  1. yep, your gonna smoke em in Pt Clinton. I was thinking the same thing. Once that temp hit 50 or so, spawn is over. I really didnt think, though, they would be set up for a troll bite.
  2. Took the boy to Pt clinton on Friday to fish with my buddy Steve B (hetfield charters). We were jigging in 12 to 14, got our limits. On the water at 830 off by 130. All good eaters, 2-4 lbers. Purple hair jigs. Jiggin was fun, havent done it in awhile. Boy had a fantastic time. Made me wonder if a spring jig bite off the reefs happens out here in NY.
  3. It cant hurt. I also got the upgrade to masters and the towing endorsement. Think of it this way. If you are gonna tow someone, you should have the endorsement.
  4. Our last outing in January out of Bay of Quinte, Bath Ontario. Some nice fish. Something to keep you guys busy. More pics at http://www.markkomo.com
  5. Yep thats the number. You give them name, address, boat reg number, etc. They ask a few questions. Then they give you an authorization number. Write the number down, and if checked, you give the number to the canadian officials. As stated, this only applies if you dont set foot on land. Did it quite a few times opposite the SBH when the walleyes were bitin.
  6. What a tremendouse natural resource to have so close to home. Coming from the midwest a few years ago, I used to dream about fishing quinte. Even my old walleye insiders from the 8's mentioned it.
  7. Yes, Dave. Lots of higher fish. Thanks for the headsup on the launch. I fished with Gavin and rob. They are still there and hungry.
  8. yep, kevin just said they are STILL poppin fish out there.
  9. Oh, we had a fun time. No one else in the lot, but us. We did see a smaller boat out later in the day. Ice is well past the Ferry line, though not as thick as one would expect. Maybe 1/2 inch to 1 inch. It makes a really wicked sound when the boat wake hits it. It was deteriorating quickly throughout the day, and would be getting poorer as the week went on. Launch was very nice, and even though the wind was pushing good, got the big starcraft on the trailer in one swipe. Thought the water at the ramp was thinner than I liked, but still launchable. We brought some salt to make sure the slippage was kept to a miminum. But no worries at all. We went 14 for 15, with one larger pike. A couple of smaller fish were kept, along with the pike (I like pike!). The rest were all released. We had 1-11.15lb, 1-11.6, a couple of 10.5 +, plenty of 7, 8, 9. Two 5lb bleeders were kept. I will have to get some pics up later. All on deep diving cranks. Clown was a very popular color due to all the sun.
  10. Excellent superdad! We took your advice, and launch ourselves out of Finkles on Monday. Had a great day out on the water. Look for a full report.
  11. Crazy aint it??! There's plenty of folks here that have forgotten more about fall walleye, than I know. Right time, right place. Well, the weather out there is frightful, but the walleye fishin's delightful, And since we've no place to go, Let us troll, let us troll, let us troll. And it doesn't show signs of stopping, Reef Runner Ripsticks a poppin', Kicker motor turned way down low, Let us troll, let us troll, let us troll.

  13. Its all driven by water temps right? The key is having quinte below 40. Above 40 and fishing seems to slow down.
  14. Nice work fellas. I am kinda confused on the launch availability. I hear SBH and Erie Basin are closed. I guess I can hit Rich products on the river and run up. Or the sailboat place in the river. Any other options?
  15. I remember when I first got out here. I picked up the hotspots map. right there on the brocton shoals, they mentioned lake trout. Probably a lot has to do with how most of the fishing is done out this way. Pulling meat deep has been the go to technique. But walleyes do love weeds.
  16. So used to fishing off cleveland/huron/vermillion at night, wondering whether there is a night bite off hoaks, windmills, etc.? Kgonefishing (an avid walleye/salmon guy) turned me onto the nightbite in ohio. Figured, hey, why not troll stick bait hooks in the southtowns. Am I goofy?
  17. Excellent post and some fat fish. Plus pulling with hooks....I love it. Nice work guys.
