  1. Certainly not a complete waste of time but also not a high percentage game. Bass, perch, pike and walleyes are much more readily available as most muskies are caught toward Cape Vincent and usually latter in the fall.
  2. I might also add it might depend on where it was caught. A seven in some places is big indeed but for Lake Ontario or the Bay of Quinte I would hold out for something over ten. I've caught many over seven and a good number over ten and eleven and still haven't mounted one. Generally we release the big ones after a quick photo. Whatever you decide should feel right to you.
  3. Another good morning on the river with similar results. Two 25" one 19" lost another and released a keeper as I'd already limited out.
  4. Hit the river again this morning. Had 5 walleyes on but only boated 3. Also caught 6 nice smallmouths. Walleye fishing has been very consistent . Only shut out one day and generally get two or three.
  5. On the river again this morning with more good results. I caught some really nice smallmouths to go with the two walleyes. I released several other larger smallmouths.
  6. I was on Conesus a couple years ago and saw the same behavior. I don't have a good explanation but it is interesting to observe and obviously not that unusual.
  7. Sounds like what we found last week. Hit 2 lakers and one skippy after having a great day on browns the week before. How quickly things can change with a change of wind and a good blow. I talked to a friend that charters there and he said the bass fishing has been great but salmon and browns have been scarce. Thanks for the feedback

  9. My friend was up last weekend and didn't do great. His place is on Green Point near Deseronto. I've done the ice fishing as well and got 3 over 11 lbs. one day. They filmed a show for Bob Izumi there last winter and caught a bunch through the ice.
  10. October is a little early. I'd definitely wait till Nov. I hunt a lot also but late Nov. and Dec. are the time for big eyes in Quinte so I forgo some hunting for those giant fish. Fortunately I'm retired so tend to hunt or fish daily. We go until ice prevents launching Then I turn to late season diver duck hunting.
  11. Fall fishing on Quinte is awesome. We fish there frequently as I have a friend with a camp there and catch many over 10 lbs. The latter in the fall the better.
  12. I also heard they were hitting on the lake and thinking of giving it a try.
  13. Fished the River again this morning and caught the walleyes trolling well after sun up. Thought I had a monster while jigging that ended up being a 10 lb. drum.
  14. Sounds like you had a good week. Lots of eyes available once you master a technique. I live up here and get out a few mornings a week. I like early morning best as I'm off the water by the time boat traffic picks up. You're right about the fish, they are fat and that size is great for the table. I got three early this morning trolling in shallower water 20-30'. I go to jigging after the sun gets bright.
  15. Back on the river this morning caught three walleyes . Two 19" and one released 17". Talked to a friend that has been hitting them in 80 fow on jigging spoons. I got mine trolling cranks and sticks.
  16. Fished out of Henderson today and had a tough morning.Ended up with a couple lakers and a skippy. Fished the wall, and the trench where we caught the lakkers and in to 45 fow off Stony Point. Not much on the screen but did hit a couple fish in shallow. Nothing like a week ago.

Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Longlegg ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 8/4 Time on Water: 6:00-11:00 Weather/Temp: 75 clear Wind Speed/Direction: N 5-10 Waves: 1-2' Surface Temp: Location: South of Stony Island LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 12 Total Boated:10 Species Breakdown:9 browns and skippy Hot Lure: spoons Trolling Speed: 2.1-2.8 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 85-140 Lure Depth: 60-120 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS Slow steady pick. Not much bait marked and not a lot of fish on the graph but we picked away with riggers and sliders and dipsies. Interestingly we caught a double on a single rod, one off rigger and one on slidder. Also had a fish hit two of our spoons on two different rods and when netted had both spoons in it's mouth. Go figure. ====================
  18. I've actually got one planned for the guys in my church gor next Wednesday. Your welcome to join us! Fished again yesterday and today and I believe we've taken 106 crappies in 5 outings.
  19. I've been back last two days and crappies are still there. Took my wife this morning and caught a nice mess.
  20. After catching and releasing about 15 bass ( 4 over 17') we switched over to ultralights and jigs and boated 22 crappies which were not released!
  21. As I said I fish the stickbaits with heavy bottom bounces in 30-60 fow. Fish cranks in 25 fow and shallower. Chartreuse and green silver are good colors to start with.
  22. Pete, Great to see young kids enjoying the fishing I may call you for some information if you don't mind..
