  6. flash flood warning today raining really hard now
  7. i fished wednesday ,saturday ,sunday , in sodus from 120 to 550 fow had very little fleas and would shake off the rod tip when did get a little of them . maybe the water currents push the fleas to oz .
  8. wicked cool , love to give that a try too,
  9. sodus 7/23 my friend Craig and i headed out for some salmon action this morning hoping the wind was going to hold off ,as i wanted to put him on some kings instead of seth green fishing for lake trout on the finger lakes . we bang threw the 1 to 3 foot waves to 400 fow set up with the NE wind. ,two riggers with spoons and cheaters , two dipsy with spin doctor and flies. first release with in 15 mins of trolling but gone before we could get to the rod . half hour later a drive bye on the a rigger pulling spoons .( not doing so good ) put another 2 hours in working 450 to 575 fow and not seeing any marks . started to work with the NE wind back in ,when we hit 430 fow the dipsy went off and we landed our first fish of the morning . a smaller king .set back up work the same water over again and did another king on the same dipsy rod pulling a gator SD and hammer fly . adult king ,then that was it for 1 1/2 so i started working back into the inside waters , nothing to show from trolling 400 to 250 fow so i said might as well clean these fish . i open this king up , he is just filled with alewife, i started chumming , so i got this mess cleaning fish and the rigger fires i landed that as my buddy didn't want to get in the blood and guts for another king .i finish cleaning fish and called it a day 3 for 5 today , ever eat fresh salmon eggs , don't they don't taste so good .
  10. nice and you save on gas staying to the inside .
  11. here is one i like to do when the king comes a long side of the boat, the driver slows down and the king will start to go faster then the boat and will move away from the side of the boat . the rod man reels down the driver speeds up the net guy is in the back corner and the king will comes to him . so it can be netted from behind . all in the timing ..
  12. Sodus 7/ 22 solo trip again, went 9 for 9 today all spoon bite . started in 140 fow water trolled to 200 fow turn around trolled back to 150 fow then back to 200 fow did two kings pick up and ran out to 400 fow set and trolled to 560 fow ,the bite was pretty good out deep . stringer uv spoon did the job for me . riggers 75 to 110 with cheaters . nadda on dipsy for me ended up pulling it was getting turn around with the rollers / chop . had no tangles tho with it, did have a big king cross the dipsy rod and was able to take the rods and go under the other. spent 12 hours in the boat , was a awesome day. hoping my buddy will go tomorrow for some more action ... forgot my camera and my phone is shot time to replace it
  13. heading out to improve on my solo technique , a whole another game
  14. i stayed at Captains Cove the room are nice ,clean and well taken care of .like the outside grill to cook out on after a morning fishing . did have a little trouble turning my truck and trailer around . i would say if there was a bunch of cars there don't think i would of been able to do it . but very nice place indeed ..
  15. we need a break from these flash flood storms . last year no rain this year to much rain
  16. ryonybony ...sounds like was short a mile or two from being on steady fish . really didn't have a good starting point so i just wing it . was good lake conditions to ran out to 400 ft too . Les.... was thinking going out of Hughes but was to cheap to drive the extra miles and pay to launch so i op out for the long slow ride to the lake . hey Bob is going to start to think you have some thing to do with these tangles you guys are getting . just kidding bud good luck next time out ..
  17. i fished sodus pt today flees was not a problem with 30 bl mono they were light and just fell off at the rod tip
  18. Sodus 7/19 went solo for my first trip to ontario day . showed up at the public launch at sodus pt 5:30 . got under way at idle speed to the lake , that was 30 mins to the end of the chute . made my way out to 120 fow ,set up with spoons on the riggers and a pro troll and fly on the dipsy , the fish hawk was reading 52 degs. down 50 ft . so i park one rigger at 65 down and the other 75 ft set the dipsy at 180 ft of wire and ran my down speed at 2.3 to 2.6 . didn't see much at all on the sonar , no bait or fish till i hit 180 to 190 fow . the first release came on the 75 ft down rigger around 220 fow ended up landing a small king . then i washed spoons and flies out to 360 fow ,seen bait and marks here and there but got nada .turn around working south east when i hit the 190 fow range had my second release . landed a smaller king than the first one . at 12:30 it was warm and muggy so i called it a day . it wasn't the greatest productive day for me but better than a skunk . salmon on the grill for dinner .
  19. my buddy 89 islander dose this too . its a omc and has a glass fuse in the wiring harness once in awhile it acts up , clean the ends of the fuse and its set till next time
  20. i would think if it is life or death they would do a air lift at either launches . our first responders are top notch
  21. keuka 7/16 went out with my buddy and his son to see how Keuka lake fishing would be . left from Keuka state park at 5 30. we went 5 for 8 today all lake trout and were release to bite another day. the fish were small ,2 lb to 4 lbs . they all seem to have empty bellies . there is a big difference from Cayuga lake fish to Keuka lake fish . there was more face book time for my buddies son . we hardly mark bait but did mark small schools of fish all the way to the point . by 10 30 the recreational boats started zooming all around so we called it a morning . the water fleas were just about none . surface temp was 73 . we ran two rig rods with suttons and mi scorpion spoons one high one low with each rod doing about the same amount of hits . gps speed was 1.7 to 2.4 .
  22. Bears bait shop is at Myers park at the boat launch ask them if they can help you out. 607-227-7512 . don't sweat the small stuff
