  1. If you want to tag a buck right now, spend all day over a scrape. Bucks are on their feet checking at all times of the day.
  2. Just north of Angelica and yes they are open in May. They have a website with all details.
  3. Just got down to Evergreen Trails campground to hunt state land for the next two days. Finding sleeping accommodations in Allegany County can be challenging. These cabins are open for most of gun season. Location is a few clicks south of short tract. Electric heat. No running water. Quarter operated showers. Wood available for fire pit. Charcoal grill. $75 per night.
  4. Rob with all those bucks around and that big one being broke, give the rattling antlers a try!
  5. Mr itchy made me do it!
  6. When was the last time we had such a stretch of wind below 10 mph in October? Could be out trolling!
  7. Sounds like a slice of heaven
  8. I drew back 4 times on a doe this morning. Couldn’t make it happen. Too many random branches in the wrong spot.
  9. Nothing has started yet. The lack of roadkills is evidence.
  10. Now a four point walked by.
  11. Ya, that’s him!
  12. Ok. Signs of life. Just had a spike walk by. Maybe they will move tonight
  13. Second try today for me also. Neighbors are buzzing around on their ATV’s already .... I am going to try and keep my head down and grind but my decision to hunt Akron today is backfiring.
  14. Spitting rain now. Feels like an all day lake effect mist.
  15. Wind just shifted to NW from mostly West and temps dropping. Had some duck hunters taking pot shots at a beaver at 8:30 this morning! The beaver came by me and looked to be struggling. The shot string was nothing like a duck hunting volley so I put two and two together
  16. I start my season tomorrow. Going to try a remote Allegany County state land whitetail spot with a side possibility of Bear. I never look forward to carrying a climber in on my back for one mile but the weather ahead has me motivated. Two weeks off of work yippee!!
  17. Awesome!!
  18. Great idea. Dave, for those of us that don’t live along the canal, what are the things in play? I assume the canals are drained to prepare for high spring runoff and ice damage during the winter? I have been in Ottawa in the winter and the frozen canals are alive with life. I saw guys in three piece suits and brief cases commuting to work with ice skates. Kids playing hockey everywhere. Lots of fun.
  19. Wow! Time to change your handle from Duckman to “Buckman”.
  20. Machzrcr, nice pickle. Back trace the big one by finding where his staging area is during shooting light via trail camera. Hang a stand with good entry and exits with correct wind. Or you could wait until the rut shuffles the deck and hunt doe groups nearby.
  21. The guys fishing on the bottom along the sidewalls of olcott piers with worms targeting perch in the spring used to catch them. I stopped seeing them in the mid-90’s when zebra mussels started dominating. I think the Oak fishing fleet learned to mimic the spot tail shiner when targeting browns by putting the eye sticker on the rear of the spoon.
  22. The mouth position downward makes me think it is not a Cisco https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/areas/fisheries/baudette/whitefish.html
  23. Looks like Mr no-brow is staring right into your soul
  24. I like to put ketchup on my fries.
