You “can”, but to reduce the possibility of ground loops and interference between electronics, you should connect all negative returns to the ground bus bar. If you cannot upgrade the bus bar you would be better off “double lugging” the second battery to your ground bus bar than connecting it to the negative terminal of the first battery. I moved my Depth Raider from the dash to the rigger a few years ago. If I recall the antenna cable is already a shorter cable that attaches to a longer cable to get to the dash. All I needed was a male to male adapter to connect the antenna to the head unit. In my case I have the drx version, the adapter was a TNC....not sure but older ones might be an RCA connector. I just figure eight and tie-wrap any extra cable.

I started using hollow core braid for all my copper and steel connections. Same concept as the Chinese Finger Trap. ....used by tuna fisherman and others for big fish in the ocean. Smallest transition profile and nearly 100% knot strength. I also use it for backing in all applications....a little more expensive, but worth it in the long run for reasons mentioned above. Downside is it is not a "in the field" implementation for repairs. You need long needles and a few accessories make it much easier if doing a lot. Many videos and instructions online. I even use the technique on my lead core as that is nothing more than hollow core with lead in it. Nothing easier than a Willis knot, but it is nice not worrying about it hanging up in rod an reel. I tape up the clincher release with the stretchy, self-ahering tape down to the top of the swivel. Nothing on rest of swivel. I did coat the probe tab with "liquid tape" where the swivel does not contact, but don't know if it made any difference. Yes, what dawg said. Adding a chafe tube between wire and release will give a better fit and protect cable insulation. I had an almost identical morning out of I-bay. 2 for 4, a skippy and a high teen king. I trolled 90fow to 400fow, fish caught and lost all in less than 200fow. The thermal break you mention extended east of the bay, I almost questioned my probe, as you said it was significant. I worked it for while with no success. Overall, marks were few and far between, and most were small…a few streakers/followers. Bait was scarce, but I did find two large pods in 400fow, but no hooks or marks around them. I spent a fair amount of time working the area without a hit or seeing more than one hook and it was 150ft down. Nothing really worked on the fleas, even frequent cleaning of lines. That “super flea” attaches harder the more you work it, even on 50lb mono….I ended up trimming line to keep fishing.

Interesting you mention the swivel....the one I lost was due to a destroyed swivel....also suspect a decent king. Second time this year a SPRO swivel failed and cost me fish and tackle......rated for 45lbs test? Needless to say, I have replaced all SPRO swivels with DW and Torpedo brand.
