  1. I am gonna have to change that. "Bass is for guys that cant catch walleyes......or salmon"
  2. Yeah, I hear ya. My commute to winnebago was 3 hours flat. 170 miles. But I had a place up there. Pretty expensive buying near Oneida. I used to love rippin ratltraps through the weeds. That and pitching 1/8 jigs and 1/2 crawlers into the wind blown shoreline. Gotta make at least one trip. ya know support the local economy.
  3. Nice report. Think it worth investing a shallow or weed bite for walleyes? I spent a number of years on Lake Winnebago in Wisconsin. Essentially a big pickle running north and south. Somewhat similar to that east west pickle called Oneida. I have had some of my best walleye fishing in summer in weeds and skinny water, especially with a decent wind. Wondering if its worth a look.
  4. Ahh the peelers.....its on the list.
  5. I hear some wicked Muskys are up there. Gonna play it by ear.
  6. Heading up to montreal what looks like the last weekend in July. More R&R than anything. Wondering if its worth it to pull the boat up and fish, or stick to the tourista type stuff. Any suggestions on what to do or see? Maybe I can hook up with a decent guide for a day of fishing?
  7. Yeah, I heard of that event. Was it out of Northeast PA or Ohio? Cant remember. I bet thats a good time.
  8. nice job. Commentary was great. Lots of things happen at the last minute. Plan B usually leads to Plan C.
  9. You should swap out the Got Fish? for Got Walleye? Nice bag.
  10. Wondering if anyone has some spare dipseys they want to part with. Looking for "0"'s size. About 4 would be nice.
  11. Nestled along the scenic Niagara River, the Village of Lewiston will celebrate one of its most famous natural resources; the smelt. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation deemed Lewiston as one of the best places in the nation for Smelt Dipping. On May 6th beginning at 6 pm The Niagara River Anglers and the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce will batter and fry over 350 pounds of smelt at the Lewiston Waterfront. The adjacent Silo Restaurant serves up chowder, beer, WNY’s Famous Beef on Weck and more. Live music. See a real live Smelt King add to the fish fun. Area restaurants along the Village’s main street offered their own culinary version of smelt.. Fish flags identified participating restaurants. http://www.niagarariverregion.com/visit ... melt.shtml I am gonna get loaded and hit on the Smelt Queen!
  12. Henderson Harbor has been on my list for some time. They had an MWC out some time ago, so was always curious about there and Quinte, even when I lived in Illinois. I been in Buffalo for 2 years now and havent made it out there yet. I hear the spring spinner is something. I didnt realize such spit between night and day fishing. Night usually is good, but didnt think this was the preferred time. Really liked the eastern erie walleye bite. barcelona/dunkirk fun. Then its sunset bay in the summer. Very nice.
  13. Wondering if its worth it to take trip down with the 9 year old. I hear its open water but not sure what to fish for. Probably toss some crocadiles.
  14. Just found out he won a free reproduction from http://www.laxreproduction.com. Man, they do some nice work. Plus it reinforces the "lets let em go" of Catch Photo and Release. Man thanks to Sheldon Hatch for puttin us on these fish.
  15. I been chasing these things for year, and the little sheet knocks this one down within the first hour or so of fishing. He loves to tell all who would listen how many fish I caught. "None" as he says.
  16. Had a good weekend of fishing. Some nice fish. Just about all released.
  17. Me and the boy did the tourist thing this weekend. 3 days in canada, with 1 full day fishing. We hit the Royal Air Force Museum in Trenton, ON and CN Tower in Toronto. Loose Moose for lunch, and that wisconsin poundin given to michigan. Didnt lift a rod. It was all boy. His total weight for 8 fish was 77.4 lbs. A 14-6, 12-10-, 12-4, 11-9, 10-0, 5, 5, and 5. We kept the 3 five pounders for dinner, and released the rest. No gill damage, no bleeders, all fat clean, powerful fish. All went down very fast (Fun watching em on the HDS8 locator- like 10 seconds and right to bottom - I swear steeper than a downrigger ball..). Gettin some more pictures shortly. This is the 10-0, I think. Too many fish. The boys horse... 14lb 6oz, 33 1/3 long, 20 1/4 girth Me and the boy with a healthy 12 lber.

    video

Wow, great vid. lots of cool pics. We had a great season on the bay. Lots of good quality fish.
  19. I thought it was worthwhile and kinda mushy at the same time. I did learn a lot (rivers downstream no power, right of way over upsteam with power....ie, jiggers have right of way over trollers..). The mapping exercise was tough, but worth knowing.
  20. Boat, schmoat. You never know the appeal of some good "jigging"..
  21. Heres the million dollar question. Wheres the coolest water on the lake erie? Right now I say cleveland. With the winds pushing the warm water east, its cycling the cooler water west. Just a theory.
  22. Yeah, I heard about the genesee. Seen it in the saunders guide. Isnt there a beer by the same name 'cream ale'.
