Are observers picked by random and fish with different team each day? I was considering being one. Anyone tell me anything more about being an observer.

I have the new Cannon 6 inch downrigger swivel mount in my Bert's track. no problem. As far as I know they are all interchangeable. I've had traxtech 4 inch rigger mounts in the Bert's tracks as well, not problems there as well.

Xtackle.com carried the full line of Seaguar, all spool sizes all types are available, I order my leader line from them, they carry alot of stuff Lake O fisherman can use. Church boards and parts, trolling bibles etc

It is built like a tank, it's awesome, not to many guys are running them, I know a few down here on ohio waters of Erie, very happy with it.

I would go with the T-8 awesome kicker, it comes with a high thrust 3 blade, lower gears and it's made for a kicker, since your transom has an open layout it's not big deal to hit the start button from the back of the boat and you'll get better throttle control from the tiller handle over a remote box, if you have the funds I would hook to a trollmaster for precise speed control to mount at the dash/wheel if that's where you sit while fishing. I have a Ranger walleye boat with 250 main power with a 9.9 pro kicker, hooked with a steering rod and trollmaster, kicker is a tiller and I couldn't be happier with the entire set up. You'll love the trim and tilt on it.

I had the older version of the electro steer not the T4 and it did work well, regreted not getting the wireless remote for it though night fishing when I was in the back of the boat someone usually me was always tripping over the cord. I have heard from guys who run the t4 its improved and better than the older version I had. Great way to steer a kicker without spending huge bucks. Having a high thrust prop will help so your not correcting as much. I didn't on my last boat and set up and it hurt me a little bit. One nice thing about this unit is if your only fishing with two guys is that you can be in the back of the boat fishing and even reeling one in or in the back of the boat with net in hand making small corrections if you got a good one in coming in to the right or left side of the transom you can steer the boat looking back so the fish comes right to the net much easier on the net man and the guy reeling. I use to the stick the remote in my pocket of my jacket or hoodie while reeling. pretty sweet.

Raider I launch from Edgewater the most, but use Rocky and 72nd as well. April, May and June it's Edgewater or Rocky or Avon...72nd I use for night bite in the fall.

Thanks for all the responses guys I appreciate it. I fish the western and central basin for walleye/steelhead in Ohio waters, I have 4 diver rods aside and seperate from what I'm asking about here. I have 4 dedicated dipsey rods set up for walleye to run on Erie with 8 ft sticks with power pro. These are for salmon fishing only on Lake O. I think I'm going to go with either the heartland or talora's at this point. I do like the shorter rods so leaning talora.

For a line suggestion, Maxima Ultragreen (I use 10lb test) I have found to be the best. I have been using it on my 27LCA's for going on 5 seasons now for fishing Erie I use it to pull inline planer boards, I catch erie walleye and steelhead on it and have never had a fish bust me off, it's un real strong. walleye and steelies to 12 pounds. I pull 6 oz bouncers to 40 jets with it, and run everything under the sun off inline boards with it. It's like XT on Steriods but much strong and more abrasion resistant and it's the perfect color for Erie and Ontario. I use it in 30 pound for my rigger rods, no fleas for king fishing.

I wouldn't get the one with the finer mesh a couple of friends have those...I dislike them, expecially when walleye fishing with spinners with multiple hooks, I have a full beckman net I purchased whole and another net I just purchased a beckman bag for. Both have a rubber-ized coating, hooks never get caught in and it's not springy at all. Here is what the bag looks like on both. Both are pretty large nets. For size comparison the one fish is around 40 inches 28 1/2 and the other is 23 pounds. The beckman handles and yokes are awesome, the handles are rock solid and extremely strong you'll never bend it...if you were to buy a whole net and bag FYI

Just a comment...ALL pro kickers come with electric start, on the tiller model a button the left side of the motor is present, on your boat it would be a far reach to hit that button. I have a 9.9 Pro Kicker and love it so your making a good decision as to buying one. As far as the controls go. I would just buy the Merc controls and rig it yourself a couple of my friends have their rigged with controls and they work okay...all my walleye buddy's still installed trollmasters for that extra fine tuning to a tenth of a MPH. From Merc's site on the electric start. All Pro Kickers are outfitted with electric and manual start systems for safety, convenience and peace of mind. Wow slob steelies. Biggest I have seen in Ohio waters, saw one 16.4 (on a spinner during a tourney no less) and a few here and there in the 13-14 range and maybe one 15 was caught last year.

What are all you guys running, want to pick up a new set just can't decide on which ones. Here are some I am considering. Okuma Blue Diamond wireline trolling rods run around $65-75 Okuma Convector GL $75 Shimano Talora $80 What model ugly sticks are you guys running for divers? Am I missing any other good ones that would work well? Nothing over 9 my boat's only 21ft I hate long rods. I plan on installing twili tips that I already have on these rods. Thanks
