  1. I will be out at Olcott in the morning around 7:30.
  2. Nice fish!!! ESLO ticket? Will be out saturday at Olcott, will you be heading out?
  3. Ok, I need one more crew, and an observer. You can always count on LOU members in a pinch!
  4. Tim Bromund can back up my statement. I have been running verticle attractor rigs for 4 years ( my own version ). They are on my cables 95% of the time.
  5. I think you can get those tangled leaders when you have shakers hitting the bait and getting off. I thought about using a snubber to prevent it from happening. Anyone have a similar problem when using a snubber?
  6. My usual crew is crapping out of fishing the Oswego, and Sodus events  . I have takin' the time off of work, the kids will be away at the grandparents, my wife will be studying for exams......I can't let a free pass get away.....they don't happen often with a family man. I am looking for two fellow anglers who have experience trolling, who like playing cards and drinking beer. Please PM me if interested.
  7. Just would like to know who will be out there. Shall we say channel #72 ?
  8. Excuse my ignorance for not looking at the current regulations, but is there a trophy season catch and release on Ontario now also?
  9. All this talk about guns, and flares, and ball bearings/sling shots etc. is funny to say in jest, but it is not a viable option. We start that ****, and then the sailboats start arming themselves. Cold war all over again. Flags, education and notices seem like the only legal option. I actually have no hope for sailboats. I started this thread so we can maybe come to a consensus about unwritten rules of the water to keep things from getting ugly among fellow fisherman.......ie 7mm mags!
  10. West Marine has on their on-line store 10X16" blue pennant flags for $12.00.
  11. I am stopping down at West Marine today and see what is available. I am flying mine.....I maybe the only idiot on the lake with a blue flag, but at least anyone who has read the posts on LOU, Spoonpullers, and GLA will know what it is.
  12. Maybe, a multispecies format. Biggest fish King, steelhead, brown, laker, coho gets points with a friendly wager?
  13. There is nothing to adapt to .....bass season does not open until June.
  14. Tim would have to get up pretty early to drag his boat out of the water and put in at the Fort. Of course he could run his gas bill up and make the run from Olcott.......he just won't have enough gas to troll very long.
  15. Bass fishing opening week is not what it used to be since the Gobys. I have a theroy on why. One, less bass because Gobys eat the bass fry....but the ones that grow up and can eat the goby are bigger. Two, they can't leave their beds very far the chase a bait....because of the Gobys. Adam, if you go slowly around the fort you will see white zebra muscle shell beds. Often there will be a big black shape sitting on those beds (bass). When are you heading out for salmon next? I am getting that itch to go back to my stomping grounds.....maybe a little tag team action? Or maybe a friendly Baylinner vs Penn Yan duel.
  16. A flag will not stop all these things from happening.....no way, my only hope is to stop a few of the occurances. If enough people jump on board, who knows how common place the flag system could become. What is the alternative? Do nothing and leave things as they are? Come on put a freaking flag up and see if it helps. Help spread the word to your fellow boaters at the launch, at your meetings, at the lecture circuit (pros are you listening). Word of a good thing spreads quickly among fisherman.....just ask Tom Allen.
  17. Are you saying there are only five of us with no life?
  18. I was out Sunday til 1:00. It was SLOW. Reports of skunks abound. We caught three fish and with a few knock offs and releases, but we went out to the blue zone 350-425'. Sat. I did some reconnaissance with the fishfinder east of olcott off the power station and microwave....there was little charted.
  19. Tim Bromund, you were worried about people not hearing about the proposal? On day one of this post on three sites at 7:00 pm there have been 144 views on GLA, 804 on this site, and 101 on Spoonpullers. These are the diehards, ie the people who drive to the bar from Michigan in the spring...the people who know what they are doing....the people who will be running junk lines. Copper is popular now, it is here to stay so lets find away to make is easier to live with.
  20. Never in my wildest dreams would I believe that just because someone is flying a blue flag, that all problems would go away.....esp. from sailboats, but it would not hurt to try. If it stops one boat from setting up behind my copper rigs, then it is worth the cost of the flag compared to the cost of copper. There will be people who don't give a rat's ass about the flag...fine, what ever. I believe the majority would take notice, because nobody wants their spread messed with. With that being said, I am flying a blue flag off my antenna, and if I am the only one.......so be it. Gonna let my junk freak flag fly!
  21. No problem with my 25# trilene green. Fleas not a problem, break-offs not a problem, and in the green water.....invisible. Don't need extra snaps, fluorocarbon leaders etc. , just dunk it and go.
  22. Madam Bluegill, what were you wearing at the time?
  23. Tim, Your first thought is why the thread got started, to try to make it common knowledge. Yes, If you are running 600' copper in the trench in late August.....you deserve to catch someone elses downrigger ball. These fishing sites reach a large audience. Does not hurt to try. Maybe, even get acknowledgement in naviagation regulations. I know fishing the Niagara near the border, I have been boarded by the Coast Gaurd three times in two years. Once when I was fully deployed and trolling! I don't think the general public knows what we are pulling or that we can't stop and change direction on a dime esp. sailboats. If we can agree on a flag system I will personally leave notification at all the local sailing clubs on the west end regarding the matter. I am sure sailboats would not want their precious keels to get damaged by wire line.......they just don't know how we are fishing these junk rods.
