Over the course of a year, I noticed my boat was sitting lower and lower on the trailer on one side. The loading after fishing a couple of weekends ago, I noticed the bad bunk appeared to have a split with the boat listed and resting on the wheel well. This is a three year old Venture trailer. Frustrating. So after a discussion with the Venture service dept, I had some ideas on how to create new bunks. After making many calls to lumber shops and mills, I found hardwood to make solid bunks non-existent. Plan B was to use what materials were available which meant glue and screw two 12’ sections of pressure treated wood. The technician at Venture did advise that fully covering bunks is cosmetic and promotes rot. So after measuring the angled bevel on the top of bunk, and measuring the height against the brackets, the bunks were fabricated. This was an all day fabrication and a 1/2 hour install. The plan is to let the wood age for a year then stain black. Cleaning duckweed off the bunks is a lot easier without all the carpeting on bunks. I used industrial grade remnant carpet with carpet adhesive + galvanized staples to affix. I was lucky more didn’t happen to the boat while on the trailer with old bunks. The wood rot was crazy. Complete crumbling of wood- almost dust.

Glad they turned on for you. Spent many a hour the last two days trying to get those inside fish to bite.

For my high slide divers I have been using 40 lb Malin 7 strand and I like it. Typically I like Malin 30 lb also but the latest batch was bad. I noticed one of the strands on the 30 lb was not integrated into the other 6 strands and I have been having unraveling issues. I have had good luck with torpedo brand 30 lb 7 strand. I like the torpedo brand 19 strand handling but I have had unraveling issues with it. Right now I am stuck on torpedo 30 and Malin 40.

20 lb trilene green XL for spoon leaders, checking for nicks after each fish, and a properly set drag should be all you need. 30 lb for flasher leaders

Two small kings this evening

I waved the white flag on those Wilson fish. They bested me.

I am out now. Just set up

Started swapping everything out to chase browns. Small spoons, small snaps......nice king hits, great fight then small snap decides to open .......,ugh.

I have been working inside since 8:30 and have one king to show for effort. I can’t tell you how many marks and bait pods I have run over. The fish are acting like stagers and are even collimating vertical. I even broke out slide divers with Lyman plugs. Frustrating.

Sometimes you have to leave the rods out and just go hunting with your graph.

I just graphed them during my reconnaissance but the had their face in the bait.

You don’t have to go deeper than 100’. I found good bait and fish in close.
