  1. Thanks! I'll give it some thought. I had my heart set on a 12", but I'm sure I could live with a 10" screen.
  2. Thanks, I'll give some thought to the 10" as long as its an SI unit.
  3. I sent him a PM last night to ask if it was sold yet because I'm looking for this Humminbird model. He told me he had a gen 2 for sale. So I assumed this gen 3 was sold.
  4. Yep, I sold my canoe and bought a 16' row boat with a trailer. I still use that 3.3 Evinrude on my row boat, but it's a much better fishing platform and easy to launch & load.
  5. I had an Old Town square stern canoe several years ago and my little 2-stroke 3.3hp Evinrude was a perfect fit for that 16' canoe. Max rated hp was 4. That canoe/outboard combo was outstanding!
  6. Thanks guys! I trolled in 30-ish feet of water along the south shore, with stick bates and worm harnesses. Tried shallow sticks and deep sticks. Brought home 3 walleye, threw one back. We fought a strong 15-20 mph wind all day, and WEEDS/GRASS suspended from the surface down. Had to check our lures every 20-30 minutes just to clean the grass off the hooks. Compared to the other boats we talked to, we had a pretty good day. Tough conditions but we had fun.
  7. Over 70 views and not a peep. Crickets
  8. When your boat is all the way forward, with the bow eye against the roller, is the bow eye above, or below the roller? Your boat won't porpoise if it is all the way up to your roller. If it's supported by your roller, it won't porpoise. Idle forward and hit your brakes. That should slide the boat forward, up against the roller, with the trailer bunks wet. Problem solved without spending any money. If that doesn't work, then spend some money.
  9. I've only fished Oneida Lake once, and that was back in early July. Are the walleye going to be on the shallow shoals this time of year, or in deeper water? I'll be launching from the public launch just east of Bridgeport. I'm not asking for your secret honey holes, just a starting point. PM me if you prefer. Any good info is greatly appreciated!
  10. Apparently, Crestliner is still making boats with all-welded construction today, and you don't hear any problems with the new Crestliners.
  11. That was my first thought, but his probe only registered a 3 degree difference.
  12. How the heck is my 1988 Crestliner Sabre (welded aluminum, and not that west coast heavy gauge stuff) still holding up after 40+ years of fishing when these new boats are breaking left and right? There's no excuse for these modern boat makers to be allowing these boats to be sold, let alone pass their quality control standards. I hope Starweld makes it right for all of you who bought a poorly built boat.
  13. My boat does this every time, and I have a new winch & strap. I easy forward at the top of the ramp, on level pavement, and hit the brakes. It slides my boat into position every time. It happened with my 21ft fiberglass Bayliner, and it happens with my 22ft aluminum Crestliner. DON'T put too much stress on the bow eye by trying to crank it forward with the winch.
  14. Calf is just south of Stony Island
  15. Thanks! It was just a friendly poke. You always seem to find the fish
  16. I sold mine, but if I still had chickens, I'd still own it. It has a water hose attachment for the drum, but you can't use a regular water hose on it because cold water cools the bird off before it is plucked. Hook it up to a hot water line and you're all set. Or do what I did, slowly pour a 5 gallon bucket of hot water (from the bathtub) onto the bird while the plucker is spinning. Our hot water is set at 120 degrees.
  17. Best of luck, I hope it solves the problem.
