  1. Good to see everyone on the water again today! Fished north and south of Burtis Point. 5 and 7 color core, 100' copper, riggers set between 35' and 65', wire line dispy rigs set at 160' all put fish in the boat. We changed up all colors of spoons and sticks with Green NK and Stingers being the best for us. Boated a ton of small 2-4 lb laker's and lost one nice bow at the back of the boat. Fished from 50' out to 160' looking for bows and browns at first light with little luck. We marked a ton of bait and fish around all points on east side of lake. The new Humminbird HD side/down scan sonar showed us fish with remarkable clarity and provided us with a clear view of all the fish that wouldn't cooperate. Thanks for the pics of the boat Mike. Looks like I'm going to have to beg a few of those special spoons from you!!! Great job on the water, and great report
  2. Great report, and congrats on your 3rd place finish.
  3. Mike, Will see you there. You boys will be tough to beat if you keep fishing the way you have been. Sounds like you have it all scouted out. I will have my eye on you!!!!! Can't wait to get out on the little O for the first time this year
  4. Great job on the water. As alway you put your crew on the fish I'm with Jason though...Nice tease for those of us that had to work all weekend Hopefully we will see you on Owasco this weekend.
  5. You keep that fishing up and we'll be seeing you on the leader board in a couple weeks!
  6. Awesome fish Mike!! We ended up with around 10 LL's in about 3 hours fishing. All fish came on lead core and stinger spoons. Had my 8 year old with me today, he had a RIOT!!
  7. Great job, great report! Great way to spend a BDay. Its good to see that you let them go for another day. How deep down were they?
  8. Nice fish. Sure we will see you out there soon.
  9. Great report! Was good to see you guys out there again. At first light we marked fish at the north end of the lake off the Keuka State Park Launch but no takers. We finally hooked up with fourteen lakers and were able to get eleven into the boat. Several fish were four pounders. We found all of our fish south of the Bluff, along the west shore. Caught fish on lead core, riggers, and dipsey's. Green spoons, and white flasher fly's got it done. Most fish were taken 100' to 120' down over 160' bottom. Not the best day of fishing on this lake, but nice to get out again after a long winter.
  10. Fished with the FLTA on Canandaigua on Sunday. Not to toot my own horn, I finished 2nd. The fishing was the toughest I've ever seen it on this lake. I do charters on all of the Finger Lakes and I would have to agree with cdgn troller that this lake has done well, at least in comparison to most others I would encourage everyone that is fishing the Finger Lakes, even if it's one day a year, to participate in the DEC diary program. I also agree with FLXT routman..."tight lipped old timers". Have been fishing with these guys for a few years now and NOT A ONE has ever given any secrets, if there is such a thing. Gotta love them tho, they do know how to fish I post all my "secrets" on my web site after most of my trips. I marked fish in the top 50' but no takers. Most fished were stacked up at the south end of the lake. Also marked fish along the bottom in 150-175'. After having no fish in the box we dropped down to the bottom with light weight thumper rigs. Ran Sutton 44's and small yellow homade spoons with good success. I say good, we only boated 4 lakers all day. Had one other laker that felt like a real decent fish but it came off about half way up. Two were short and released. Two were kept for the weigh in...and the frying pan
  11. Fished Seneca today for perch. Myself and two buddies boated 43 perch at first light (within about 45 minutes). They shut off quick and moved out. We had a tough time locating them after daylight. As a reply to your post, check all the MAJOR points on the lake from about 40'-80' on the bottom. I use a Vexilar flasher, regular Lowrance sonar, and most importantly an Aqua-Vu portable camera. Purchased the camera and Vexilar for ice fishing and have converted for perch fishing. This equipment keeps us over fish at all times and shows us how they are reacting to our bait and lure presentations. As most winter perch fishermen know, if your off the spot by a few feet you may as well be a mile off becuase you are not going to get them. Lots of time on the water and experience will pay back big time! Good luck.
  12. I like my Vexilar FL-18. I use it for open water and ice fishing. A few of my buddies have different brands. I think you will be happy with any Vexilar unit. Side by side I am of the opinion that they are hands down the best.
  13. If you went, any luck?? I am looking to get out Monday.
  14. Nice catch!! Canandaigua has been good to me all year.
  15. Thanks for the welcome, hope you got things figured out with the motor, let me know if the marina I suggested figured out your problem. Nick
  16. Fished Cayuga Lake today. Great day on the water with nearly twenty fish to boat. Mixed bag of lakers, landlocks, very small bows and one nice male brown trout. Fished from Boy Scout Camp to Sheldrake Point. Lakers were down 75-130', brown came on rigger out 60' with Sutton 44. Dipsey divers run out 220' on wire line, white flasher/fly did a number on the lakers and on landlocks. Bows came in on copper wire rods out 300', small rainbow colored Rapalas and spoons worked the best on bows. The guys kept seven fish for the grill and the rest are still out swimming. Thought landlocks and browns would be in tribs around lake by now but they are still down deep. No complaints here. Happy customers equals a happy captain!
