  1. nope walleye season never closes in Ohio, on any water.
  2. I'm from Ohio, did it once and NEVER again. You didn't go during the peak of the run. Here is more of what it looks like during the peak. FREAK SHOW. Not worth it one bit. better off jumping on a head boat for 30.00 bucks and jiggin the reefs. Thank god I own a boat. Bunch of snaggers and noobs down there, I bet it's worse than bert dam
  3. I also use the tubes for rigged fly's, I use the flasher file for spin docs and other 8 inch flashers and for spoons I use special mate boxes. dodgers I keep in one of those fold up things that cabelas has, flasher folders or something. All nice and neat and tidy. I Amish outfitter Frank Kittrick (who sells trolling bags, big boards etc) sells these neat little things I made my own and they works sweet for cleaning up and re-using rigged fly's and storing leaders to re-use later in the day etc. All sorts of stuff made for boats and fisherman to keep things tidy.
  4. A guy I know has one for sale 80 pound 24 V for 400.00 http://www.ohiogamefishing.com/communit ... p?t=134471
  5. I had a 101 36 V on my 21 ft Ranger. It worked great for slow trolling cranks or spinners at speeds of 1.7 and under going with the waves, if you turned into the waves and had to turn up the juice it really killed the batteries if you trolled with the waves I could fish for 10 hours. Running the 36V set up with 3 optima group 31's I could do this. It's only going as good as the batteries you put to it. here are some pics of the motor mounted on the back of the boat. The reason the duel head motor is bad, nothing is blocking the water from hitting it, with a single set up the water from the big motor blocks water from getting to it. the double headed motor they are off to the side causing alot of pressure, I talked to some guys who had major problems. The minn kota comes with a little dial box with a 18ft cord you can have anywhere in the boat, allows you to dial in your speed to the tenth of a mph or whatever it's infinate not incremental no notches if that makes sense. So if your surgin with the kicker or big motor this let's you dial it right in just to where you need to be, great for doing that as well. I've even ran it in reverse trying to slow down on Erie in big swells while spinner fishing in the spring. Look behind my buddy with the fish, you can see it hanging off the motor.
  6. How much do the NK blanks go for? 28's and Mag silver dimple's??? do they come in lots or each. Details? thanks.
  7. I had one on my boat but just sold it since my new boat has a Terrova up front with AP. What do you want to use it for, I know trolling but what target speed and species. What size boat do you have? weight? I wouldn't put a dual headed motor on the back if I where you. good chance you'll rip it off.
  8. Yes just replace the tip with a Twili Tip and your good to go, 30 pound wire is the norm and a 1000ft spool fills a 47LCA or Takota 600LC perfectly with no backing required.
  9. Hey I know you!!! Cannon has a new unit on the market, might have a problem getting replacment probes for the older one. I just picked up a Moore unit for my rig, analog and parts and service can be had in Buffalo.
  10. Tim, I know it's not NY waters but we are seeing ALOT more musky and pike down here in Ohio waters of Erie for whatever that's worth, more and more guys are catching Musky by accident walleye trolling we're seeing a population increase. I'm going to fish for Pike after ice out in our harbors and bays and leave the spawning walleye alone for once. I hope I'm surprised I know they are out there but nobody fishes for them. Going to give Musky trolling a whirl around the island and a couple other areas as well.
  11. I had 3 Optima's in my 3 boat, 2 of them took a crap in less than 2 years (have a feeling the 3rd is going to be bad when I go fishing first time this spring!) . I'm replacing them with Sears Platnium Series. Same money (260.00) and they are a much better better, alot of my friends have been running them for along time and none of them have roached one yet. The Optima's warranty isn't worth a darn either. The Platnium's have 3 year free replacement I got nothing on my Optima's. They were 18 month I believe, one went after 20 and another after 23 months. We are using them for trolling motor batteries often discharging and charging them 3-5 times per year. So far the Platniums are performing WAY better than Optima's, they last longer as well on a single charge. Just looking at numbers on paper they are a better better and the warranty says it all as well, more than double what Optima provides.
  12. Are you guys aware of the Big Water Edition Cersion 2? it has it all. http://www.precisiontrolling.net/bigwater.html
  13. They are tough to come by, ask Billy V to see if he can get you some. I'll do some poking around as well I know some people I scored some sweet Minn Kota ones for my rig when I was fishing an FLW tournament, the Ranger boat trailer had them he gave me 2 and a bunch of other stuff I saw. I asked, I recieved.
  14. I buy bulk spools of Maxima Ultragreen and have to buy it at Bass Pro. Seaguar Flouro for fly's and leader material I buy at Xtackle, they carry it ALL and always in stock. I use Seaguar for salmon and walleye fishing on Erie, Ontario and in the rivers for steelies so I use and go through alot of it.
  15. 8.00 for a spoon that's not even hand painted using tape? I'll pass...sort of a joke if you ask me. Extremely sloppy tape jobs as well.
  16. I've heard good things about Dick Nite and Pro Cure scents. worth a whirl. I've used Pro Cure on walleye cranks with good sucess on a tough bite it helps I haven't played with scent salmon fishing much though but plan on it this season.
  17. How many colors are most of you guys running on your "short cores"? I have one 10 color right now on a 57ADP and plan on setting up a SWR but have a couple other reels that I could use for short cores.
  18. Well for future reference and a local resource that's close to you..Rodmakers is a nice shop if you have never been there, check them out. Full line of everything from musky baits to fly's for steelies, trolling gear to lead pooring
  19. Take them to the Rodmakers shop in Strongsville, they will put Penn washers and drags in them and will perform way better than new.
  20. I couldn't even pick up fish on a 240 when I had one and I had the good airmar transducer as well...my advice buy a different fishfinder, a good color, lowrance, bird, raymarine, etc. it will help ALOT!
  21. I've been eye balling your stuff and I did plan on giving you a call. You'll hear from me one time or another. A few of the fly's looks great and must have's as well. Thanks!
  22. Thanks for the additional input Tim, I appreciate it. Tournaments boil through my blood. I defintely want to learn from some of the best. I eventually want to enter on the AM side but need another year of learning under my belt, this would be a good way to do it.
