  1. I had another nice Tom at 25 yards this morning but he made me as I tried to slowly move the gun. Didn't want to risk a running shot.Should have been more patient and waited till he fanned and turned around.
  2. Sounds like your a fast learner. Congratulations on a great trip. What a great fisheries we have.
  3. Thanks Ray, I definitely would prefer to work one in but on a rainy morning I wasn't going to pass up a golden opportunity on a nice bird that I've scouted.
  4. t was raining when I got up but I put 10 birds to bed last night where I had earlier built a blind so I had to go. Got in early and put out a hen in each field along a fence line. As dawn approached I could see three birds on the roost where I left them last night about 120 yards away.Just after legal shooting time I heard a thundering gobble from the tree right next to me. Big Tom about 25 yards up that I had walked under when I put out a decoy. i never even called and when his feet hit the ground he was mine. Didn't see him fly up last night or I would never have set up that close. Scouting does pay dividends.. 9" beard and 1 1/4 " spurs. Look kinda ratty when they are wet!
  5. I almost fished out of Stony this morning but made the run to Mexico instead. I've fished 10 days this spring and we've limited and released others 9 of the 10 days. Been a great spring so far but I'm about to transition some to walleyes.

Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name :Longlegg ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):April 31 Time on Water: 6:00-12:00 Weather/Temp: sunny Wind Speed/Direction: light E Waves: <1 Surface Temp: 46 Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 17 Total Boated:14 Species Breakdown: all browms Hot Lure: spoons Trolling Speed: 2.0-2.4 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 8-40 Lure Depth: 3-25 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS Picked up a bunch of browns early near Selkirk in 15 fow. Later ran toward Oswego and out into 20-45 fow looking for a possible king. Tried lead-core, down riggers and dipsy with little success except for a few more browns. There are some kings being caught but we didn't hit any. Photos of some of the released fish. ======= =============
  7. Last morning of scouting as I'm fishing the lake for browns tomorrow. I've located several nice Toms on land I have access to and a couple bunches of Jakes. Hopefully, if I'm successful, I'll be able to post some photos some day this week.
  8. Also out around Bull Shoal with deep divers off boards and a good chance for big pike also. Out from where the Black River flows into the bay there are a series of white buoys and I've caught them there on spinners and crawlers in about 7 fow.
  9. Great photos. Can't wait to hear thew stories.
  10. I fish the St Lawrence at night on a regular basis and often use a spotlight to shine up the eyes and find location. The bright spotllight definately causes the fish to move off nto deeper water. I do use a headlight when fishing and as long as you're not shinning it into the water it has little affect. May want to try a red colored light if you're really worried. t's amazing how shallow fish will got night.
  11. I boughyt a second one as I liked the first on so well.
  12. Unbelivable perch in Seneca. Haven't seen perch like that in nearly 40 years since I went to school at Hobart. Most places a 13" is a pig.
  13. I talked to a friend that fished there Saturday and said they had a decent day. Others fished Monday and things were slow.
  14. Ryan, Sounds like a great day. We hit the browns well on Friday and also got a laker and a whitefish. Nice to see some Kings showing up. I'm out of town next week but will be headed out when I return. There's been a good perch bite on at Kring's.
  15. On Wednesday I had 46 lbs. of large (over 8.5 inches up to 13") fishing by myself. I only had 10.5 lbs. of medium and 2 lbs. of small. The only smalls I keep are gut hooked. They are paying $1.75 for large and $1.50 for medium. That's a good ratio of large perch. I use the largest fathead minnows I can get.
  16. Not sure as I crushed them on Tuesday and Wednesday. Mostly nice fish. Where exactly were you fishing? Hard to believe they are gone after what I caught this week but it can happen. I fished Mexico for browns yesterday and we went 20 for 23!
  17. Mine are not I fish or hunt most every day!

Fish hit well early and we had limited out by 8:20. continued to upgrade through the morning. Mostly browns with better average size this trip. Many in the 4-5 ponders and a few larger. Caught the first whitefish of the year. Having trouble downloading photos from my phone. ====================
