  4. No experience, but some ideas.... The signals do share a common "return" through the water, so that might be coupling somehow. However, I would think the starboard probe would swamp any signal coupling. I assume you verified the starboard probe works with the port probe not in the water? If you swap probes does it follow the probe? If yes, maybe low battery in starboard probe?
  5. You do not need to electrically connect the coated cable to the rigger spool unless the rigger uses that for autostop, or positive ion control like some Cannons. It is not needed for the Depth Raider. I should have thought of this on my original response, but you can connect the ground wire directly to the lower lug on the probe to increase the signal strength for testing vs dropping in bucket. Your antenna should work then. You can also theoretically increase the signal strength in actual use by taping or otherwise insulating exposed metal that contacts the top lug of the probe, just make sure your swivel still works!. I tape up the clincher release with the stretchy, self-adhering tape down to the top of the swivel. Nothing on rest of swivel. I did coat the probe tab with "liquid tape" where the swivel does not contact, but don't know if it made any difference. I get 150ft with x-version Depth Raider.....175+ft with wet towel....YMMV
  6. Did you put the ground wire (negative power connection) in the bucket too? If a metal bucket just connect ground wire to bucket.

Add-A-Battery Kit - 120A This system keeps both batteries charged automatically, but isolated so your start battery does not get discharged by your electronics. The switch is ON/OFF/BOTH. BOTH is only for emergency if your start battery is low for some reason.

  11. You “can”, but to reduce the possibility of ground loops and interference between electronics, you should connect all negative returns to the ground bus bar. If you cannot upgrade the bus bar you would be better off “double lugging” the second battery to your ground bus bar than connecting it to the negative terminal of the first battery.   15. I believe there are 4 magnets in the spool that the control board counts as the spool rotates. Maybe you lost a magnet on the spool or it is not being sensed?   17. Make sure your "little portable 12v battery" is up to the task by checking the voltage with the spotlight attached. If the spot is a regular incandescent it will light even at low voltage, where your LED lights may not. Sent from my SM-T820 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. I have the DRx-10 Depth Raider. I used torpedo speed and temp for a year or so. I stopped because it tended to twist or untwist after several outings even with a ball bearing swivel and was a bit of a pain to re-terminate. The other issue I had was the PIC voltage on my cannon downrigger would cause the Depth Raider to read erratically until I insulated the antenna coil from the metal sheath on the torpedo cable. At the end of the day I did not notice any improvement depth range and since I had to service the torpedo cable more often than with a coated cable, I went back to the coated cable.
  19. I moved my Depth Raider from the dash to the rigger a few years ago. If I recall the antenna cable is already a shorter cable that attaches to a longer cable to get to the dash. All I needed was a male to male adapter to connect the antenna to the head unit. In my case I have the drx version, the adapter was a TNC....not sure but older ones might be an RCA connector. I just figure eight and tie-wrap any extra cable.
  20. I have both and found it is not simply an offset. I calibrated gps, depth raider, and fish hawk to read identical at 2.5mph (in calm water)...at 3mph on depth raider, fish hawk reads 3.3; at 2mph on depth raider, fish hawk reads 1.8.   22. I started using hollow core braid for all my copper and steel connections. Same concept as the Chinese Finger Trap. ....used by tuna fisherman and others for big fish in the ocean. Smallest transition profile and nearly 100% knot strength. I also use it for backing in all applications....a little more expensive, but worth it in the long run for reasons mentioned above. Downside is it is not a "in the field" implementation for repairs. You need long needles and a few accessories make it much easier if doing a lot. Many videos and instructions online. I even use the technique on my lead core as that is nothing more than hollow core with lead in it. Nothing easier than a Willis knot, but it is nice not worrying about it hanging up in rod an reel.   23. I ended up putting it on the rigger rod: 30lb mono to camera, 15-20lb flouro/mono leader. I have had salmon actually hit the camera! Rigger mount will make you seasick reviewing video in rougher conditions, and the detail is acceptable only with very short leads. Plus the cable hum is very loud....but you can turn down the audio.
