  1. I am curious what weight you use and do you drift or anchor lock? I am assuming bucktails? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

    That's a good start.
  3. Nice pics and harvest. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. I have been doing well jigging bucktails on the north shore in the evenings in 15’ - 25’. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. Should be a good couple of days to be out too. Not so steamy. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. Today’s bird was 19.5 lbs. I did like you described and took the wings, back meat, and neck. Along with the giblets it is well over 10 lbs. of meat, that includes the leg, thighs and wing bones. Thanks for posting this. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. I got one to come my way this morning. This was my 18th morning chasing birds. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. It is definitely warm. I am still going until the bitter end. I had a hen come in and hammer on my decoy for 20 minutes this morning. I wish I had a video.
  9. Pretty uncool. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. Great job! I would rather eat a jake any day too. I whiffed on a good one yesterday. I should have passed on the shot. He will live to gobble another day and I can obsess over it for another week or 11 months. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. Those pumpkins should be great! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. Beautiful fish Chow! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. There is still a lot of time left. I have not had any encounters since opening weekend. The birds are still gobbling though. Sometimes you just have to grind it out until one makes a mistake.
  14. Check out Steve Rinella’s Osso Bucco recipe for deer shanks. It is excellent! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. That looks tasty! I have been using the Instapot for the legs/thighs and I fry up the giblets with some butter and seasoning. I think the legs and thighs are the best part of the bird.
  16. Very impressive. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. I can actually remember turkey hunting on Mother’s Day weekend in the 90s on snow. I was in college. I was out this morning and it was quiet but fun to have snow on the ground. The same area yesterday I had so many birds gobbling that by the time the last one gobbled the first one started again. They snuck by me just out of range though. Their roosting areas are consistent around here but they seem to hit the same roost once every 3 or 4 days. The other days it is like the Dead Sea. Brian - My first trip was last night. 1 keeper jigging in 30’ and 2 keepers casting shallow. I should have done better jigging but the wind was howling. Not much of a pattern but there seems to be plenty of fish around deep and shallow. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. The first 2 mornings were quiet for me. Yesterday I had a similar situation with a big tom strutting. I snuck up to 70 yards in the woods and I could not get any closer. He strutted away from me out of sight. Then 3 smaller (2 year old) Toms just happened to come from where he disappeared and I called 1 of them in to 10 yards. Unfortunately the shot was so close it destroyed the beard. He never flopped though! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. There is a note on the DEC web page under boat launches now. I would call that official. https://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/7832.html Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. Ironically I just received this in my email. https://www.themeateater.com/conservation/general/dont-blow-this-for-the-rest-of-us-how-we-keep-hunting-and-fishing-during-the-pandemic?utm_source=MeatEater Subscribers&utm_campaign=f0a5ecbd5e-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_03_11_08_57_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_e4b2ec63b4-f0a5ecbd5e-51798807&mc_cid=f0a5ecbd5e&mc_eid=71aed3faf2
  22. We could down this rabbit hole for days. Good luck with whatever you choose to do! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. The only thing that is ok in my eyes is fishing with the people that live in your household. For example, my wife and 2 kids. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. Godfrey Point is still open on Oneida. I just launched there and put the boat in the hoist. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. Godfrey Point on Oneida was open when I drove by this morning. I was told last night by an ECO that the state launches would remain open for now. Clearly that is not entirely correct since Mexico is closed. Hopefully any free unmanned launches remain open. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
