  1. I always pray for rain. I figure it keeps the rif raf off the street. Maybe sleepin on a boat with your favorite firearm will resolve!?
  2. Thinks jimski. hoping to bag my first wallye with a dipsey. May be running Dan Steirs 6oz snap weight program too.
  3. Not to hijack, but I love vertical jiggin. Grew up doing it on the mississippi and illinois rivers. Wondering if theres a vjig bite outta olcott late in the season. We used to have this program outta waukegan harbor with white twisters unders floats for browns. Middle winter open water pattern. Right from shore. Maybe that has some legs here.
  4. There will a few boats down there. So, we will have to see how the weather is. Not expecting big things. Wet and windy to start. You probably seen this, but will elliot buffalo news outdoors columnist, had a great time outta dunkirk http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/other/outdoors/article540082.ece Heres a smallie primer if you need it (I did) http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/other/outdoors/article536869.ece
  5. Sorry dupe. Winds say sat sunday not bad. Lumpy on monday.
  6. Holy smokes thats a fine catch. Will they be setting up soon for ice fishing? I mean are they gonna be moving towards their fall/winter patterns?
  7. You know it. One of the deciding factors when looking at tin vs glass. A boat has to be for the fishing you are gonna do. I used to love fishing my tin on the Illinois and Mississippi rivers on that warm winter day. Many a 50+ sauger day when the sun is shining and you got a good heat wave of about 35 in January. I expect to see a lot of river this cold water season.
  8. Oh it was fantastic. That crenzys stuff aint bad. I bought it at Denis's shop Fishing Niagara in Ft. Erie. Pretty tastee.
  9. Could use a couple of adjustable rod holders, some of those "star " screws for locking down, a couple of 6" mounting plates (yep- for the handlines), a spare electronics mount, canholder/tool thingy looks cool. etc. Whatever it is, I could probably use it.
  10. This was a backup unit the last 2 years. Used it on my previous boat. Has puck for front trolling motor, head unit, cover, power cord, gimbal mount. Retailed around $700. 11. Lots of blow out there now on transit and dodge. Yikes, dont even wanna think about the lake. Good gusts too.
  12. See I thought it was the whacky releatives who hold the trust fund moneys from when sam walton died. No wal mart corporate affiliation.
  13. With the boys football season ramping up, finding my fishing time getting squeezed. Had to get out on sat am to see how the new 21P tempest plus prop on the 250 handled. As well, hooked up the 104. Both didn't disappoint. Prop was great. My buddy Robby Blosser from Wisco sent me his. All I need to do was pay for shipping and get a few chips/balancing taken care of . Rocky Bottom Prop in Buffalo did a nice job . She didnt flex at all on the higher rpms (I had a black max aluminum), got more top speed (just myself I hit 52..still wasnt at WOT), and reasonable rpms. A great addition. Also hooked up the 104c. I had 2 HDS5's, which are nice, but getting old, so no longer can see that small stuff. Worked out great. I was only out for a couple of hours. Fish are definately scattered. Water at 74.5. I ran to the canada line and found some folks working the area. Meat seemed to be better. I ran my typical midwest crank program. Deep Husky Glass Perch and snapweights. Lost a 4lb because my net wasnt set up, got the crank in the net and knocked em off. Second fish was a nice 3lber and got him in just fine. A couple of swings and misses, then called it a day. Seen rebs out there on his way to seneca shoal. Noticed they changed the unloading (now far end) and loading (now 1st set of ramps). Seemed to be a good idea. Pulled out at 900AM, went to the football game. Ate my fish, and took a nap. A great saturday. Oh used the Crenzys stuff for the first time. Was pretty good. Loved the yellow pike.
  14. We got some nice perch off our drop shot rigs using jackall tritails. This rock/mud transition is exactly the type we fished back when I was in the midwest. We got the occassional walleye too. We had super secret rig for this kinda fishing. I am gonna have to test it out and report back.
  15. One of my peeps in the walleye world said he talked to the DEC office out of Dunkirk NY. They told me this law is not effective until the new license year which starts Oct 1st.
  16. Looking to head out on Thursday after work. You guys still banging fish?
  17. Nice work. I gotta trip planned to either Barcelona or Dunkirk on labor day weekend. Depends on the accomodations. Definately hitting the Polish Falcons in Dunkirk and Walleye Willys. Should be fun. Lets hope the weather cooperates.
  18. Wow,nice. Love the hat cam...Keep up the good work.
  19. Wasnt fishing for perch, but was fishing the rock mud transition just oustide of Evangelo (I think) state part. Seen the beaches. Pleanty of perch in 40 to 42 FOW.
  20. Stedke is a guru, and a heckuva fisherman/nice guy. Take heed what kgone says. He's spot on. 3/0 are perfect hooks.
  21. Found rocky bottom as an advertiser in the southtowns walleye newsletter. Dropped off this morning. To clean, balance and polish a Tempest Plus 21P is about $120. Thought that was a decent price. Shop is at 2045 Niagara, off Austin, in Buffalo.
  22. Ok, one more tip. Try to replace the hooks on the renoskys. Never much cared for those factory ones. Leave the front one off. Cut the crawler at the collar and place on the rear treble. Use scissors or knife to cut.
  23. 5 inch renosky. Dark days, dark color. Bright days bright color. Color is only a quarter of the equation. Think roll. Renosky has a sweet roll.
  24. Got a spare prop that needs some work. Did a quick search here and found a few mail in places but was hoping to stay local. Not interested in the West Marine drop off. PM me if need be.
