems . Thinking about getting one while on sale but dont want to be sorry I bought it .

Is the SLR pretty much a night fishery for walleye ?

Twin oaks started a new rule quite a few years ago that we were not allowed to store are trailers anywhere on the property , wasn't right I liked to fish other lakes and if you broke down on the lake you couldn't put into the nearest ramp and pull it out with your trailer alot of guys started storing them at one of the wineries . One place I can think of is at the Myers ramp or park south end I believe you can leave your boat through out the season for a fee .You could try the twin oaks marina on the other side of the road from the campground but he wanted 75.00 just to store are trailers and he isn't always there not sure if it is gated when closed or not .

Nice Laker on Cayuga Hey guys this is what happens when you don't enter the derby !!! , had alot of fun this past Saturday and Sunday we travel up from Pa so getting to the ramp at dawn doesn't happen to often especially when your fishing buddy is your wife . We got to the ramp at 9;30 and thats when I realize that Barneys derby was going on .We ended up with quite a few lakers including this 31 incher and also a nice brown that hit very shallow in the water column with very little line out , he came flying out of the water right in front of me I kept him on for the first jump but he came up again and threw the jig it was a hoot !!!

Barney Baldwin memorial fishing derby on Cayuga Lake
chugbug replied to Fishbowl836's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
Would have been a fun derby but with not having the camper up there anymore and not getting up as much I didn't know about it until i pulled into the ramp at 10 o clock then figured it was to late to sign up, ended up with a nice 31'' laker that might have placed . Maybe a little more heads up on the date would be helpful , I think copperliner needs a litte more competition !!!! -

Did John mention anything about the algae bloom issue wonder what he has heard about it .Anybody else hear any updates on the HAB .

We hit skinny awhile back unfortunately when it was flooding this year , right out from the public ramp was a older gentleman that needed help he waved us in and had forgot to get gas he wasnt far from the ramp and when I said he could have used his trolling motor he said he never thought about that , so we got him in safe to shore , heck that might be any one of us down the road !!! Anyway the fishing was slow then the wind picked up a little to much and it was very discolored I managed a few sm bas and some panfish but was really wanting to find the bigger bass . I have only been on skinny three times so I have alot to learn but it is beautiful lake !!!

Has there been any actual warnings to not eat the fish in cayuga while this hab is in affect , how could it get in the meat of properly cleaned and cooked fish .

Nice to see Quebec is still producing walleye you dont hear much about it like you use to it doesn't seem like as many fisherman the states are going up anymore . I have fished whiskey river a couple times not to far from Cabonga . Then we switched to Hay Bay but that fishery went down hill from what I have heard , nice pics brings back memories .

yea seems odd they would take just one and not the pair ,, we run up now and stay at local motels right in Auburn and haven't had anything taken yet but its always on my mind so far so good its been about 20 years going up .

Thats interesting the wi fi to all devices etc. , I'm still using the lowrance x135 and x125 both great units plenty of power for seeing your jig , have one mounted on the trolling motor that I use most of the time to stay vertical and have the other one on the transom , always wanted the capability for the other person in the boat to be able to use the transom mounted unit to see there own jig and have the advantage of seeing whats going on down there instead of jigging bind but the two transducers cross each other with the depth were jigging at and interfere , once the two cones from each transducers touch each other you get all kinds of double images and interference , I always wondered if I could get a different transducer with a different frequency so they wouldnt interfere , anyone have any info on this problem
-
when you say you can mirror the screen do you mean your seeing the same screen on the depth finder so not actually seeing your jig but seeing who ever is vertical over the transducer

You would think as long as the fillet is as long as the legal length it would be ok but the rules don't read that way and the dec officer I talked to said positively lake trout and salmon couldn't be filleted out in the boat .I'm not sure what they expect us to do . Does anyone know if there is a cleaning station at myers pt .
-
Its weird but it is legal to dispose of the carcass on the lake as long as you are 100 ft from shore but then again its not legal to fillet them in the first place , if you dispose of a carcass from the boat make sure you puncture the air bag so it sinks some species this is legal . Here are the regs it makes it almost impossible to be legal if you dont have land near by or staying at a facility with a fish cleaning station with these laws in place you would think they would have cleaning stations at some of the boat ramps !!!!!! Does anyone know if they have anywhere to clean fish at the Myers boat ramp and campground. Fish cleaning law It is illegal on New York State waters to possess walleye, black bass, brook trout, lake trout or Atlantic salmon that have been cut, dismembered, filleted, skinned or otherwise altered so that the species and total length of such fish cannot be easily determined. However, these fish may be gilled or gutted. Other species of fish may be filleted provided that the skin is not removed from the fillets. This regulation allows more effective enforcement of harvest regulations on protected game fish. Fish carcass disposal law It is illegal to discard any fish carcass, or parts thereof, into the freshwaters of the state within 100 feet of shore or upon any public or private lands contiguous to and within 100 feet of such water, except: On private lands by owners of such lands. If properly disposing into suitable garbage or refuse collection systems or by burial. Where incidental cleaning of fish for consumption is permitted. However, resulting waste may not be disposed of within 100 feet of any public launching or docking site unless into a suitable refuse collection system. Live fish and fish which must be returned to the water because of size limits, open seasons and daily limits are not subject to the fish carcass disposal law.

Cleaning fish at the finger lakes We are traveling up to the lake and staying at a motel now , sold the camper we had up there after 15 years and cleaning fish now is a real problem . There isn't anywhere to legally clean your fish like up at the salmon river , your not allowed to fillet a laker or salmon out in the lake because they want to identify the species and the length your allowed to gut and gill but i want them in fillets so i can pop them into the fridge at the motel , What are you guys doing that run up up for a day or two .
