  1. Well I just spent 3 days on Lake Almanor, hunting browns. We put spoons out , flies out and stick baits, with nothing, Used steel line , copper, downriggers, then the planner boards with a 50mm abu garcia , the wife had her brown. Everything I have learned from you guys has been great, fish count is up. Now with this copper , what is the proper way to hook it up after the line is on the reel ? please need some help
  2. Oh yes , but we call them Mack's, I think you all call them Laketrout. ? Out here they go up in the 40s and some places the 50s. The winter time and spring they can be a hand full. But when caught below 50' it's like trying to wench a vw off the bottom on light line. Last week my wife had a 22lber brake off about 30' from the boat. 8lb line
  3. You all think thats combat fishing .come out here to the mouth of the Klamathriver when the salon are running up river. You can almost walk across the boats, then the guys on the shore are chucking 9oz sinkers into the middle. Man the fights brake out. Once was plenty for me.
  4. NIce fish, thanks for the picture. We don't have any walleye out here in Calif. Do they put up much of a fight ?
  5. Nice looking cromes there, thanks for the pictures
  6. I understand it sinks faster than leadcore. Do you get a whip action at the end ? does it put out a elect field that draws the fish ? could someone tell me the real purpose of it. I just got a new pen 340 and 8' okuma rod and 600' copper line and 200' 30 braid. So please tell me why I am going to use this. Erine has told me so much and it all works out here. My friends can not understand all these ways of fishing. Out here it's like the first computer, no one understands. Oh yes I am headed to Lake Almanor Ca. to day for 4 days of brown fishing. surface temp 64.6 my friend told me
  7. The first one I had was a cannon. I had to exchange it in at Cabela's 3 times, and it never worked right. So I went to the depth raider and I love it. People out here do not understand the purpose of it . But it's puts me right in the zone here
  8. I can not wait. The brother thing is cool also. For a old guy I fish from just brfor daylight to dark as well. Mine is all catch and release. Just a picture and back in they go. See our season is just starting to fire up. Gas is now 3.68 a gallon here. I have to have as much of the great lakes style fishing down I can, I love a dipsy off of steel line , the planner board thing is so cool, no more ripping the shore lines bt hand. And I know this copper line thing is going to be off the hook as well. So if I can get this spoon bend thing down I think I will be dialed in.
  9. Nice West Coast Kind there, Your son will have dreams for years to come., and the stories he will share with his friends. That a way to go DAD
  10. I am sorry some one name Jeff I think PM me about spoons, one min it was there and the next it was gone. So please resend me the pm. Thanks stan
  11. Hey thanks , I read everything on those boards. A ton of great information. I have to hand it to you guys , to take the time to share information is great. All the information I have read over the last 2 years on how you guys fish , works great out here as well. I think just a couple of things left to master. And one of these days soon plan a trip out there I pray.
  12. which one the 20' or the 50' the housebaot has no downriggers and you can not slow down enough to run dipsy divers. I have fished down the chute a few times for a couple of nice Rainbow Trout off her. Or may be I could trade it for a house in Watertown ??????? it's worth about 120,000. So I fish there in the summer and back here for the winter ????????
  13. This is my fishing boat , 2 mag 20 cannon downriggers 150 honda main and 8 yamaha kicker motor and this is my sleeping and cooking boat , plus a little catfishing now and then. Sorry our lake is down 147' Shasta Lake
  14. Ray . it's not just the cost of the house but a boat to go along with it. My 20 crestliner is great for lakes here. But a liitle to small for that big pond you guys have.
  15. Oh I would love to. But right now are lakes are just getting ready to fire off. On 9-8-2008 my wife got her first brown over 5lb on Cresent Lake Oregon. So what would a 2 bedroom home cost me ?
