  2. I have a set of dual cannons that mount on the boom. Looking for the adapter piece that allows mounting those duals on rear. Let me know if anyone has these laying around. jason
  3. They will be fully packed when you spool them. I have lost about 100' on one reel and that shows a slight difference. j
  4. I don't think I have any on mine. I am running 7 strand that Tom spooled for me. I don't think he added any PP backing. j

    Kring point

The Launch at Krings is still iced up now right? I was thinking the ice out will be a little early this year? jason
  10. Rod Hog, that is one of the best lines I have read online in a long time..... j
  11. To The Top Photos to main post. PM if interested. Going on ebay soon. j
  12. I only run a 19.5' fishmaster so I can tailer the damn thing anywhere, the launches are the main concern for me. Don't wanna run it down to the launch to find it iced up for 10 yards and end up doing damage to the boat trying. Drift boat would be easy to skid over the shore ice Rich.
  13. I'm about ready to run the boat again. Waiting for this half baked ice that we are getting and constantly loosing is killing me, I am ready to throw the boat in again. Atleast when I am fishing I am not buying more stuff for fishing! Now I just gotta find open launches! j
  14. Why not just use an umbrella rig, larger profile, possibly stronger frame also. jj
  15. Mine (#27) have spots where they have poked out throught the sheath and have been fine for large fish, I have faught browns in spring with lead sticking out of the sheath, (land em then fix the lead....) if it is frayed up alot in that area or if the sheath is visibly damaged then you have to look at it a little closer. Are you close to a knot? If it is damaged and you are close to a knot, you should retieing. If you are talking about 1/2 a color in on a short rig, might be worth removing a full color for a shorter short core. (4 color is now a 3 color) If it is midway on a 10 color and the damage to the sheath is visibly disturbing to you, you gotta go with your instinct. j
  16. I use the 2 rubber band method, pain in the azz, sometimes. I put them on the copper itself 10-12" from the braid knot. The reason I first put them on the copper itself was a reccomendation from a buddy, can't remember why but I will tell you this, if in am hurry I have in the past just done a bill dance hook set to release the rig at the board, last year I did just that and broke off at the swivel. To my amazement when I looked out there I could still see the release and bands holding the 500 copper. I pulled the board in and carefully grabbed the copper, a haywire twist later I retreived my 500 copper. I would like to try the scotties but I don't need more knots and after keeping the copper rig that broke this year I hate to change up something that has worked. jj

  18. I don't think anyone knows the total story out there as it is a big lake. Something of note about Quinte, the biggest thing that has changed up there is the pressure on the fishery, probably due to the publicity it recieves as a "Big Fish Destination". The same thing was noticed about the numbers of large fish in the Oswego area years ago. First comes the publicity with mention in multiple magazines, then comes the pressure, there go the numbers of large fish. Some large fish are caught in these areas still but not the fishery they were at one time. Remember that these fish take a long time to grow that large, I forget the quote about size to age but the NYDEC has done a study on these fish and that information is out there. The efforts of great groups such as the NRA as well as others around the lake go unnoticed some times but I almost believe that is a blessing for the fishery. shhh....... great job guys....
  19. Ok, so who has the Fishhawk X4 cheapest either in a shop or on the net? I found $579 at Reeds http://www.reedssports.com/Product/product.taf?_function=detail&_ID=14231&pc=1199 Anyone know of any better pricing available? thanks again. j
  20. I am putting the money into a probe this winter and wanted to know what guys see as far as difference in blow back with different probes. Especially anyone that has run both units on their boats. Assuming that you are running the same weights on all their riggers, not running a probel weight that is heavier than the other riggers, what system has the least amount of blow back while trolling? X4 or the Depth Raider? My thoughts is that even if the probes were exactly the same, a depthraider's coated cable will result in more blowback and an additional loss of depth. Now, I know it would be very easy to determine the difference by bottom bumping. Further, how much of a difference that couple of feet of additional depth loose will really make especially as we almost never have 2 riggers set at the exact same depth is a totally different question. But we all know this game is all about the numbers. Thanks in advance for any input. jason
  21. Hey jason, Are they chrome on one side or taped on both? Either work better? thanks j
  22. Bump, maybe I'm loosing it...... Anyone know if there was another version of DJ Locker
  23. I just picked up a Davey Jones E-Chip, my question is didn't it used to be chrome on one side and taped (Chart/Green) on the other side? This is Taped on Both sides, not that it probably wouldn't work this way but I thought I remembered someone telling me chrome with tape on one side. Figured if I wanted to I could carefully remove and reglue tape on another chrome blade and make 2... jj
