Hey Ludo. that is all good info Gambler gave you. Ludo are you staying at Sand Banks Provincial Park ? The facts about Port Hope staging kings is thst they will show up earlier than at most Rivers because Port Hope is 99.99% natural reproduction. No stocking there. They usually start staging around the 8th of August. They run into the river mouth at night and then back out to 100 to 180 fow. I fished there for years and occassionally get back for a trip in August. Ludo, maybe we'll see you aroung the Reel Thing Tackle Shop at Wellington in July. Al

I started fishing in the area in a 14 ' glass - 10 miles off shore for salmon in that area. (I am nuts anyways) Make sure you have a marine radio. Watch the weather. At that time of the year you can get in a lot of days. usually flat in the month of july. The marine radio always has weather channels so you can monitor what is in the forecast. Do not go out with out a radio. You are not going to catch kings very often within 4 miles of shore in that area. Check at the local tackle shop in Wellington for weather, Chris always has the marine radio on. Hope this helps Al

No - Lakeport was dredged in the spring and heard they had 6 feet after dredging. Port hope was closed but heard they had a high-hoe in this week so the blow-boater could get out of the harbor into the Lake. I do not know about the public launch. Wellington is OK and Barcovan fine. Both dredged this spring. Water is low and rising very slowly. Al

I ran the Big Daddy Z-boards during the St. Catharine's KOTL. Tracked better than the Church boards we were running. I was only running 5 core on them and had a little problem with them diving as they were desgned for long copper. Added a little weight to the back and they worked much better with the 5 cores. I think they will preform really well with the long copper rigs. Al

A tip that I got from Matt Santoro (Team Hotrods) is to use a little automotive silicon sealer while wrapping the very last part of the haywire twist. It keeps the ends from bunching up going thru the guides. Al

I have used anise scents for many years. Back in the 80's my buddy bought anise seeds at a deli supply company and we would grind them up make a paste and add to our roe bags. It is one of the ingrediants in the Smelly Jelly that I use on the M.C. Rockets. Works for me. Al

Yes the camera flash will work, but the black light does a much better job and the glow intensity will be greater and last much, much longer. Al

They will work in the spring if the cut bait bite is on. We fished the KOTL last spring at Dalhousie and almost half of the 18 fish we boated on saturday bit a Rocket. That was the first that I fished the area in 22 years. We'll be back again this spring. We will try to do better. Al

Thanks Tom, I kind of checked that out yesterday a figured that is where it must be. Do you see the shoal that runs north/south just east of the i and e in the word Ridge. We call that shoal the Dog Bone and fish there a lot in August. About a 20 mile run out of Wellington. Jolly II, the Scotch Bonnet shoal is still hot, hot, hot in July. Gill-T. I know where the Scotch Bonnet Island is, as I now fish out of Wellington and I ran a charterboat out of Brighton during the late 80s. Where is the Scotch Bonnet Gap from the Island ? I would check my charts but they are in the boat in storage. Is it the long shoal about 6 miles south of the Bonnet Light island ? If that is the area it was hot for 3 weeks in early august. I am with Tall Tails on this one. Don't use it on your flies, it gums them up, but we put Smelly Jelly on all the other baits. It does work.

Hey Matt, There is only one guy that I know that has run both Batrix and Rockets. Chris Currie, (Rileysalmon) on the Spoonpullers board. I would send him a PM and I am sure he will give you a true comparison. As far as the real deal goes, I tested the M.C. Rockets against herring strips in 2006 for 3 straight days in early july. 35 kings on the Rockets and 9 on cut bait strips. Basically, the Rockets out fished the real stuff 4 to 1. I haven't bought cut strips since 06. Hope this helps Al
