    Chas off the top of my head I don't find it a problem on the Viking but there is lots of shade there. I think it's become less of an issue with modern FF units.

    I have had Maui Jim's and Ray Bans in the past. Good quality and comfortable. I currently own Oakleys and Costas, both are worth every penny. I give the nod for comfort to Oakley and for sheer intense glare protection I give the nod to Costas. Resist the temptation to go cheap, optical quality can vary from lense to lense as well as shatter protection--you only get one set of eyes. Take advantage of Mike Gustin's offer in Webster and go try on a bunch. He's a good guy and into what he does.

    Ace, I have heard that people are being told, "save the weekends". Same weekends as they have been. 1st weekend in June for Niagara, 2nd weekend in June for Oak Orchard. Thats all I can ascertain.

    With average woodworking skills this could easily be modified to fit a smaller beam.

    I am very disappointed to notice the stamp cancelling on some of my mail from various cities is A ROW OF WINDMILLS! Yep, now we are subjected to subliminal messages of fraudulent, green energy agandas.

    With the ice gone from Erie, the very west end won't have true thermal bars. It will warm rapidly with the splaying Niagara current. The best areas to check this year will be Sodus to Oak Orchard. Good luck and be safe.

    2 just shy of that one, both caught by clients and on their walls. One of them was caught very close to where that recent one was, and in April as well. Lake O definitely has the potential to break any record, and has produced several in the low 30's. I saw one caught next to me in the lower Niagara by one of Frankie Campbells clients that went 29lbs. These days the replicas are so good I would encourage a near record to go back after a pic.

    I don't have any experience with that brand, but they are well thought out layouts for the Great Lakes and are very popular. As for trolling on one engine, thats the program to rotate hours to lengthen the amount of time between oil changes and conserve gas. In extreme sea conditions, trolling on both engines can give great control.

    Despite the big rains we are finally experiencing, also consider the drive type you end up purchasing. We are in a real low water crisis in the Great Lakes, and some marinas will have the water depth necessary for and inboard, others won't. Inboards generally less maintenance but draw more than an I/O or Outboard. The water will probably rise until June and then plummet again making August/September touch n go in shallow slips.     No more replies necessary. The last gentleman that took the time to respond to you is a true EXPERT with marine engines. He has tore down and rebuilt them along lake Ontario for over 30 years. When he talks engines everyone I know listens. It really comes down to whether or not you have a catalytic converter, and how you use the motor. The advice about zinc is sound science, and for many years SAE 30 weight has been the standard in small block marine engines, unless it is "tired", and then some bump it up to SAE 40 when the air temps warm a bit. I've owned several sets of 5.7's/350s and the best advice I can give is watch/tune your carbs so they don't "dump" gas into your oil, and be a guage watcher and don't let them get hot--replace impellers as necessary. We are all battling the fraud of ethanol gas, so make sure there are water separators in your fuel lines.

    Sk8man, I see the size vessel you are Captaining. One thing I have learned with the ladies is they will be "gamers" but they LIKE COMFORT They have no interest in bragging later about "toughing it", LOL I know that Whaler you are running is a fish killing machine, but young Joe is running a 28fter with a hardtop! He is one of what seems to be a growing number of young guys who are using "date fishing" as a qualifier--smart. Don't give up on your bride, I have a long time client from OH bringing his wife of 40+ years up this Summer for the first time. Good luck this Spring.

    Good stuff, Joe. What did you do with that King(possible Chin-ho) ? That looks like an odd one. That anal fin looks suspect. Some of the crosses are sterile I believe, which would mess up the schedule. At least get some scales from that fish if not the whole fish. DEC staff Jana Lantry would be the contact person.
