  1. updated listing, as i just had to pay reg and insurance and realized: -trailer is 2006 model -hull is 2006 model -engine is 2005 model
  2. OK, so I was going to hang onto this boat for the season and decide what to do in the fall but the god of fate has intervened. It is in my driveway prep'ed and ready to go...ever freshly detailed/buffed/waxed...everything done minus cleaning up the canvas. That said I'm now medically out of play until at least middle of august (my motorcycle is not in such good shape anymore)...so it is available. If i can enlist the wifes help and walk her through it i'll get some pics up in next day....broken shoulder and back preclude how much i can accomplish...heh..took me 20 minutes to get this far. Please call for info if interested..email is hard. 716-570-0491
  3. http://www.boattrader.com/listing/1987- ... 1-98460868 http://www.boattrader.com/listing/1988- ... r-98636395 Neither is exact...but you can add a hard top.
  4. Ever see whale wars? Running 100' off his stern for a couple of hours will help his catch rate. I'd do it. But then again, I frankly don't give a ****.
  5. I run 15 Big Game in the spring and 30 once flea mania starts. I used to run Trilene 17 year round until the fleas ate it.
  6. Not knowing how you define middle of the road...and assuming you value the sonar over the GPS (Garmin would be the choice if GPS > Sonar...but who goes that way??) I suggest a Humminbird 788ci or 858c.
  7. Roemers have never done me wrong.
  8. I didn't get a chance to take a pic of my boat...but here are a couple of links you'll get the gist from: http://www.humminbird.com.au/products/a ... ector.html http://www.mbcboats.com/fusionbb/showto ... tid/45370/ and this guy who did exactly as I did with angle aluminum though he used PVC http://www.walleyecentral.com/forums/sh ... p?t=152841 Tilting it down a few degrees will expose maybe 1/4 more to impacts...not a difference worth discussing...and they are designed to pop up if they get wacked anyway.
  9. Oh, and as for the motor in the way, sounds like you just need to tilt the transducer a few degrees forward to get in front of the lower unit.
  10. The design of the humminbird transducer is flawed and does throw a rooster tail. Not anything you did there. The solution that works best is to take a piece of 3"x3" angle aluminum, drill it out to match transducer mount, then affix it between transducer mount and boat, like a spray shield if it bothers you.
  11. I have never owned a probe. I catch my share. Might I buy one some day? Maybe...but if you know what your are doing you only lose about 30 minutes figuring out what you need to get around the probe. I know some people with a probe that catch less...they fall in love with it and forget that fish are unpredictable and don't read electronics
  12. Sounds like you do need two outboards not one. Force should be used as an anchor
  13. Also, you didn't mention what the main motor was on the boat...but i'd keep them the same if possible. Makes service and maintenance easier...one stop shopping so to speak.
  14. You can always throttle down, so I'm thinking the trolling bag concept is not an issue. That said, a 17 aluminum would never need a 15. It won't get you on plane, so it will max out same speed as any other option that will get you to that point. While a 6 would do it on a flat day, I'd like a little more power to keep me straight in the wind and if there is chop. I think something like a Yammy F8 or Merc 8 would be the right choice for this boat.
  15. Looking for a few more to add to my stable. If you gottem, drop me a line.
  16. There is a 16' in the price range for sale here in the consumer to consumer section.
  17. I don't reload and always have a ton of brass I leave behind...but figures I shoot all the stuff you don't, .22 long, 7.62x39, .380, .38 Special, .357 mag and 9mm.
  18. In May I doubt that you'll need to be deeper than 75', which should be an easy hit with 100' of cable unless you are using 3# weights
  19. You running a trolling plate? Sounds like you might be getting turbulence under some conditions effecting your transducer, since it doesn't happen always.
  20. I run a plate...one which is hinged mid plate to avoid any bending issues should I be a knucklehead and forget to pop it up before taking off. I was on a guys boat once who ran bags...hooked a 30# + King that did what they all do...headed under the boat. You know how that ended when he got the line caught up in the stupid bag lines right? I don't need more junk in the water...don't need to deal with storing and handling bags. I got one added benefit of getting a unit that also helps planing because of the hydrofoil built in. http://www.cabelas.com/product/EasyTrol ... l+Products
  21. on either Humminbird or Furuno. Personally the best option IMHO if you have the room is to run a Furuno FCV620 for fish next to a Garmin 536 for chartplotting for the best of all worlds. But that might just be me
  22. I have a slightly different perspective on things. While politicians are morons...and the system is corrupt....American's themselves have to be accountable and also take some blame. It was setup to fail. Blame the banks, blame the companies..but who made people run up 10's of thousands in credit card debt? Who decided that 'middle class' was a 2400 sq/ft 4 bedroom house, 60" plasma TV in 4 rooms, 2 35K new cars in the driveway, a boat, a summer home, etc.. If you try to justify $18 an hour for toll booth takers and $28 an hour with pension and ridiculous benefits for a high school diploma and the ability to turn a screw at AC Delco it was bound to crash and burn. The accountability for the economy has enough to go around. Meanwhile our Labor Secretary comes out supporting the deficit Wisconsin is trying to control...insane. Before 1980 it was not unheard of to raise a family in a 1200 sq/ft cape or ranch with a couple sharing a car and people managed to survive...happily might I add. We all helped run off jobs and all helped crash the game. Now we need to do what we can to get it back in control and think of our kids and grand kids futures in doing so. just my .02.
