  1. Went 3 for 4 out in 62 FOW near the fence. Thought the bite was slow. Decent fish, a 6 , a 5 and a 4. All meat. We ran renosky hooks, but no dice. About 1.5. Rigger took the best fish, 2 feet off the bottom. Plenty of hooks, just few biters. Not too many goats today. Usual program, 3oz snap, 80 to 100 back. Orange double willow seemed to be popular. No play on watermelon or purple nurple. Heard of a bunch of sub 20's out in front of the windmills on meat. Green was NOT the color. Chart and purple. Also, spoke with a couple of bassers who picked up a bunch jigging on meyers in 30+ FOW. They are feeding on gobies. Nice to see.
  2. Way out of my snapweight comfort zone. But what the heck. Just another tool in the tool box. Gonna give it a shot this week. 200 out gets me 40 down. I can run them on boards right? Do I need to use braid or will mono suffice? I am almost tempted to snap on a snap weight on that bad boy.
  3. We chatted earlier. My buddy wants the beckman. Nothing like netting a 6lb walleye with his dinky rapala stowable perch net. Wish I had it on video. Commical at the least. Of course the meat rig gets caught up in the net, and the fish is floppin. How we didnt lose it, I will never know. Fun day out there.
  4. Love your posts HVS. Very proative. I like that from a store. I heard this is the first year NY will allow crossbows for deer hunting. Not sure whether its true or not, but figured you guys would know. Keep up the good work!
  5. I hear the catt is poppin. Good results in 60 to 65 off the fence near abino. Hope they are less tentative then they have been. Been grinding out a few deep or so. Better luck tomorrow.
  6. Ahhh yes the hot n tot. One of my go to lures in the midwest. Especially the old metal lip ones. Fantastic. Winds look down tomorrow. Me and my torpedo are gonna get an early start. Giddy up.
  7. Chad, yep, I can see the value in the torpedo. I am getting hung up on the dive curve. In most cases, a .1 change in speed results in a 5 foot drop. So, at 60 feet down at 1.5 I am 138 back. If I drop to 1.4, the 138 puts me at close to 65. Now, this may be how my 3oz snap weight is working also. So, not sure. Even with my trollmaster, maintains a consistent 1.5 can be tough. As I move up and down the speed, I am wondering if I am spending less time in the strikezone.
  8. Wow, now thats going on the bucket list.
  9. Jim, will do. And congrats to you and the missus on the Ameri-Can tournament. Nice pic and write up in this weeks buffalo sunday paper.
  10. Nice work, gill T. been hearing good things off the catt. Been staring at that torpede on the my desk. How did you rig it for the harness? Was gonna use one of my church snaps. Figure that should work.
  11. Well its working today. The biggest issue is the pipe. It has a long run to the sewer, out in front of the bait shop. That gets stuffed alot. And just too many carcusses at once in the pipe. Signs would be an excellent idea. I like the idea of plan B too. So fine the grinder is out, put up some cans and bags so the carcusses can be dumped there. Dont shut the whole place down because the grinder wont work. Not the solution fellas.
  12. Pretty mellow tomorrow. Up at 5 to chase walleyes.
  13. Yeah, I am getting that. Was poor this afternoon. Very lumpy. Couldnt run to the fence, so stayed close and have nothign to show for it. Pretty windy.
  14. Not sure what the issue is, but I dont see the motivation to resolve this. Sure, there are some knuckleheads feeding the machine poorly.l but hey, its lake erie. Get a solid grinder... Please get this going again.
  15. We had a good day considering the time frame. We fished 10 to 2pm. Short trip with Bob. We ran meat off the fence in 61 FOW. 1.5 at the dash. 3 oz snap weight of course. We had to go deeper. 80 to 90 back. We got two. 1-4lb, and 1-6lber. Good day out. Pink worked good. May try to run hooks tomorrow. Gonna try again tomorrow on the late shift, 12 to 6.
  16. Those under 20" are the tastiest. I wanted to make sure the boy got the message right from the start....big fish go back, especially walleyes. I like the rigger idea, but those long leads, yikes. I see tangle central on my end. I have been working with divers and jets, just dont have the confidence yet. My snap weight program has been very, very good to me. So, tend to rely on what works.
  17. Did the early shift today. Lines down at 700AM, popped 4 fish by 730, then the lull to 10am. Nuts. Glad to see the lake fly population booming. We had to go deeper 60+, but not by much. Same program, 3oz snaps and meat. Added more to the front though. 20 feet was spookin them (or so I think). I went to a 40 foot lead. Fish were higher, so only 45 and 55 back. (50 about 24 down @1.5). No big ones. All 3 to 4 lbs. Had a fun time on the water today. We ate, we pee'd in the water, we laughed, we caught walleye! They didnt like the 3D watermelon at all. All fish came on pink. Plenty of boats. TIP: Get a fish, then work that depth. We spent some time east west trolling, crawling up the slope. Once we went north south, it was game on. Many thanks to Dan Stier and Vicious Line. We love it.
  18. Giddy up. We are hitting it early. Just a morning fish. Will be on the radio.
  19. Yep, I hear ya. Boy: "whats that" Me: Nude beach Boy: Lets go Me: Nah, mom wouldnt be none too happy. Boy: dammit
  20. Those mature kings can rip!!! We fished for walleyes today. The boy said reellin them in was like a wet case of beer....HA! He's hooked on kings
