  1. He Bri, the alewife patterns work pretty good on eyes. Save a few for me in the regular size. Not the mags. Thanks
  2. Unfortunately, I have to agree. There are still plenty of panfish left, but a couple of years of trial and error searching and refining techniques are necessary to become successful. These days, I have both my own slot limit and bag limit. No need to "fill the freezer". A lot of other guys are too. Seneca lake is a good example of what can go wrong and I am worried that Canandaigua might be next. And how many of us here over 60 remember the perch and giant gill fishing in Conesus? As far as reports go, I am looking for pre fall perch right now and have to report that they are not schooling yet but I am picking up more and more in deep water staging areas off of flats in a few of the finger lakes. Nothing to be excited about, give it another three weeks and they should move in. Temps need to drop in to the 60's.

    Dunkirk Sunday

John my buddy and I would. I will be in L.A. and Seattle until Sept. 23 though. If the fishing is still on then shoot me a p.m. Perch might be on then as an added bonus. Jim
  4. Yes, a lot of three pounders. Average around 15-16". Only three or four small ones that I did not count in my total. Even found a largemouth in the stomach of a perch!

    Dunkirk Sunday

LEU is getting to be the walleye/perch forum. Good guys and sharing of info on both LOU and LEU.
  6. Off 14A through town Right turn at Water St. just past the Byrne Dairy. $10 to launch.
  7. Keuka 8/19 I spent the day looking for perch but could not get away from the bass. Never realized how many there are in this lake but all I can say is if you drop shot small crayfish in 20-30' just about anywhere on the Penn Yann branch, you will not be disappointed. I wanted to see how many I could actually catch and release and counted 20 that came to the boat. Ran out of crabs early and switched over to plastic with almost the same results. What a great bass lake.
  8. I made the two hour drive again yesterday to Erie. 17 eyes, one at 30". I am not an experienced walleye fisherman. We have been at Dunkirk, but I know guys out of the Cat that are doing just as well. Just check the wind and wave forecast out carefully and go.

    Dunkirk Sunday

35 eyes in the last two trips out of Dunkirk. They are still there. 80-110'. A lot of shorts but limit catches of keepers. Riggers, dipseys, spoons, plugs or worm harnesses. Doesn't matter.
  10. I take the long two hour drive to Dunkirk from Rochester for a reason. As Semperfi says, the place is on fire. Straight out, look for the boats and troll. Sticks spoons, worm harnesses. Right now it doesn't matter.
  11. Shuush- don't tell anyone - I catch the biggest hogs when I wear my 2X readers. Too bad they suffer ground shrinkage when I take them off
  12. I actually remember that meeting years ago. Small world. I agree on the extra meet on the plastic. It made a difference on Honeoye earlier this year. As far as perch size goes. I'll agree to disagree
  13. Sounds like a lot of fun. I too spend all my time panfishing after a lengthy (too lengthy) charter career. I have not tried the worms yet but I have all the luck I need on plastics. Skinny frustrates me though. I have only fished the north end and the fish tend to be small and look rather thin. Catch plenty of them, just not the right size. A 12" perch there has a lot less meat on it than a 12" perch anywhere else I have fished. I guess I will try the worm fishing on the south end. Thanks.
  14. I have also "experimented" with this lake three times now the past two seasons. Very pretty lake.
  15. Nice fish. I have been having a little fun out that way myself. Long trip, but worth it.
  16. How about the bass tournament guy that decided to release his catch after the weigh in in the middle of my trailer as I was loading up. Should have run him over along with his bag. Union springs last week.
  17. That is a classic picture.
  18. I think I just found the answer to my question on the DEC link. Lakewide. Crap.
  19. Is this lakeside. I intended to keep a couple salmon/rainbows tomorrow or should I just forget it. We have been eating the perch with no ill effects - so far.
  20. Yes I have!! Unfortunately, the guy I fish with makes a constant right turn. Just adds to the fun.
  21. Nice report and a great catch. The best part about it was the fact you did so well on the smaller boat and not a bigger boat with a lot of rods. Basically how I fish. Nice going.
  22. I fished there last year for the first time. Our first two trips we did the exact same program as you, south too Sheldrake and back. After that, we fished the east side around the college area and did fairly well. Chasing walleyes in Erie this time of year is the name of the game for us. Long ride but well worth it.
  23. Nice job Les and Mark. I was going to hit that lake soon but my boat would haver had a tough time of it. I even got up early today and checked the wind. Went to Honeoye instead. Looks like a beautiful day coming up for Wednesday. I bet Deans cove will be busy.
  24. You are probably right but I hope your wrong. The only way to confirm it is for the samples to be tested in the lab. Thanks for supplying them.
  25. Just wondering how you confirmed that it was VHS. Could it be another fish disease? The DEC has only mentioned VHS in gobies in Cayuga but does not mention Canandaigua. I would hate to think that another fish kill will happen in Canandaigua.
