We did end up with a limit but it was a tough pick. Some were in 8 fow and others in 22. Fish seemed to be in small bunches. two or three fish then nothing so we covered a lot of water. The weather was amazing. In fact it was actually too hot! With all the warm water the fish seem spread out and fish are averaging a little smaller then last year. ====================

I've hit Mexico a couple times but with gas prices, a shorter trip would be appreciated. Right now I believe Mexico Bay has warmer water but it wasn't great yesterday. ====================

We also fished the same area in a Lund Alaskan. went 2 for 4. Nice day on the water but couldn't find the fish.

Fished toward Selkirk early and had a little activity. Lost a good fish that got wrapped on the board. Found some 45 degree water but couldn't find fish. Made a run to Catfish and didn't find anything better. Never could find any colored water. Ran a variety of spoons and sticks and varied depth and speed running 8 rods and still couldn't find them. many boats on the water fishing in the fog and everyone seemed to be searching. Didn't see many fish boated. Mush different than Wednesday. Hope someone found some. ====================

Another great day together we made a good call on beating the thunderstorm. My brother may be coming out to fish early next week.

Does anyone know why most brown trouts flesh is bright orange but some are whitish tan. I asked this question last year and some thought it was because some stay in the lake and others run up streams and others thought it had to do with a diet of fish vs, eggs. Any ideas. Photo shows fillet from two different fish.

Trolling for walleyes at Mud Bay on Tuesday and we caught a 40" muskie and a 20#+ laker. The muskie picture didn't come out well due to wet lens.

Mine was delivered today.

Ice is going fast be careful out there.

Fished Chippewa Bay Sunday and caught a nice bunch of perch. Still 10" of ice and was even a truck on the ice.

I just ordered one! I have a light weight combo fly/spin take down rod it should work well on.

I fished Eel Bay yesterday. Still plenty of ice (about 12"), in fact there were about 6 trucks on the ice. Many dink perch but I managed about a quarter pail of decent perch (a couple pushing 13") The larger perch came on tipups using pike bait while many smaller fish were caught on jig pole. I also caught around 7 pike both on tipups and jigs. They were mostly small but I did hit one 24". With warm weather and strong wind today the ice will likely be going soon but it is going to be cooler Sunday and Monday.

Drove to Krings today. One couple setting up for fishing off shoreline. Ramp still iced in but a small boat could be easily launched on the point

The launch at Kring's is iced in still but I believe you can slide a small boat in off the point. We launched a boat at Wagoner's Marina yesterday and watched the Polar Bear Dip at A-Bay. Right now Chippewa Bay, Eel Bay, Lake of the Isles and Goose Bay can be ice fished. All can be good. Chamount Bay can be very good but not sure on ice conditions there (it was open outside last week). All of these bays can be hot for perch. Within the next couple weeks all should be available for open water fishing.

I'm always around and generally keep a handle on what's happening up here.

Yep many people line the shore fishing after ice out but even a small boat gives you better access and freedom to move.

I fished Goose Bay yesterday morning. Caught a couple pike and some decent perch off tip-ups and a bunch of small perch and bluegills on jig poles.About a foot of ice. Rumors of crappies but I didn't get any. Main river is open but large bays still are fishable.

I live in the area and fish it regularly. Perch are generally there as soon as ice is out. You could get a small boat in now as the main river is basically ice free. I ice fished inside on Goose Bay yesterday and caught a couple decent pike, a few nice perch off tip-ups, and many small perch and bluegills on jig poles..

I too shot an 11-87. I also use an IC choke most of the time over decoys for ducks and geese. I may go to mod. if I'm pass shooting. 4's or 2's for ducks, 2's or BB for geese. Works for me 4's seem to work better on the cripples.

I fished Goose Bay last week with limited success. Did manage a dinner of nice perch off pike tip ups.

First trip out on the ice. Rather slow day on Goose Bay. No pike, a couple largemouths, and enough perch for dinner. Five nice perch came on tipups baited with pike minnows the rest jigging..

Just returned from Western NY and some late season diver action. Thursday was an incredible day. Wind, waves and we were where they wanted to be. Ended up with 6 Scoter, 5 Whistlers, a Buffy and a goose. Probably passed on 100 birds which were in or over the decoys. Tried to pick out the males and let females, smaller birds and Oldsqaw go. Friday was a different day with less wind and far fewer birds. We still manage 8 Oldqaw, a broadbill and a scoter. Great way to end a rather disappointing season.
