  1. Sounds like were set up very similarly. I also have 4 ram rod holders in a trac mount system. Also have dual crank planning board mast in front that goes into my pedestal mount. I have two Cannon electric riggers with dual rod holders. I also often run Off Shore inline planners. I agree that the boat is very versatile and I also fish bass, panfish and duck hunt out of my Lund. I had it in at Krings Point this morning perch fishing. May is the month for Black River . I fish shallow with bottom bouncers and spinners and worms and farther out with deep running cranks. Mud Bay, Guffins Bay and Chamount Bay are also worth a try for walleye. I also fish the St. Lawrence a lot in the summer and do well on walleyes and run to Bay of Quinte in may and in the fall. PM me your phone number and I'll give you a shout and we can talk specifics if you want.
  2. I've been itching to get out but this week the weather doesn't look like it's cooperating. I fished out of Stony early last year and caught one brown near Sandy. We dodged some ice and logs also. The water was very clear, til I got near the creek, where the water colored up and was warmer. I fished out of Mexico and Pine Grove and did very well down that way a little later in the year. We managed to catch limits of double browns, an Atlantic and a few lakers thrown in the mix. Water temperature and color seem to be the key. Need water that's not crystal clear and a few degrees warmer water really concentrates the fish. If you hit a fish work that area as there are likely more nearby. I had good luck on stingers spoons back between 100 and 150' in 5-15' of water. I'm going to try more sticks in real tight this year. 42 temp near the creek sounds like a good place to be near if everything else is 37 degrees. Creek mouths tend to be good this early. Maybe I'll see you out there sometime! I've got an 18' Lund Alaskan and, as I said, usually launch at Stony, Pine Grove or Mexico. I also fish Black River, Henderson, and Chamount area for walleyes.
  3. I fished Kring's Point the last couple days. Perch are spotty but I got about third of a pail each day. The ice is getting bad along the shorelines and in current areas. Lots of guys fishing but all seemed to be in the search mode rather then the catch mood. With rain today and warm temps. this week it may be over very soon. Then it's time to break out the boat!
  4. I had had Cutco fillet knife and the blade broke. They replace it at no charge. The second knife blade also broke and it too was replaced, no questions asked. Both knives were well used. I agree they are a great knife. I love there adjustable blade and case with sharpener Their warranty and service is great. Both my brothers also have one.
  5. Thanks for the early report. I'm sure it got many of us fired up. I know I went out and made sure batteries are charged and turned over the 4 stroke (fired on first click). Not sure what launches might be open to the east but things should should start to happen this week with the good weather report.
  6. I'm itching to get a boat in but think I'll wait till next week when the weather is suppose to be a little better than today. Let us know how you make out.
  7. There wasn't any on Wednesday but I'm sure there is some today. Otter Creek appeared to be breaking up somewhat this afternoon. Things will change rapidly with this warmer weather. With luck will have a boat in somewhere soon.
  8. Fished Chaumont yesterday afternoon and caught about a third of a pail of decent perch. The water was a little milky from run off. Had to weed through smaller ones but not a bad afternoon. The ice was really popping and cracking as it heated up but there was plenty of ice (snowmobiles and 4 wheelers on the ice). This warm rain and wind could change things in a hurry. I'd definitely be careful near the shorelines as they are always the first to go. Seems like every year at this time someone drops a 4 wheeler through.
  9. Nice fish. I live in the Thousand Islands and itching to fish on something other than ice. Perhaps I should think of a run to Cayuga. I jig fished lakers there a couple summers ago and had a ball.
  10. Fished Chamount this morning. Access can still be a problem but fortunately I have a friend where I can park. Caught about a half pail of decent perch in a few hours fishing. Not great but there were some good flurries. They were hitting close to the bottom and wanted very little jigging action, nearly dead sticking..
  11. Fished Goose Bay again yesterday afternoon. Trucks out on the ice and snowmobiles racing. Caught about a dozen decent perch mostly on small minnows off tip ups and a few bluegills on jigs. Also a few crappies around. Might try somewhere different today.
  12. Pike season closes the 15th but perch should be turned on by then.
  13. With cold weather were having and the melt last week it should be easy going and good ice on the river.
  14. I was in Marathon a couple weeks ago and got hit by two fronts in one week. Limited fishing to near Seven Mile Bridge. Did manage to limit on Mangrove snappers the three times we made it out. May run to Niagara River to try steelie soon.
  15. Went out on Goose Bay yesterday for a few hours. Ice conditions were suprisingly good plenty of ice and no slush. (Bring your creepers it's slippery) There was even a truck on the ice. Fishing was a little slow. Ended up with two pike about 25" and a dozen small bluegill in about four hours of fishing.
  16. Yep, I also am feeling the itch. With warm weather yesterday and today and winds we lost a lot of snow and some ice. The bodies willing, the boats ready, bring on the browns.
  17. Thanks for the great pictures.
  18. I saw a show a too and I'm interested in trying this in NY. I live on east end of the Ontario anyone have any suggestions where I might try?
  19. I'm not sure what it came off but using the model number you should be able to determine rather it would work for you. I contacted Don's prop and they said it was for larger Outboard and IO.
  20. Rebuilt Aluminum prop (Don's Prop) Johnson/ Evinrude/ OMC For larger outboard and IO Model #385031 141/2 X 19 New $138 Rebuilt $95 Asking $55
  21. Looks like a great shoot. Any good recipes for those birds?
  22. Mine are soaking in salt water also. If they still turn out not very tasty I'll either turn them into sausage, sticks, or corn them like corned beef. I use goose like that when I have a lot and they turn out good. Did you get the Cans and Redhead in the Finger Lakes?
  23. What a great shoot . All I can say is I'm jealous.
