My brother-in -law to be had a gret idea for his bachelor party. First thing in the morning we had 10 guys for a goose shoot on his farm. The end result was harvesting 99 geese. Then we switched gears and went to a nearby game farm where we shot 19 pheasant and and so clay birds. After 2 hours of cleaning birds we enjoyed food, beverage and fellowship at the lodge there. , Smoked goose breast, smoked salmon dip, fried walleye, BBQ beef brisket, and pork loin were on the menu. What a great idea! We certainly all had.a great time.

I've also made them into Rumaki. Cut into 1 1/2 squares and slice in the middle (not all the way through). Put a sliced water chestnut in the slice and wrap in bacon held with toothpick. Marinate in Teryaki sauce and then fry until bacon is browned. Everyone loves it. I think the reason oose has a bad reputation is it was poorly prepared. If it's over cooked it gets tough, dry, and livery. I agree with bottom-feeder I really like it and there are many ways to make it very tasty .It's also free range like most of our diet.

I really can;t take much of the credit as my friend Gabe is the goose whisperer..Great decoys, calling, and dog. He actually found another bird making 72! I cleaned a bunch and even saved the legs and thigh meat. I use them in lots of ways that are pretty tasty. I brine and smoke some breast, make jerky in the dehydrator, grind and mix with pork and make loose Italian and breakfast sausage. I also like to grill the small ones using a rub and cooking to med rare. I take some to a local shop and have them made into ring bologna and sticks. None ever go to waste.. . .

Nice to share that Justin.

After a poor day on the lake yesterday we hit the goose field today. We had an outstanding day finishing with 71 birds. We pulled the plug 4 short of the 5 man limit with birds still working the field. What a great way to spend a morning. I'll post a picture with the full crew when I get it but here ias a photo with three of us. Gabe's dog Bailey once again did a wonderful job.

Justin, I had an incident today on the lake when a charter cut behind me and hung my 400 foot copper and FF on his rigger. Not a boat within a half mile and no one at all behind me and he had to cut that close. After pulling lines and chasing him down he said it hooked his rigger and he threw it bask in after he unhooked it. At that point it was no longer attached to my backing. Rather than trash him on a post, I called him for an explanation and he apologized and at least he offered to pay for half the replacement.cost.

Well, we got a touch beat up on the lake this morning at Henderson.. NOAA Marine said 1 footers or less and it ended up easy 3 footers and some bigger fishing from my 18 foot Lund Alaskan.. We took a couple over the bow before we said uncle.after fishing about 6 hours. I also lost an 400 foot copper wire and Flasher fly to another boat that cut too close behind me and hung it on his rigger. He was also a charter captain so should have known better..There wasn't another boat within a half mile of us and nobody at all behind me. Rather than trash him on this forum I called him for an explanation and he apologized and at least offered to pay half the replacement cost. Oh and we also got skunked so it's back to the goose fields in the morning.

I too use 50 no snubber.

Rude, irresponsible boat behavior is always a pain and if drinking is involved it seems to only make it worse.

I seldom even see another boat when I fish in the early mornings. That and the fact that the fish are active is good motivation for me to get a very early start and be off the water when most people are just putting in.
