  1. Also that fish has the markings of a Lake St Claire fish, whered he get it and how long was it? Its also possible the guys were doing the old trick of holding it far away from their body to make it look bigger I guess.
  2. There have been many 50 lb class fish caught out of the St Lawrence, Georgian Bay, Fench River, etc. The book "Musky Compendian" by Larry Ramsell shows the biggest muskies ever recorded and none of them including all world record candidates looked anything like that photo. Somethings just not quite right with this photo. I dont doubt a certified record, just the photo.
  3. Is the river section you fished deep enough for a small 14 foot boat/ 9.9 h.p or suitable for kayaks/canoes only? Ive been itching to do that. Thanks BP
  4. That photo is doctored for sure. Photoshop
  5. Hope your using a quick strike rig, lots of post release mortality with suckers.
  6. so you guys are saying between 18" and 4 feet. Thats a pretty wide range. I guess it depends on the mood of the fish. I was looking for a general rule of thumb for Lake O. Im guessing 2 feet?
  7. What would be a good leader length from Dipsey to Flasher and what lb. test ? Also what is an ideal speed range for Salmon using flasher/Flys ? Slower than spoons? Thanks much BP
  8. Solo with bluebird skies and calm seas you did quite well under those conditions. Not your typical Musky conditions. Nice goin! I was there last week with my son and he got a 36" ski at 2:30PM, goes to show that you can expect the unexpected in Musky fishing. BP
  9. I was reading the directions on the Pro Troll flasher with the e chip and they recommend a leader length of 3 or 4 feet to the lure but from what Ive seen most of the commercial flys sold have a 18-24" leader. Do these shorter leaders work behind flashers or do they need to be 3-4 feet as mentioned? Also has anyone had any luck using a spoon behind a flasher? Thanks BP
  10. I was wondering if it's best to tie a wire line directly to a dipsey or to use a swivel instead so you can switch easy? What colors dipseys seem to work best on Lake O? I've been using clear and black with limited success but now Im wondering if I should use something bright and gaudy instead of trying to camoflage them?
  11. Has anyone heard of any muskies coming out of Lamoka recently? I know years ago they got a few nice ones but I have not heard of any recently. If they are still stocking waneta, I dont know why a few wouldn't wander through the channel to Lamoka??? Waneta is cool but being as small as it is, those fish get pounded and must see lures over and over. Having another musky option would be good in these parts. I still dont know why the DEC doesnt stock more muskies in other lakes, it would take the pressure off Waneta . And no Im not talking about tigers which do poorly in most stocked lakes.
  12. Heres an unscientific poll about the Smallmouth fishing in Lake O but probably a poll the DEC should pay attention to (if they care)
  13. Hey Nitro and others Congrats on your fish. way to go. BP
  14. Can you pay to launch for 1 time or do you have to buy a season pass to launch there? What is the name of the marina or launch?
  15. Can anyone launch there or do you have to be a resident?
  16. where do you launch out that way? I need to fish closer to home. Is I bay the closest launch to Hedges too?

    Seneca River

If there are any muskies there they would be tigers as Im certain there are no natural skis there unless a few wandered in from the canal/erie.
  18. Went to Sodus with my son home visiting from AZ. on 7/15. We were planning on trying to get some smallys out in the lake. Got there and even though there was no wind on shore, there were 2 footer from the NE on the lake. Tried out there for a while with no luck and zero marks on the LCR either. We were envisioning a 50 fish day like several years back before the big die off. It didnt happen, it was like a dead sea from 15-30 feet. We decided to go in the bay to try for Largemouths till it calmed down a bit. They were very cooperative as we got 18 nice ones to 19". Went back out in the lake for the last 2 hours of daylight and got a grand total of 1 smally (18"). So now Im wondering has this fishery collapsed completely or was it us? Mind you about 5 years ago, there were many days wed go there and get 100 fish days using the same methods. The guy in the bait store said its never been the same since the great die off about 4-5 yrs. ago. Anyone else fish there lately?
  19. Thank you Dan. You have no idea how important catch and release is for muskies. Thanks again.
  20. Anybody who weighed in a musky was problably a lucky guy who didnt really know better. Any real musky guys wouldnt even think of killing one for any reason including a mount. (Can get a graphite reproduction)
  21. Does anyone know if anyone entered a musky in the tournament? I dont think any real musky guys would do it.
  22. So did they remove it for this year or not? Lets be clear here so we know what to do. Thanks BP
  23. Can anyone tell me if the river/Bar is fishable yet with the Moss or is it still a major problem for Bass fishing ? Thanks BP
  24. Bucks, There are "regular" fish at the oak like Bass, Perch, walleye but nothing close to Erie. You can drift with live bait or jigs to locate them or go up the river for Largemouth/Pike. Trolling works well also. That area is famous for trout/salmon though. Good luck. BP
  25. 10s are trophys ANYWHERE including Mexico. Nice going pal! Isn't Lake Dixon the lake where"dottie" the would be world record came out of a few years ago but was foul hooked??
