  1. For the guys that are using the HOOK series you can find the latest software update here: http://www.lowrance.com/en-US/Software-Updates/hook-software-20/ It's a must!
  2. I really like using my Lowrance to jig lakers in 125-140ft of water. The 360 didn't really took a lot of market mainly because the prostaff were not impress with it same for the Lowrance Spotlight. With the Patnoptix we are touching another level of $$. It's important to compare $ vs $
  3. The touchscreen is a major plus for me and the Smart Steer to control my Xi5 is also a big big plus. I also use the Navionics Platinum something that the Helix processor can't handle.
  4. I'm a Lowrance user but I fish with friends that are running Ray and HB unit; I should say was running HB because now he is running Lowrance Elite Ti. One thing that I would never go back is the button only control; it's like going back to a flip flap phone. It's much faster and easier to use with the touch screen. I didn't ask you what kind of fishing you are doing but for my part I really like my Motor Guide Xi5 link to my Lowrance; I can program my trolling line and use the kicker to push and the Xi5 to maintain my course. The antenna on the Lowrance is much faster 10 Hz compare to 5. On the Helix7 Si you got 83/200 and 455 and for the Elite: 83/200 455/800 and CHIRP and max panel is 2 and 2 also for the Dragonfly. On the dragonfly you have 50/200 and 320/380 for the downscan. As for making you're map at this moment you can use Insight Genesis and in the very near future you will also be able to create you're own map visible on you're Elite Ti screen using Navionics. For the Dragonfly you are stuck with the Garmin map.
  5. The Elite Ti-7 comes with the wifi so you can download map, update, you can also view the screen and control the unit; also view you're screen on a smartphone not to forgot the touchscreen. It offer 2D, CHIRP, downscan, sidescan with the Totalscan transducer, NMEA 2000 capability. Processor is the same use on the Gen-3 that allowed to use the Navionics Platinum Dragonfly offer: downscan, CHIRP,wireless no touchscreen Garmin Echomap: no touchscreen, side imaging on the sv unit, downscan on sv and dv unit, CHIRP, no wireless and no NMEA, no choice on the mapping side
  6. The only bad comment on this unit was the slowleness of the gps but with the latest update from Lowrance the problem has been resolve. I'm surprise that it is not being sold at that price.
  7. Comes with the Insight so it's a GPS and it comes with the: 455/800/83/200 transducer. That unit is a CHIRP also. Good deal!
  8. For somebody that is looking for a large screen with downscan, 2D and CHIRP that is an excelent opportunity If you choose the model: 000-12667-001 you are also getting a Navionics+ for around $50. That is a good deal. http://www.lowrance.com/en-US/Products/Fishfinder-Chartplotter/hook-9-en-us.aspx
  9. One of the major complaint about those units was the slowliness of the gps. Lowrance has just pull out an update to fix this. Bulletin: https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/navicodigitalassets/AMER/Lowrance/TB-86819_Lowrance_Elite_HOOK_TROPHY_SW_Upgrade.pdf?_cldee=YW5kcmVfbW9yaW5Ac3ltcGF0aWNvLmNh&recipientid=contact-19802397cfbce4119ebd6c3be5a81b7c-4c9d68ef1e1a41498d5e453e8d0ece34 Elite: http://www.lowrance.com/en-US/Software-Updates/Elite-60/ Hook: http://www.lowrance.com/en-US/Software-Updates/hook-software-20/
  10. When you say preloaded they are not. The maps are coming on a SD card with a mini (MSD) card so it can be use in differrent model of chartplotter. The newer chartplotter comes with a Navionics+. To get an idea on what you are getting the best way is to look at the webapp page on Navionics.com Click on the link: https://webapp.navionics.com/?lang=en#boating@9&key=odfzFr%7B~aM
  11. You can mount both ducers a few in's apart but the Structure scan needs to be lower; when you do a install like this you can use the overlay downscan feature. You can also put the Structure scan ducer on the opposite side but still need to be lower. You will have to trim-up you're main engine to free-up the view on the side-scan
  12. The Fish Hawk work on 70khz I run a Airmar. TM150 ducer with my Gen3 and don't get any interference when I chirp. The TM150 frrun run between 95 and 150
  13. But that's the reality! On my previous boat running a Yamaha T8 I had to have 2/27 size batteries to keep everything functionning: 3 Lowrance units, vhf, 2 downriggers. For those that are running Verado with the electric power steering it is strongly recommended to run a pro-kicker 15hp. Maybe it's possible to use the 15hp rectifier on a 9.9?
  14. Tthe Merc 15hp pull-llout 15amp It is recommended for those that troll and have the Verado electric power steering Most if not all the kickers in the 8 and 9.9 developp 6 amps at full trottle and about 1amp when trolling
  15. Brand new never use. Change of plan. Model: 000-11190-001 Insight map no ducer. In the box complete. Full description here: http://www.simrad-yachting.com/en-US/Products/NSS-Touchscreen-Navigation/NSS9-evo2-en-us.aspx Price: $1350+sh.
  16. Navionics+ is the way to go. You can view what you are getting here: https://webapp.navionics.com/?lang=en#@6&key=ufjgGbtz%7BM
  17. I'm running a Lowrance Gen3 with a Airmar TM-150 (transom mount) and I'm more then satisfied. I use medium CHIRP all the time.
