  1. Ahhhh……..how did you get my photo with Santa??
  2. As of Dec 13th, 46 degree water offshore of Sodus. NE winds been pushing the cooling surface water to the West.
  3. I had a movement this morning. Right after my coffee. Does anyone work anymore?? You guys are killing me.
  4. I will send the contact info to my FBI friend
  5. I use Anchor Marine on Grand Island. I have tried about all of them in the Buffalo area and have found them the best to deal with.
  6. No breech plug with nitro fire. Yes, I used Hoppes #9 so I guess all good. What mitigates the plastic build up? I couldn’t find a .50 wire brush anywhere
  7. Firesticks use Hogdon’s powder. Clean burning
  8. I am new to muzzleloading so looking to learn. I am wondering what people use to clean their Muzzleloader barrels? I have heard Dawn soap and hot water but Traditions states that soap and water is not enough. So which solvent (I use nitro firesticks) do I use? Which cleaning brush? What removes sabot plastic residue?
  9. Interesting perspective from Lake Michigan.
  10. New Traditions NitroFire. First time muzzleloading.
  11. Perhaps the fish are there after all. I heard it through the grapevine that the fish cleaners servicing the Oswego River fishermen have seen a huge push of kings and there have been reports of some fairly fresh kings being caught in the Salmon River. Perhaps they are evolving to a warmer environment and running later after everyone’s boats are put away? I have been asking about Canadian runs and they start in August but are over in October. They have cooler stream temps on the North shore compared to the Oswego River. Can anyone verify these “reports” or is it old news?
  12. Really interesting is that the coast watch link I sent just updated within the thread lol. Temps showing are current and I did not edit anything. ??
  13. Brian, this makes sense as everything -water is upside down in the winter
  14. For the YOY alewives the offshore water temp is the most important IMO. I have been out there in January during a warm winter and we found the coast watch temp transects maps accurately depicted the warmest water was over the deepest parts of the lake. The Rochester intake is inshore.
  15. Nice! Getting warm again Saturday. I am always hopeful for early king season.
  16. I will send him pictures of my wife in her bathing suit. That will fix him good !
  17. Yes, I am sure there has been some turnover after the major wind events lately. Six feet of snow runoff in Buffalo has had to have an effect on temps. All the creeks around here are raging
  18. Agreed, Atlantics are a non-factor in the ecosystem. Much to do about nothing.
  19. To date, Lake Ontario is the warmest it has ever been for this time of year. Chart is from last week.
  20. You can dispute the sale thru PayPal.
  21. I would second grouse in the north country. I went to school at St Lawrence in Canton and found good grouse and woodcock numbers up there. Have not been back since ‘91 so I don’t have current intel. I found farmers up there were agreeable to allowing bird and rabbit hunting. It could be the cooler temps up north have kept the West Nike virus at bay.
