  1. I catch them in Henderson and Chaumont fishing for walleyes I the spring but have never caught one down river.
  2. Beautiful fat fish. Hope you can stay on them.
  3. Way to go Justin
  4. I seldom see alewives. Gobies are their main food but obviously will eat big prey. They do bite some after sunrise but we are generally fishing in the dark.
  5. Landshark, You know your welcome anytime. Average weight was 7 1/2 pounds.
  6. One had these in it's stomach.
  7. Seems like Fox and Grenadier would be good but I haven't fish it. Mostly been hitting walleyes.
  8. Beautiful limit in 2 1/2 hours this morning.
  9. This one appeared to be full of gobies.I caught one off a rigger on a spoon once but not as big. Would have liked to seen that one nearly 15" Landshark. Didn't know they got that big. Any idea what it may have weighed?
  10. While trolling the SLR for walleyes this morning I hooked what I thought was a smallmouth. Turned out to be a 12", 1.3 lb. rock bass. Don't believe I have ever seen one this big but it's well off the state record. Also caught a nice limit of walleye.
  11. Sounds like a great fisherman in the making!
  12. Hit another limit in a half hour on Sunday.
  13. Fished in solitude this morning. Caught at least 20 bass in about an hour. Many 8-11" but released a limit of nice largemouths. Very relaxing morning.
  14. Decided to try the bass since we missed opening weekend. My wife limited out and I only managed 3. One flopped of the board before I took the photo. Fish were in 4-12 fow. Some still on beds. Had to search for them but they were nice size.
  15. Might want to try posting on Warm Water walleye.
  16. Old topic don't know how it was reposted
  17. I have seen mixed reports before and since I generally have a full freezer have never given them a try.
  18. Caught some monster drum at Chaumont, BRB, and Quinte. Never tried to eat them though.
  19. Get them trolling on the lake. Not as often in the SLR.
  20. Prof T , Save a few of those early morning fish for when I get back from OKC. Not much competition out there at that time (I love the solitude) and always great sunrises. Looks like there are plenty of nice fish to be had.
  21. I've tried many, many different approaches on the SLR (jigs, jigging spoons, drifting bait, slip bobbers, down riggers, lead core, wire, planing boards, dipsy divers, casting sticks and cranks) and have had some success with several. I think it's Important to try a variety of tactics to find what is working on a given body of water on a particular day. Sometimes you figure out something outside the box that is very effective. I actually have tried drifting worms and minnows on slip bobbers in the current but had no success,

Full moon this weekend should really fire them up. I'll be thinking of you guys this weekend and will hit them when I return from OKC.

    SLR Eyes

I'll give them a weeks break while at my son's wedding in OKC.
  24. I either vacuum seal or use a zip lock and add water to cover cheeks. That way you can easily keep adding cheeks and water till bag is full. There is also a nice thumb size chuck of meat in front of each pectoral fin that is worth saving.I already have a couple quart bags frozen ready to use.
