  3. Week before last my wife and I went out of Fairhaven, I was working on one of my lines when my wife yells The Rod, The Rod its bending, I look over to see the rod holder on my port side rigger go horizontal and my rigger rod fly out of the back I look out to see the rod headed down to the bottom of the lake. Quickly I speed up and run the boat in a circle. We start pulling up lines first one nothing, my wife is bringing in a dipsey line and says its getting heavy, end up its on the downrigger cable, I bring up my secret weapon rig and 1 hook on the silver streak spoon has some braid on it. I start hand lining it in doing a couple quick wraps on the cleat in case the fish happens to still be on there. Luckily I ended up getting back the FF and Rod. Kudos to the Wife for keeping an eye on things!

  9. Thanks for the reply, I'll probably use 30lbs big game as a leader. Any suggestions for lure combos will spin doctors still be something to use then? Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. I'm headed up to Fairhaven the last week of August to hopefully get into some kings. my rods have 30lbs power pro that I usually tie fluro leaders to for spring browns. Do you think that is good enough for riggers and dipsies or should I change out to heavier line? Any suggestions for what lure presentations to use would be great too. Thanks Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  16. I have a used but in excellent condition CannonLink with the cables and terminator to hookup 2 downriggers. $200 shipped for anyone that can use it. The only thing missing is the 6" cable to hookup additional accessories. I'm going to upgrade my depth finder and it won't work with the new one.
  17. If you bass fishing the side scan is awesome. I've found a bunch of structure that I never even knew was there. I recently found a submerged bridge. I use the Humminbird 798 ci si older unit but works great. Looking to upgrade to an Onix 8 with the 360 soon. Don't really need it for trolling 2d and GPS mapping with contours and of course the LOU site! Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  24. Made our annual trip up to Fairhaven last weekend. Friday had us skunked as well as alot of other boats. Saturday we changed up and hooked up with 5 fish hot lure was watermellon stinger down 4 back 75 around moon beach in 9ft. Sunday was bad as most boats abandoned the lake due to these little black flies all over everything we were able to hook up with a decent size brown using a carmel dolphin stinger down 10 back 75 on the edge of the deep impression to the east of the chute. Fortunately we had these hats with screens on them so we didnt have to deal with flies around our heads. Monday brought some wind but not much fish. We were able to avoid being skunked as my buddy pulled out an Atlantic Salmon on the last rod as we were pulling everything in to head home. Hope to head back up there soon. Tight lines everyone!
