  1. Pap, Thanks we will try. Going to get you guys out this week.
  2. After having the birds work just out of range yesterday we made the appropriate move and had an excellent shoot today. One bird shy of the 4 man limit. Most birds we killed between 8:00-10:00 and they worked our spread nicely. Bailey also was excellent in her retrieving.
  3. US or Canadian side? Launch at Cardinal Ont. is good and walleye fishing in that area is also good.
  4. Justin, I agree that I will enjoy the hunting journal.
  5. Slow morning for us. The birds were landing about 70 yards from our blind so not much shooting. Tomorrow we will make an adjustment and hunt standing in the cattails. Also the wind they were calling for never really materialized and rain wasn't too heavy.
  6. After getting two pheasants and a turkey yesterday and a woodcock this morning, My brother and I decided to to go for a boat ride on the river and perhaps troll a little. We fished for about and hour total between 12:50 and 2:30 and caught two walleyes about 5 lbs., missed another one and caught a smallmouth. Not bad for a mid-day boat ride! Tomorrow it's on to the ducks!
  7. I hit the river again this morning and only caught one walleye but did loose a much bigger fish. North wind made fishing challenging.
  8. Justin, I also don't mind sharing techniques and general information either but I don't give specific locations particularly on some of the small Indian River Lakes. I may give out more specific information by pm to guys I've grown to know and trust.

Yep that wind made for tough fishing. I caught 1 eye and lost another big fish.
  10. I am having a difficult time getting motivated to sit in a tree stand in this type of weather. I think I'l be spending time in my boat this week and continue to catch fish and chase ducks this weekend.. My brother is arriving tomorrow for a week of hunting and fishing. We will be after pheasants, grouse, woodcock, and ducks and probably hit the walleyes on the river. If the salmon ever show up we may hit a trib. with the fly rods as well. If it cools off I may even sit a couple watches in a tree stand. I love this time of year! Ultimate in cast and blast.
  11. I was up early this morning to scout out a duck pond. Spent about 45 minutes watching the marsh come alive. Those that share my passion know it's far more involved than the number of birds one bags. I had a great, relaxing morning and even saw a few birds. Still haven't decided if I'll hunt here once the season opens.
  12. I actually didn't look very closely as I was happy with the redheads .You may be right.
  13. Never killed a redhead last year but this morning on the Canada opener we got two ans a scaup on a bluebird morning.
  14. I wish casting was more of an option here but most most of the fish I've caught recently have been down around 32 feet.
  15. With all the geese we've shot the last couple weeks I tried a couple recipes and they came out great. I made goose breast corned beef and goose breast pastrami. Not hard at all. Both use a Morton Tender Quick, water, pickling spice and sliced onion to brine for three day to cure. That's all you do for the corned beef. For the pastrami you then uses a black pepper, corinander, paprika rub and place in smoker or oven under low heat ( 220-240 degrees) till meat is to 160-170 degrees. That's it and both are very good. Now I can make a breakfast and Italian sausage, corned beef, pastrami, and smoked breast and they all are all very good. My days of having it made into sticks and pepperoni etc. are now limited as it's quite expensive to have done and these are all tasty and cheap. I also save the young ones to grill using a rub.
  16. I went one for three this morning but only fished from 6:00-8:00 as I slept in . I'm a little tied from chasing after geese this week and tomorrow I'm hunting ducks in Canada.
  17. Four of us hunted the last day of the early goose season and once again piled them up. We quite at 52 today and I'm sure we could have killed a few more. That makes 266 on the five hunts I've been on this early season. What a great start to the hunting season. Duck opener in Canada on Saturday is likely to be a bit of a letdown.

  19. Hunted again with my friend Gabe Ward and we shot our limit of 30. Tomorrow is the last day of the early season but Canadian duck season opens on Saturday..
  20. I'd go to Quinte as late as possible.
  21. Looking forward to getting together.
