  3. another thing to look at is weather your mtor is a long or short shaft. if you can use a short shaft it would be torward your advange.
  4. i also have a 9.9 trolling motor off to one side of maine motor but directly on the transome. i have my downrigger 2ft forward with 6ft booms.i often look over the side at my cable and with some of the strong currents and wind just pray they don"t catch the prop. judging the distance your motor sits back so far that you will almost be asking for trouble eventually.
  5. i have 2 cannon mag 15s that also has a switch that is touchy when raising in small increments. i also was wondering if this is normal.
  6. bill, after talking to you Sunday after noon and your info ,we went out Monday and were 10 for 13 ,a mixed bag of nice steelhead ,cohoes and 2 mature kings. thanks for the info.

  11. I 'm thinking of getting a copper set up of 600'. my question is can i run this off boards and only let out 200' and not damage the wire or do i need a set up especially for that presentation and what kind of release do you use ?
  12. i went last week for acouple of days and the river was a good color accept for Sat. afternoon it got muddy but cleared by Sunday mourning. we did 23 steelies 2 browns 2 walleyes ,all descent size. we could not do any thing at the bar. i had d a difficult time maintainy drift because of high winds.
  13. although i dont target lake trout any more, the method that work well for me, was run two riggers at a speed of 1.5 to1.9,cowbell and peanuts.put 1 rigger 5 ft to 10 ft off the bttom and have another guy work the other rigger close to the bottom occasionally touching to maybe stir the bottom up.i kepy mt leeds very short no more than10 ft from the ball.the lake bottom seems to run steady in depth east to west so troll in a direction that runs steady and not in one where the depth goes deep to shallow or visversa. oh i left first thing out try to mark them usually in water 100 to 150 ft.
  14. i wonder if some one could let me know the condition of the river such as clairity
  15. i'll be fishing the river on the 3/19,3/20,3/21 not sure about sunday , but if any of you are at Lewiston launch maybe we can introduce our selves. i will be fishing out of a 19' sea nymph with 2 other guys.hope to meet some of you.
  16. where do all these so called biologest get there information that a so called eel barrier would stop ells and not fish. there is a small creek in jersey that has a3 to 4 foot dam on it and every year at a certain time for about a week thousands of ells keep jumping into the falls till they make it over just like you see salmon do on tv. i never went to college and became book smart but i do appreciate the common sense that i managed to learn.
  17. i run 13lb torpedo weights and think they work fine.i also run a regular cannon ball that works. i look at this way when a cable snaps which one wil bring the most tears.,the sharks or torpedo weights.
  18. uglyokuma left out the most important part you have to tap the hole out for the proper size screw.
  19. i have run a1989 sea nymph on the ocean and l. ontario for all those years.it took alot of pounding and i had rivets loosen and leak.what i did was fill the boat with water, mark the leaks.ithen carefully drilled out old rivets and then used the proper tap drill for a small screw to fill hole. i then covered screw with some fiber glass filler.it works when waranty and nothing else will.
  20. i find there is no question that solid rings are better from experince.i only use swevels with them. my question is that spoons with split rings, i would like to replace. if there is a way can some one explain .
